View Full Version : Is it about time to give up?

By giving up, I mean it in terms of giving up the season and our strikers experiments. We are 10 points below Inter and without being able to score a goal or consistency on defense, there is no hope of beating the clearly more talented Inter. We would be lucky if we can finish ahead Rome or qualify for the Champions League qualifiers next season. What caused this outcome? Well, our strikers stink, defenders are too old, midfielders too inconsistent and our board of directors had their heads stuck up their butts during the summer. Now let's talk about our strikers. Starting with Oliveira, aka our biggest acquisition of the summer. This guy absoutely stinks! I have been saying ever since we signed him. He had one good season and that was it. He couldn't even play when he was in Valencia, nevertheless the clearly more difficult Milan. We signed him for the off chance of landing Ronaldinho someday, who may or may not even fit in with our squad. Keep your eyes on this situation, folks, cause it will get very interesting. I anticipate Ronaldinho almost signing with us only to bail at the last second for the bigger contract offer made by Chelsea. And then Berlusconi and his moronic people will sign us a guy like Sneijder and say we are a team building for the future. Secondly, we have Gilardino. I do not know what happened to this guy, he seem to be completely destroyed by his world cup performances. I know he is still young and needs cares, but if he continues to play this way, drop his butt immediately. We need to light a fire under his butt to motivate him. Inzaghi had a good opening, but faded after that. It serves us right for the way we expected him to perform like he did ten years ago. Anyway, I am just posting this so everyone can get a good read on what the team is like at this point and stop having any kind of high expectations on this team, at least not this season. The management need to learn a lesson from their cheap spending on the summer market. Maybe our performances would teach them a lesson about selling three world class players for second rate players.
How could you give up now? What sought of supporter are you?
What the guys need now is our total support, to get back to playing at the level we know they can play at.....if we want the guys to really stuff up...we should have your attitude and stop going to watch them train and play...that will really motivate them.....
I will never give up on winning the title or the champions league until we are mathematically out of the race...even then...i will still urge milan on to finish as high as possible or go as long as possible in th champions leageue...this season is a long way from over!
Give the players a chance....oliveira has just come back from a serious knee injury..gila will find his feet.....but we need to support them....
the board know wbetter then anyone who needs to be bought and so forth....yes even more then all us milanmania posters....if they turn out to be the wrong players...they will fix the problem...the thing that stopped us last summer from purchasing big was the scandal..remember that.....
Let's see now! Give up! Why? And let me post what you wrote again............"The more talented Inter". Are you kidding me? Inter's squad is FAR less telented then ours. The talent we have in midfield with Pirlo and Kaka plus Seedorf and a Gattuso which is equal to both Vieira and Dacourt.........is by far superior to any in seria if not the world. Yes...they they are not clicking at the best possible way right now.........but give up? As a matter of fact.....the "more talented" Inter that you mention has only 2 points more then Milan. And I don't know if you have been watching them, but they look far from convincing as well. So tell me now....would you have given up if we didn't start with -8 and were in second place right now???
Their defence is alrite, but nothing better then ours. If anything, they should be jelous of our quality in defence. They have concided 8 goals where Milan has only let in 2! How can you possibly say that we are inferior to a "more talented" Inter!
The strikers have been out of sorts lately........but the goals will come. Inzaghi today had a couple of chances so did Oliveira and Gila had one as well. Inzaghi's chances usually go in. Today they didn't. I understand the criticism of the strikers but give up on a whole season when we should be in 2nd place in serieA and we are sitting in 1st place in the CL? NO!!!

Milan never gives up!!!!!!!!!!
Yes Slifersd we should all go and jump off of cliffs because the end of the world is nigh :rollani:
Critique the team? Yes. Abandon them and give up on them? uh, let me think NO!
A more talented Inter? Oh come on, be realistic. How many of their team would you actually want here right now? Aside from Maicon & Crespo, i don't think i'd want anyone else from their team at all. They do have more strength in depth, but when you buy more players than you know what to do with, you're bound to have that.
Pietro mentions the fact Oliveira has just come back from a serious knee injury, so it begs the question why we bought him in the first place?? Once again it's not about purchasing big players, but about purchasing the right players. 3 out of the 4 people we bought were not the right players for our team. Only Gourcuff was a wise purchase. With Berlusconi a little clouded by Ronaldinho right now and with those transfers in mind and the debacle of some of our failed transfers, it raises the question that maybe our 'board' aren't quite on the right wave length right now regarding what our team need.
But give up? Absurd. If that's how you feel, maybe you (Slifersd) should just stop watching football now :D

When I said to give up, I meant to give up the experiement of ours of replacing the old players with the ones we signed. Did you people even read it carefully? You guys are right, Inter is technically only 2 points ahead of us. But what difference does that make? They are ahead and they are not even playing well. Imagine what it would be like if they find the right chemistry. With Juventus gone from Serie A, this is our best chance in years to win it all and what did we do? Playing like a bunch of whimps. Sure, Gilardino will find his feet, but how long is that going to take? How long do we have to wait and see our damn strikers make absoutely no contributions out there? A year? Two years? Five years? I never told you to stop watching them altogether, but the club and players need to feel the pressure and start working harder to perform better. Gilardino needs to realize that playing the way he does is not acceptable. Berlusconi needs to realize that selling a guy like Shevchenko and replace him with Oliveira is not acceptable instead of sitting here and say "well, I guess they know better." That is not being a supporter, that is being a brainless.

I still can't understand what do you want from us to do??
To shot Berlusconi or Ancelotti? :uhm:
Of course our strikers will start to score within weeks, not years, be realistic... :rollani:
We just need better phisical preparation and little more luck. Sometimes when you miss chances, you get nervous and that makes the things even harder, so just give them time, we will kick some asses very soon, I hope... :w221:

Never give up Milan for live!!
Even in serial B or C.
FORZA MILAN
Why would we give up on the team already? We're Milan FANS and we don't give up, ever! :5schal:
But I do agree on something--it's time for our coach to give up on his stupid experiment and play with 2 strikers, even if his strikers are Pippo and KAKA!!! We have no one to partner with Pippo. I said back in July or August that we were going to end up looking follish for not getting an actual replacement for Shev and everyone pooh-poohed that prediction.
Inter...clearly more talented? Inter signed alot of names, as Inter always does, that doesn't make them talented.
This season still has a long way to go. I'm annoyed with some of the things that have gone on, I'm annoyed we can't score and that needs to be remedied, but I'm not ready to give up on anyone. :5schal:

I agree with you on the striker situation. Starting the campaign with basically 3 strikers is nuts. Clearly more options are required and you must have competition for places. We need 1 or 2 new strikers.
But you need to calm down, with the 8 point deduction this was always going to be a hard and more to the point, long season. We are not a million miles off the pace but we are going to spend the whole season playing catch up and hopefully when the final 5 games come around we will be in with shout of glory. This is a marathon not a sprint.
And and please don't make positive remarks about Inter, they are serial losers.

Why should we give up? we always strike back :D
Last season many people talked about "season is over, Juve is 10 points ahead, we are bad" but we eventually joined in the race for scudetto.

Secondly, we have Gilardino. We need to light a fire under his butt to motivate him.
You know, actually before this post I thought I that Gila is hopeless. But now I d quite like to see someone lighting up his butt. It might help...Ass on fire is a very good motivation to run at least. :) :) :)
About Oliveira: you gave Gila so much time to prove himself, and Oliveira got from you only 7 games, in which he alsmost didnt take part. How come?

We have overcome greater obstacles before.....so i see no need to give up...especially seeing that we may get some points back from the trail....even 6 points will do us good......and inter are inter...meaing it's only a matter of time before they lose a couple on the trot...and then like magic we are up in first spot

Just to put a different spin on it. Even if Milan continues to struggle, why give up? Because they are losing? Is that a reason I shouldn't root for them anymore?
I suppose I actually root and care more when they are losing, than if they won every single game in Serie A by 3 goals.
Not only that, I care about the players on the team and their careers while they are at Milan. Should I give up on Kaka and send him to Real Madrid or Chelski? Should I give up on Dida and let him sign elsewhere for free?
Even if they play poorly and lose, it's still my team. Almost like marriage, for better or for worse til death do you part.
If I do give up, who do I root for? Inter? HA! Juve and their Serie B venture? Never. I can't imagine rooting for another team more than Milan.
Sorry, you don't give up on "family" even during the rough patches.
We never give up, we will try next season.
To be practical we should retire Costacurta, Maldini, Cafu, let go Dida, and another 5 or 6 players, take in some young plaers (20-22) then we are better off 2-3 season from now. We should even sell Kaka to get the fund to rebuild the team, we are ruining his career with current poor transfer policy.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????
Man, you gotta be out of your mind!!! Kaka is our present and will be our future, he's only 24!!! Now we without Sheva are struggling, if we sell Kaka... :1avs: No matter how money we could earn, Kaka' is very special player who could be the difference in a game vs. some big team like inter, Bayern, Man Utd, etc. If we don't have players like him, we'd never win a big game.
Even more, Milan management couldn't be impressed by money, we (Milan) care about such things like honor, respect, loyalty, image and so... :respect: :5ok:
As I know, Sheva is the only one big star, that was sold and he was sold not for money but cuz he (or may be his wife) wanted to. :rollani:

If we sell Kaka we ll be in danger of going into Serie B next year. Because at the moment Kaka is the only one who plays great, scores goals and starts all attacks. We already sold Sheva to get the fund to rebuild the team...and what can we see? Milan cannot win, cannot score goals....and we dont win 4:0, 5:0 anymore. We barely get our 3 points, if get them at all. So lets sell Kaka and then we can forget about Scudetto, CL...and Serie A at the same time.

Why on earth would we want to even consider selling Kaka?? What's he done wrong, which is the usual reason people want to sell players. We'd look even more foolish than we do now,IMO anyway. And then you have to consider--what would the $$ from his sale go to? B/c if I am recalling correctly, we didn't spend the paltry amount we got for Sheva. Which brings me to...what fund to rebuild the team???

As the management clearly demonstrated in the transfer of Shevchenko. Come on, dude, we all know why they did it. Would they still sell Shevchenko if the offer put on our table wasn't 50 million? Honor, respect, loyalty and image are what they say they believe in. If they truly believe in honor, how do they explain the calciopolli scandal? Loyalty, Shevchenko was the icon of the team, and then they sold him for money. Sure, his wife liked the bigger paycheck signed by Chelsea, but he was under contract, he had no right to leave whenever he feels like it.

sheva wanted to go to london, even if he was under contract.
if we would hold him, then he would surely play bad, unconciously.

I hate to say this, but somewhere down the line (very soon, I anticipate), Kaka will leave. We, as a team are ruining Kaka's career. We haven't won anything in three years and that trend will only continue with the way our management is running the team now. Kaka is a great player who deserves championships, and we cannot give that to him any more. As soon as a big offer arrives, he is going to think about leaving, like he almost did this summer with Real Madrid. We know he would likely be gone by now if it wasn't for the Shevchenko transfer. The management did not mind selling their star players so long as it brings them a lot of money in return and does not damage attendance in games. As we can clearly see from the way they used Shevchenko's transfer money, the management does not intend to build up a very successful team right off the bat. They would try to make a couple more lucky signings and hope they can strike gold like they did with the signings of Kaka, Pirlo, Gattusso, Shevchenko and Seedorf. How long would that process take? It took 6 years last time, let's wait and see if this one will last just as long.

I guess you have been to the wrong forum really, because I'm surprised that this kind of mentality actually comes from a Milan fan.
About Sheva: You are, unfortunately, the only person I have spoken with that thinks we sold him for money. And there is no point in addressing this issue further.
About Kaka`: Ya... I wonder why he was thinking about leaving Milan for Real Madrid after he just penned a 5-year contract. That's surely strange.
Sure, his wife liked the bigger paycheck signed by Chelsea, but he was under contract, he had no right to leave whenever he feels like it.
Which clearly demonstrates you don't understand Milan's used-to-be philosophy.

I am so glad that you are one of us. :stupid:
slifersd...I really can't think of a single example where Milan sold their star player for money. That's why it is really hard for a lot of people to believe that we sold Sheva for money and I am one of those people. The truth.....maybe we'll never know. However facts indicate that Miland doesn't sell their star players and certainly not for money, so I and a lot of people tend to believe the facts rather then the rummors that will be put out there about why and how Milan sold Sheva!
Why give up? Sorry man, we're Milan. We're a stubborn lot. Not gonna happen.
Dinamo Zagreb has a motto (and original is in my signature):
NO SURRENDER!!!!
And the same goes here, why giving up, Milan just needs some kind of refreshment, maybe in tactics, on the bench (and that is my choice, bye Carlo!), or in the field (new player(s)), they need to change the attitude but not to surrender.

what makes you think that we are out of fund? We don't have to sell any one but we can still buy many one, if our Berlusconi is willing to pay. He is very rich <he is not as rich as abramovic, but richer than every other owner with about 20 Billion $>.
About Kaka, I don't think we are ruining his career. Remember what has made him a famous player. And remember we are the best club in Europe according to the last 3 year result.
And about who want to give up, did you give up last year? I remember we were more than 10 points behind Juventus in some moment last year too.
We can still be the champion, just a little hard. FORZA MILAN.
