Why we never play with wingers? For my money, it's a great way to break the deadlock against the massive retaguards of today's football. Unfortunatelly, the only offensive play by the flanks we're using are Cafu's crosses from the right, and since he's performing skills are declining steadily year after year, the great majority of our offensive actions come from the middle, which turns our team very predictable.
Don't you think it will be good to change that scheme of things?
Well, Serginho sometime plays as a winger but it doesn't seem to be Carlo's style. BTW, welcome to the forums :)

Thanks. :)
You see, Ancelotti is good, but he's very conservative towards certain matters. Attacking from the flanks it's very important to open the enemy retaguard; and not only in football, but also on war hehehe.
well i guess your rite but what can we do?
In Milan, it is our tradition to use attacking fullbacks instead of wingers. Simple as that. The only recent coach that used wingers was Zac, and he was never regarded as one of Berlusconi's favorites.
Yeah, i agree playing by winger, you also play more attractive game also but Milan plays more "careful" style of game.

Not only a more attractive football, but also a more effective one

I agree on the point of using wingin' ( :D ) options. We have Pirlo who so great with long air-balls which wingers can take full advantage of. Amongst the available ones I strongly prefer Simão Sabrosa the most.
Someday I would like to see this formation atleast for the beggining minutes.

Wingers can move up and down once the ball is with Kaka or Pirlo. Futher, if we use attacking full backs they can be able able to support Rino and Pirlo.
Once the ball is up front Kaka can back Gila and Pirlo can act as an anchor just like Maniche did in WC and occasionally coming up with long range screamers.
Has anyone seen the partnership of Beckham and Shaun Wright-Phillips. They both work superbly with each other.
Oh I wish I could get this thing through Ancelotti head. :u31:

I like this information too, especially with Vicente on the left and Joaquin on the right.

Sounds like a very attractive and entertaining formation!
we cant play with wingers becouse we have pirlo and kaka in our team, and those two can only play DM and AM roles. Plus, they cant defend at all, so with two of them in the middle, and 2 mingers, we are domed! :) for example...........
.......pirlo---gattuso-----
RW------kaka-----LW
-------CF-----------
this means we only have 1 player that can defend properly, and that isnt acceptable in italian teams. that is why we have pretty offensive fullbacks like Cafu and Serginho to play down the flanks.

well seems a bit weak on the defending side i wouldnt mind if we have a strong defence plus i think it wud put so much fatigue in our players esp. prilo and kaka. unless zambrota and kuyt plays dude it wont be effective surly in the italian league. it wud be better if we played winger backs.
Now that wud be awsome.

I guess that we could have at least one or two wingers as tatical options.
By sure i have faith in Achelotti's tactics, today i saw Real with Emerson Diarra and Cannavaro, it was better in defending but useless in creating. Milan creates with Pirlo, Kaka, Seedorf and Gatuuso defends but i generally like the system with wingers.

Member's Identification Under Review
how many more names are you gonna come up with?
This sounds like a another failed reincarnation :u56:
yes, fifth one, I think :w221:
I wont mind wing play if we had King Deigo on left and Roberto Baggio on right :510: but the problem is that both of them are retired :r11: and there aren't any great wingers around. The best ones I can see r Figo, Pires & Robben and non of them can be a Milan player bcoz of 1 reason or another :stress:
So I would prefare this centeral-compact passing and through-balls tactics & full backs providing the width its simple as that :whie:
*U cannot call Beckham, C.Ronaldo, Kewell, Robinho, Downing, Giuly a class winger :mex:
Yes, they are retired, why do you have to keep mentioning them?
Hey Carlo is a real idiot, why doesn't he put Gianni Rivera in the starting line-up!!
And figuring out a good system to fit all our players and be succesful is not 'as simple as that.'

that's what I mean... people play FM Too much...
mkz57 i think it's time you grew up, you're nearly 20 for goodness sake. Stop the act, stop the childish behaviour and just act like an adult for once.

The formations posted with wingers would not work ... pirlo would be owned in midfield. i quite like our midfield at the moment. however it is dependant on seedorf. when he shows up 2 play it is excellent. ambro should be used only as a replacement for rino ... the current set up needs 3 players who can create. i think this year we can solve 2 problems, the subs for both pirlo and seedorf..... GOURCUFF.
Actually Ancelotti will play with wingers against Varese
Here is the formation
.......Dida.......
..Bonera...Nesta...Maldini...Favalli..
..Cafu...Brocchi...Seedorf...Serginho..
........Borriello...Oliveira........

we do use wingplay. Cafu and serginho run up more than a normal full back would in a 4-4-2

Serginho, Janu and Cafu actually is a winger, but milan doesn't need a winger like Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo or Luis Figo....
You know...the center for attacking strategy in milan is play maker, it is a reason why milan have a typical player like : Zvonimir Boban, Rui Costa, Kaka....and Gourcuf !!! they are played behind two striker, make a good pass and opportunity for GOALLLLL!!! hmm.... :uhm:
Oh, once again, milan play with two play maker :
1. Kaka as AM >>> Play maker
2. Pirlo as deep playmaker >>>
So...
IT IS MILAN GUYS........
do you agree with me ?
:5schal:
I actually prefer a playmaker instead of wings a lot more. I think the formation that Milan plays right now is the best out there. At least that's my oppinion. Simply because we have a playmaker PLUS we push the wingbacks up the field to act like wingers whenever we have the ball. This way you are dangerous all over the field. The opposing team has to warry about the thread in the middle and the playmaker, while they also keep their heads busy with the overlaping wing-backs.
We've hadnt had a winger since Donadoni. We havent had that many championships without a player like that either!
