Better late than never with opening this thread!

It will be a tough game but am looking for a big win here as Athens are not the stongest team in europe and coming to the san siro they will not expect to get much from the game, ill be watching it on sky sports extra so what are your thoughts on the game, and here's my team Hopefully all our players will be fit part from Kalazde who I think is still carrying a knock

Dida
Cafu Nesta Maldini Serginho
Gattuso Pirlo Seedorf
Kaka
Oliviera Inzaghi

Just 1 change from the weekend
3-0 for Milan
Inzaghi, Pirlo, Oliviera

Gaspo8

I agree, I too am looking for a big win out of this game. I am not sure if Oliviera will get the start of if they will continue with Pippo and Gila at the front. Also Brocchi might stay in this game and Gattuso next weekend.

Regardless of the first team selected, I am hoping for Milan to dominate make a statement.

I just want a win, how big it is doesn't matter

FORZA MILAN!

The quality of the win for me, like for Dev, is less important than us winning...obviously though, winning in style, with a big score line is always a good thing.

That being said..ESPN Intl isnt carrying the match..so NAMMY et al, where are the free links to the streams? PUHLEEEEEASE!!!

I think uit would be wrong to purt CAfu and Serginho together as then we open too many space in the back. We have Parma AWAY next week, so it might be good to rest Cafu. so my lineup is... dida-bonera-nesta-maldini-serginho-pirlo-gattuso-seedorf-kaka-pippo-gilardino. Oliveira hasnt got the power for the 90min yet. Im sure he will play some part of the game. Gattuso will be back, and I really want to see Bonera in CL.

nefremo
11-09-2006, 14:57
I agree with mrki. Playing Serginho and Cafu at the same time is risky, simply for the fact that both love attacking and fail to realize that when one of them is attackin, the other has to stay back to form a steady 3 man back line.

-------------Dida---------------
Bonera - Nesta - Maldini - Serginho
--------------Pirlo----------------
----Gattuso-----------Seedorf----
----------------Kaka--------------
-------Gilardino - Inzaghi/Oliveira--

I think a comfortable win plus a clean sheet would do it. It is important to get off with a win, besides we are playing home.

Milan - AEK : 3-0 (Seedorf, Gilardino,Pirlo)

Gaspo8
11-09-2006, 15:08
I am also in agreement, that Cafu and Serginho shouldn't play at the same time... leads to too many gaps and opportunities to strike on a counter attack. I like the line up you picked nefremo (let Cafu rest up for Parma), I believe Pippo will get the start with Gila, and Oliviera will come off the bench around 60 minutes. I would love a bigger score but I will say it will be 2-0 (Pippo, and Kaka).

REFEREE RILEY FOR MILAN-AEK ATHENS

MILAN – UEFA have assigned English referee Michael Riley for the Group H Champions League fixture between Milan and AEK Athens on Wednesday at the San Siro (kick-off 8.45pm CET). Riley will be assisted by Glenn Brian Turner and David Stephen Brian, along with fourth official Mark Clattenburg. Benny Jacobsen will serve as the UEFA delegate and Bernd Heynemann will observe the referees.

acmilan.com

ALL ABOUT REFEREE RILEY

MILAN - Michael Riley has overseen Milan three times in the Champions League. Here are the precedents: Milan-Deportivo La Coruna 1-2 (Milan were already first and they qualified) on November 13, 2002; Celta-Milan 0-0 in October 2003; Milan-Fenerbahce 3-1 on September 13, 2005.

He has only overseen AEK once: Deportivo La Coruna-AEK 3-0 on November 25, 2003.

I am not a Michael Riley fan at all but I hope he has a good game

I hope that Riley will do his best job the refereeing Milan - AEK Athens..
Problem is....like when I watch Milan - Lazio last Sunday that the Ref "looked" hesitant to give correct decision to Milan. They are somewhat affraid if the authorities and public would judge them as giving Milan a hand not only in winning the game but also for faults, offside etc.
A good exampleis when Pippo scored his 2nd which is annuled...Pippo is super clear that he's onside while the player who in offside position was Gilardino who didi nothing wioth the ball nor making any movement towards the ball.
2nd example is when Rocchi gave his pass to Makinwa.....even captaib Hook who has one eye saw it that Rocchi was 2-3 mtrs offside.

This FIFA/UEFA "pre-warning" that they will clocely look at Milan in every game we play is a real hurdle for the referee to give their correct decision on the pitch.
Hope that Riley is not one who blindly follow FIFA/UEFA warning!!

Anyhow, without Riley's help Milan could win the game against AEK Athens...that's my confidence as a Milan fan..Don't you ??

FIFA/UEFA disgust me. :fero: that said, we should have no problem winning this group comfortably.

I want six wins so we can receive a big fat check from UEFA.. why not? :D

I don't expect the Greeks to be a big threat to our first 3 points in group stages, but they did make some good results in last 10 or so years in europe.

This will be their 4th Champions league season.

1.The first time they played in season 1994/95, when they were in the same group with us. In Athens we played 0:0 and at SS we have beaten them 2:1. This was the season when we lost the final from Ajax. AEK was last placed in the group with 2 draws and 4 defeats.

2. Their second season was 2002/03, when they drew 6 times in 6 matches :) . They played 0:0 and 1:1 with Genk , 0:0 and 1:1 with Roma, and 3:3 and 2:2 with Real Madrid. Not bad results at all. This was the season when we won our last CL trophy.

3. Third season was 2003/04, and this time they were again last placed in their group with only 2 draws against La Coruna and Monaco, and 4 defeats.

So, they played 18 matches in champions league and they are still waiting for their first win. They made 10 draws and 8 defeats.

I'm not very much familiar with their curent roster, so i googled a little and i saw they have some good players but nothing special. They lost their best player, Greek National team player Katsouranis to Benfika. Now they have 4 Greece national team players (Lymperopoulos, Dellas, Lakis, Georgeas),and their star is Lymperopoulos who is the best AEK player. Defender Trayanos Dellas is also well known to most of you. He played in Roma and was among the best players of EURO 2004.
Another good player who doesn't play for national team of Greece is Zikos who came from Monaco, and AEK has few more players with big experience who play for their native national teams, such as Udeze from Nigeria, and Delibasic from Serbia and Montenegro, who came from Mallorca. 4 Brazilians play in AEK , and even 2 Italians, Bruno Cirillo (ex-Siena, Reggina, Lecce, Inter) and Goalkeeper Sorrentino (ex Torino, Lazio, Juventus).

One info from another forum "AEK traveled without important defender Udeze and regular defender Georgeas while Alexopoulos and 3-4 others stayed in Athens as they weren't fit. AEK will use 4-5-1 system and will play with counters mostly.
In greek league they drew 3 times in opening 3 matches .With paok at home 0-0, with ofi and atromitos away 1-1 both. Big problems with goal scoring. They create chances but hard to make goals"

I hope this was helpful

About the Lazio hame for a moment.... Pippo was ON SIde and there was a clear penalty on Pippo in the first half. But Lazio goal was ok, no offside in there...

Back to CL.... RAI 1 will show the game. That channel is free, so if you can catch it, Milan is in there. www.satfootball.com is also wery usefull in these issues.

Hey hey, take it easy :)

If u still dont know, there is a page www.asiaplate.com where the daily schedule of streamed program is posted. So go there, hop on live.today page ( http://www.asiaplate.com/live.today.htm ) choose a match u wanna see and click on a PLAY icon next to the program u have. Dont have program? Download it ;)

The streamings will be 2-5 mins late, prolly in chinese and sometimes not working at all hehe. But its better than nothing...

mmm, I am not so sure about this one
anyways, I am positive tomorrow there will be P2P chanel showing the game ... just give it time.
www.asiaplate.com is just one of the solutions I'm relying on ;)
btw, today I installed two new P2P programs that I haven't used before - PPMate (has Caifu Sports and many other clear sports streams) and MaxTV Online (Belgium program - only P2P I know of which has Setanta Sports in its channel list ... and many other sports channels as well). Of course, they both have other channles too - movies, music, etc.
PPMate's server seems to be down now -can't update channel list - but it should be up again soon.

well, I guess the best team in the world, or as Inter supporters like to call it - the best team ever assembled, just had its butt kicked by Sporting ;)
Vieira was again at his very best, while L'Imperatore Adriano didn't seem to be very clear on whether the game had started or not, at least not until he got subbed off. ;)

Yup Rai Uno has it. It says so in their programming. I think they even showed Inter CL game today.

That means it's going to be at:

Rai UNO

Yes, Italia 1 and canale 5 did show Milan's matches. But now Rai will show this one. It looks like they bought CL for this season. Im 100% sure becouse I saw on rai uno when I was watching Fraqnce-Italy that they will show Milan-AEK. and it is also on www.satfootball.com.

Probable lineup:

DIDA

CAFU, NESTA, MALDINI, SERGINHO

GATTUSO PIRLO SEEDORF

KAKA

GILARDINO , INZAGHI

If Gila doesnt score against AEK Athens at home, a team that hasnt collected a win in the Greek league for a few weeks now, then he wont ever score! Im just hoping for at LEAST a good performance by him. And please, for everyone waiting to tell me "hitmann, GILA made u eat ur words didnt he?", just dont bother. He might play a good game against a team like AEK Athens, but what matters is for him to play good 90% of his games, and so far, he has a 100% record... of bad games :devf:

I hope Oliveira and Gourcuff get more than a few minutes for this game. I also hope Nesta and Maldini gel together and get used to each other and give us the same performances as they did in 03/04.

For those in Canada, TLN are showing the game.

Zlatanov........what does this Caifu Sports usually show? I am just watching the UCL highlights of today, but I don't think I've ever seen this channel on asiaplate or on football4less.com when they do their channel schedules. Does Caifu show CL gamess, do they show Serie A on weekends???

By the way, thanx for the MaxTV, that thing is great, mostly because they have setanta sports there.

And....also so far, RAI uno is the only channel listed to show the game. I hope that's not the case and some other channels pop up tomorow!

zlatanov
12-09-2006, 23:24
I am not that regular on Caifu Sports (SIP TV) but believe they heavily focus on games from the EPL/SPL although they may also show games from other European leagues - Spain, France, Italy etc but that's ususally when there is no EPL game at the moment.
They do show CL games but again, it would most likely be games in which EPL teams are involved.
They might show a Serie A game here and there but I personally wouldn't rely on that ... but that doesn't mean Caifu cant be an alternative at times.
Basically, the sites you mentioned - asiaplate and football4less - provide you with plenty of info on channel schedules, so you would know in advance which channel would do it for you this time around.

First time I watched Caifu was with PCast but later versions of PCast - like 1.1.0 or so - were loaded with spyware, so I stopped using that for a while, plus the other P2P programs were more than enough for my needs :).
Now, it seesm this PPMate has Caifu Sports aswell and many other channels with a very user-friendly interface - available entirely in English ;), unlike PCast.

MaxTV is pretty good ... only problem is that there is some issue with the screen resolution/layout when streaming Setanta but for now there is no other alternative and something is better than nothing :)

For now Rai 1 is indeed the only one I have managed to find ... but that shouldn't be an issue as StreamerOne is a p2P program just like all the rest.
I do believe, however, that there will be a channel on PPStream or TVAnts that will end up showing the game, although, chances are, we won't find this info on any of these schedules but will have to go through some channels and test them "manually" ;)

again Cafu - Serginho?? We better just sell Jankulovski and let the man play football... :( And then against Parma ( which is harded game than this one ) we will have tired serginho AND cafu, and will play FAVALLI on the LB. Again Carlo is doing some of his "magic". About Gilardino, as long as we play him as 2nd forward we are going to get nothing out of him. He is only dangerous in the box, and not when he is getting the ball on his chest 30 meters from goal. Also, I noticed that Gila moves visibly slower than Pippo and is mostly a bit late in position, and that needs to be fixed. Pippo is 33, while Gila is 23!

What I read during Carletto and Maldini press conference it said that Carletto didn't like the
way we played against Lazio and may change the formation as he think that AEK would like to play like Lazio....

Anyway...Uncle Berlusconi will bein the stands watching Milan play against AEK.

Gila apparently has a stomach strain.... which I usually have when I'm bloody nervous,. like, RIGHT NOW! But, but, stomach strain?

Even thought it is a CL game, in terms of opponents difficulty, we gonna have a more chalenging game on Saturday (was Sunday?) against Parma. Pirlo needs his rest, he looks tired in Lazio game, while Gattuso might come back with a vengence. Brocchi looks great last weekend too, and we might need him in care Cafu goes foward. We can also see Kaka works well with RO. I just hope the partnership continue, plus Pippo in the mix.

The only one I'm a bit meh about is Favalli. Seriously? Favalli? And to some extent, Simic. I rather have Janku in place of Favalli, and Bonera, at least, in Simic's. Heck, even Billy is better ( thought I wanna see how he fare in the midfield ;) ). Anyhow, i just hope I'm wrong and the defence will get better in this game. Btw, can't wait to see Gourcuff too. Will probably fall asleep when the game is on tonight. Dammit.

Win it guys! Just win the game.

“All the players fielded on Sunday are available, Ricardo Oliveira can play approximately 30-40 minutes and I can’t exclude that he will part of the match.”

Latest on Milan-AEK streams:
right now Rai Uno is StreamerOne but not as "Test 2" as we initially thought but on "Test 3 [260 kbps]" ... keep in mind that by the time the game starts, it might be switched to Test 2 but if you find "Italia 1" on test 2, then know that Rai Uno is on "Test 3 [260 kbps]"

Also there is a chance that ULF (Ultra Lion Foundation ?) on TVAnts will show the game too. This isn't sure though as one site says ULF will show Hamburg-Arsenal, another Milan-AEK.

I, however, wouldn't put too much hope on ULF 'cause it buffers a lot- I personally haven't been able to connect at all to that channel.

In the last moment, there is always the chance that a channle or two on TVAnts or PPstream would end up showing the game. My advise is, if you have enough patience, just go and check what's on on the channels with more current users than the rest ... sometimes this actually pays off :)

As an expert (because i am Greek), i think we must not underestimate AEK ****.. Athens, because we could have trouble against their defense. But i just heard that AEK will play with 3 strikers so... The first informations is that Nesta,Pirlo and Cafu are out to get rest, the press conference of Milan said that they are out too get rest.
Dida, Maldini, Simic. The formation of AEK is "individual" is the first time that will play like that i think it will be more easy for us we will see.

sounds like a 4-2-3-1 formation. Two holding players and 3 free roaming players to play behind Inzaghi.

Either that or it's a strange selection for a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-2-2 ...

Just in case you don't have it already, for that link, you need TVAnts installed.
go to www.asiaplate.com
register, and you can download the .exe file for TVAnts - one of many P2P programs.
Instal it and then click the "PLAY" button here:
http://myp2p.eu/Matches/Match4.htm

it will take you directly to ULF which is shwoing the game ... whether you can get in stream pool or not, I can't say but i was able to connect and it's been working great so far

if www.asiaplate.com is slow - too many people there right now - get TVAnts here:
http://cache3.tvants.com/

Good luck .... that's all I know for this game

AEK hit immidiatly back. It is obvious that they will try to hit us on the counter. they are staying back and Milan is controlling the play.

Great play by Milan, never really gave AEK a chance to get on the ball. Kaka has been good but keeps losing the ball too often. Gourcuff has been excelent. I had never seen this guy play, but after that first half I KNOW that he can play. Great player and potential. Brocchi is also doing well but Gattuso i running the sh!t out of that field. from what I read, 2-0 is flattering for Real M as it could have easily been 5-0 and a clear penalty for a foul by Canna on Malouda was NOT given ... great job Fabio - to the both of you :) - too bad I have Diarra and Canna in my CL team ... phewwww, what a waste of precious points for me :)

Sweet sweet move with the ball moved from left to right in fluid motion ... Inzaghi makes a little touch on, Cafu crosses ... A wonderful aerobatic volley by Kaka.

AEK keeper was alert though. No goal but move of the match so far.

Dida - Solid game. Good positioning.
Cafu - Usual efficiency on the right. Good game.
Maldini - Solid with one or two touches of class. Another day in the office ...
Simic - Surprisingly solid game. Not threatened too much though.
Favalli - Did not quite impress. Defended fairly, fought well ... but a little bit more expected? Not much runs forward.
Brocchi - Gattusso no. 2
Gattusso - Usual efficiency. You only miss him when he is not around.
Kaka - Marked tightly but still managed to wiggle in a few nice touches. Good game by his high standards.
Gourcuff - Man of the match for me. Came more and more into the game and shared the creative role with Kaka well. Bright start and very impressive.
Inzaghi - Purple patch not over yet. Simply deadly.
Oliveira - One good run, a couple of nice touches. Short on fitness ...

giorgos, don't misunderstand me - a win is never easy no matter who the opponent. My point is that if Milan takes AEK seriously - we'll be just too big of a spoon for them to swallow, no matter where we play them.
If , however, we underestimate them, they'll give us hell even here in Milan, no need to go to Athens at all.
I am sure, however, that we will take them seriously and that's bad news for them and their fans. ;)

And in Canada, the TLN commentating was about 3 seconds behind, so you would hear the guy scream "DIIIIIDAAAA" long after a shot on goal had been saved and cleared to the other side of the pitch. A minor price to have to pay to be able to see the game live though.

We're fortunate to have an easy group, this will hopefully allow the 'squad' players to play more games and give us a chance to rest key players.

Well, an excellent performance, far more than I actually expected. In all honesty, AEK were out of their league, but we can be proud of the team tonight. I'm beginning to have a lot of optimism for this season. I have mentioned somewhere that I thought this squad was about as strong as the last few seasons, now I'm slowly believing its stronger. Key players are regaining fitness (especially strengthens the defence), the midfield looks very very good (Brocchi could earn himself a starting spot regularly at this level of play) and the attack looks good. We have some very interesting new talent, which is very positive.

Player rundown..

Dida - solid and performed well when called on.
Cafu - Never tired, ran the flank superbly.
Maldini - I've been hearing he's finished a lot this summer, certainly doesn't look it.
Simic - Minor mistakes made, but solid overall.
Favalli - Solid, did the job as expected.
Brocchi - Another good performance, his versality is a great asset too.
Rino - typical Rino, loved him juggling the ball with his head at the end.
Kaka - Great game, all over AEK, ruthless throughout.
Gourcuff - What can I say, not only a goal, but a performance to boot. I've been hoping he'd turn out a bit special, if he continues like today, expect this guy to be our big signing this summer.
Oliveira - decent performance. Still finding his feet, but good movement and looks sharp.
Pippo - SuperPippo is back, great to see!

Wonderful team performance today, solid, professional and classy. Quite frankly, we don't say too much with words, we talk on the pitch. I saw a concentrated Milan that looks determined this season. Experience, solidity, youth, excitement and teamwork have typified this team so far this season. Its early, but its a start I didn't imagine us to make.

Finally, just to add to the joy, Inter and Real we're enjoyable to watch! :D

FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read a few reviews of the game and they seem to suggest that we misplaced alot of passes and alot of moves broke down. I don't know if this is true or not, but it makes me think that we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. This was only AEK after all, widely recognised as one of the weakest teams in the competition, so i don't see this being a yardstick for the rest of our season. All it can be is an exercise into getting fitness and fluency.

A professional performance considering the circumstances i think.

I have plenty of positive things to say and i'll say them when the time calls for it.

Just as i won't castrate the team if they play badly after 2 games in the season, i also won't be jumping from the rooftops because we beat a poor team 3-0. They did well, they were professional and there were encouraging signs, i recognised all of this. So just because i'm not singing and dancing about our win it means i'm being negative?

If the reviews are talking crap then you best contact the people that wrote them, i'm only saying what i read.
