Manchester United starlet Giuseppe Rossi has expressed a desire to return to Italy at some stage in his career.
Red Devils chief Sir Alex Ferguson prised the youngster away from Parma in 2004 and he has high hopes for the 19-year-old.
With Ruud van Nistelrooy departed, Rossi could play a key role at Old Trafford this season, but he admits that a return to Serie A is on the agenda in the future.
"My dream is to come back to Italy where there is a more technical and tactical football," Rossi told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"In The Premiership competitive spirit are the favourite, even if clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have changed their mentality."
Rossi grew up watching Dutch star Marco van Basten shine for Milan and he admits a switch to the Rossoneri would be a dream transfer.
"I have a liking for Milan, my idol was Marco van Basten," he added. "Then arrived Sheva (Andrei Shevchenko) and now I could see him even closer (at Chelsea)."
Rossi has been given the nod by Italy Under-21 coach Pierluigi Casiraghi and he is looking forward to the chance to represent his country.
"I'm really happy for the call-up," he declared. "It's a unique occasion and I want to play my best."

Agree.
He has star potential. And is fast, knows how to score, has a great feel fo the game... I think he is a bit undersized, but...

Certainly one to keep tabs on for now as his potential is very high and quite frankly he's made it pretty clear what he wants in the future.

The kid looks similar like Zola in the style of play, and the most important thing is that he is a milanista..hehehe :D
It wont be easy to snatch him from manutd.
He should really be getting a good look at Manchester United this year with van Nistelrooy out of the picture. And considering how fragile Saha, Solskjaer and even Rooney are, he could find himself getting regular action. It will be interesting to see his progress. I think he signed a two-year extension to take him to 2010 for the Mancs, so maybe Milan can buy him about 2009 and he should be just about primed for greatness. And a Jersey kid to boot!

Hmmm... it would be really great, but I doubt very much Man U will release him now.

His lack of size is the main concern at the moment, i think thats why he's going on about 'competitve spirit' in the Prem. You'd think someone would show him a video of Materrazzi's fouls as some of them would make even the Prem's worst offenders wince :D
He has plenty of talent though, fast, skillful with a good finisher and a good footballing brain too (the comparison with Zola is a good one) He'll be on the fringes of the first team at Utd again this season as Rooney and Saha will be first choice, Ole's back in contention and Smith has been reconverted back to striker now. He'd probably have been sent out on loan if it wasnt for injury concerns on all the dodgy knee'd strikers ;)
EDIT: Due to Jims Eagle eyes ;)
He'll be on the fringes of the first team at Utd again this season as Ruud and Saha will be first choice
I don't know how to break this to you mate .... Ruud's gone :D
Obviously you meant Roon(ey) ... i can see how you might get those two confused :u56:

manutd are so damn hard to please , they wud want good money n a nice switch for the guy , so we shudnt be so eager to sign him...or they'll start nagging :dumpf:

He would be a good signing, plus he is young...
Many of you are speaking as though we were talking about the present. Rossi said "someday" he would like to play for Milan. He didn't say he wanted to come now. Give him a chance to establish himself at United and then he can think about moving to a bigger club.
Too late Rick, Debs just told me that she's been told of a rumour going around on XT that Man Utd have accepted a swap deal .... Vogel for Rossi !!!!!!!
:rotfl: looks like someone over there has taken his comments too seriously :ilol:
Awwww, false alarm, it was just an old Gazzetta rumour in a 6 month old thread brought back to the attention of the XT members ... :D

anyone knows whats miln respons about this rumor??is milan interested to get him??
we won't get him aslong as alex ferguson is at man u.
he never sells his favourite youngsters.
If Rossi wants to return its not much to do for ferguson
I think he would be perfect for MILAN
But he has to grow for another 1 or 2 years
This kid has talent

He's got it, you can see from that single move he made. Juve, Milan,Roma, inter, all interested in him, but ManU won't sell for now !

Young Rossi Dreams Of Milan Move
The upcoming Italian starlet is currently on loan to Parma from Manchester United, but his agent revealed that his dream would be to play for the Rossoneri, his alltime favourite team.
zoom - galleria Andrea Pastorello, agent of the Giuseppe Rossi, the young Italian striker who took Italy by storm last weekend following his debut with Parma, has revealed his client's future wishes.
"He's a big fan of Milan," declared Pastorello, "And teams like Milan, Inter, Juve and Roma are all following him.
"In summer Manchester United refused an offer of 6 million Euros to sell Rossi, because they strongly believe in this lad. Then this winter there was this possibility at Parma, who were willing take him on loan without the option to buy him. And so Giuseppe is finding the right space.
"Obviously I'm grateful to United and we would never clash with them. For characteristics, I think that Rossi is more suitable to the Italian tournament, for technical qualities, that's why we discarded options of playing in English clubs, even second division, so not to waste his talent.
"Apart from Italy, we also had contacts with Barcelona. But I repeat, taking hi maway from Manchester United will not be easy."

This is the idea i got after watching a few games of him in Premiership:
i think he is better suited for latin football because it is more played on ground and less physical, but i'd like to see Rossi in a team like Arsenal as well (IMO the less english team of all) . Being him very short, you have to suit him with a particular game. If all the teammates cross from the flanks he will never express his potential .
