Hey, all is not so dark. Milan is still just 8 points behind 4th spot (including penalty), and we still get to knockout phase in CL. I know this sounds ironic, but things can get better... i hope they party their butts out over new year and start year 2007 like we want them to, with clear heads.

Can we field any player we buy in January in the UCL that isnt cup tied?

I agree with the idea of facing Barca...that way, we get beaten by a better team (hopefully not by 6-0, or worse)..and thats that...but to go out to Celtic...Porto...:yuck:

maybe if your team beat us at the san siro, or done their job properly in other matches, you wouldn't be relying on other results ... your lack of knowledge is a disgrace ...

we should dump all of the players who started tonight save Gourcuff, i couldn't care less if any of those never played for us again they are all average players at best, they don't even deserve to be considered squad players ... the primavera team would have more pride.

I can not believe i sat and watched all of tha rubbish! my god i knew we were struggling, but that was horrible. I seem to remmeber a team that could pass a team with pace and skill, now its all so sssslllllllooooowwwww!

Where is our spark, our leadership?

Where is our passion?

where the hell is our flair?

never mind anything else, if we dont sign some players in Jan the i am afraid there is no chance in hell we are going to qualify for the champions league next year. Because we sure as hell arent going to win if with these 15-16 players.

Only 2 players have shown anything all season, KAKA and the one and only GATTUSO. we need reinforcements and i dont want to read another piece from that muppet Galliani that we have a "great" team or that we dont need new players, is he blind by any chance?

We should have bought players after (sorry people!) Istanbul disaster, becuase the youngsters would have had 2 full years at the club by now and would have been invaluable at this point. Why so many injuries? do the train by playing rugby or something?

I hope we never witness what we witnessed against lille, we shere ****!

Well, actualy I'm looking forward to the comments from the management about this disaster, they should have ran out of excuses, and I want to hear comments from Berlusconi and what he has in store for the club, iow what are his future plans for the club to get back to winning ways.

Because if now they're going to say "we are fine", "we don't need reinforcements" again, even the strongest of optimists are going to stop believing them.

To get back on topic : Keita is a good player indeed, but we already have enough midfielders right?

Also I think this match would have ended differently if :

a) we didn't have 9 injured players and we could play it with our best team.
b) it would have mattered to win the group.

At least that's what I'm trying to make myself believe or I won't be able to sleep well yet again.

Pireloke we have 7 central midfielders to fill 4 positions, that's not enough ...

i'd like to believe your 2 points also, but i have trouble as i don't believe the majority of the players we have are good enough to be on the bench let alone in the first 11. It's time to lose the deadwood players and rejuvenate the squad, something that if they done gradually over the past 5 years it wouldn't need doing now in such a drastic and urgent manner.

Right, everyone, first things first follow Zlat's instructions and ignore the baby that's sad Milan didn't go out there to win a meaningless match, he will certainly be banned as soon as one of the Admins are online. IF people persist to argue with this poster, then they themselves will get into trouble, which nobody wants.

As for the match, I don't really care, it was meaningless for us and clearly we had our minds on Torino.

Howlers from Zeljko Kalac and Dario Simic allowed Lille to grab a 2-0 victory away to a desperately disappointing Milan, who were already qualified top of Group H. This result - and the 2-2 draw between AEK and Anderlecht - saw the French outfit through to the next phase.

The Rossoneri were already sure of their leadership spot going into the final game, but Carlo Ancelotti opted to field one of the best line-ups at his disposal to build confidence in this difficult time. Kaka, Marcos Cafu, Dida, Serginho, Giuseppe Favalli and Gennaro Gattuso were out injured, but Massimo Ambrosini returned from his setback. Yoann Gourcuff was given a new more creative role.

Lille were in third place, but could aim for qualification, a UEFA Cup berth or risk a European exit at the end of the evening.

Pippo Inzaghi had an early penalty appeal for a shirt-tug waved away, but the French side were more motivated and it showed. Keita dispossessed Marek Jankulovski for a Peter Odemwingie strike well parried by Zeljko Kalac at the near post.

It was only a warning, as on seven minutes Kalac was surprised by a long-range Bodmer snapshot and his ineffectual flap placed the ball right into the path of Odemwingie from six yards.

Malicki was tested by a couple of Andrea Pirlo free kicks and Inzaghi's glancing shot, but more defensive chaos between Dario Simic and Daniele Bonera almost granted Odemwingie his second of the match.

Another Simic error passed the ball straight to a Lille player and Odemwingie's effort was beaten away by Kalac.

Keita's snapshot from 30 metres took a deflection to whistle past the post, but Milan seemed to have absolutely no width and tried to aim all their attacks through the centre, leaving Gourcuff isolated on the left flank.

When Gourcuff was able to get into the game on 37 minutes, he tried to dribble through three defenders inside the area and hesitated too long to pull the trigger.

Kalac flew to fingertip a hopeful Cabaye free kick over the bar, although he seemed late to it and could easily have caught the ball.

Borriello had Milan's best chance of the first half in stoppages, hooking down a pass and storming into the area, where Malicki rushed out to smother the finish. It didn't help calm the crowd, who jeered the Rossoneri as they left the field.

Clarence Seedorf replaced Cristian Brocchi at half-time to spark some more creativity and Borriello was able to continue after a clash of heads with Tavlaridis.

Simic continued to disappoint in central defence and was fortunate Graham Poll did not consider his shirt tug on Keita to be worthy of a penalty. Odemwingie sprung the offside trap - Simic at fault - to sprint into the area only to side-foot straight into Kalac's chest.

Inzaghi couldn't get enough contact on a corner kick and nodded it wide. Kalac continued to seem insecure in goal and pushed an apparently harmless long-range strike out for a corner when he could've caught it.

Kaka replaced Ambrosini, moving Gourcuff to the right. Jankulovski's first touch let him down on Seedorf's assist, but Inzaghi was unlucky not to score on the hour mark when his towering header thumped the crossbar from a corner kick.

Inzaghi held off his marker and placed an angled drive towards the far corner, where Malicki held well, but Lille doubled their lead.

Kader Keita combined passes with Bodmer to split the Rossoneri defence and stroke his finish past Kalac. However, once again the Australian goalkeeper and Jankulovski were slow to react.

Ricardo Oliveira took over from Borriello in a final bid to make the scoreline less embarrassing, but it could've been 3-0 when Bodmer spun round to force a tough save out of Kalac. From the resulting corner kick out to the edge of the area, Cabaye's fierce strike smashed against the crossbar.

Oliveira's hopeful long-range effort didn't trouble Malicki and both teams ran down the clock for Milan's first ever home defeat to a French club.

Well, the press reported Ancelotti wanted to win this match anyway to build up confidence for the league (Gazetta dello Sport and several sites this morning), guess confidence is very low now, we have to beat Torino next sunday, I think any other result means Ancelotti out at this point.

Open note to all the Greek fans of AEK, or which ever team got eliminated:

We really could care less what you will or wont do in Athens...or any other city in Greece...you are only belittling yourselves by these useless posts, which will soon be deleted anyway...so, if you wish, continue, they wont be here tomorrow.

I do however doubt that we "sold" the match...it doesnt matter to us who else qualifies from a group we have already won...

something needs to change, i dont think it should be a managerial change. there needs to be a spark, an edge to milan. We had it when sheva was there, we knew he was there, even if he dint score, he would do something to inspire, or instll confidence. i look at our stikers, they just dont believe they can score. i know whe have hit the woodwork a lot of times, thats not becuase we are cursed or something, we just arent accurate enough. our strikees get the ball and panic, now this is nothing a good few results will not sort out, but that is the exact reason why today was important. We go out, score, win game and bingo, we feel good again.

Now because it was a meaningless game for milan, does that mean we should not try to impress? i mean we mant to show other teams that they dont want to face us in the next round, because even our reserves are good! but we did the opposite, now most teams will think they can beat milan, i hope they cant, but soon i will start thinking that they can beat us.

Hi Guys !

just back from Milan and as you can guess very happy !
Ok Milan was qualified with Kaka on the bench.
Lille did anyway a great performance ! And if you are objective you will recognize that we also have good players: Bodmer, Keita, Odemwingie, Makoun.
Hope to keep them next year (I know it will be difficult)
I can see that our greek colleagues are very fairplay. Sorry but I was not impressed by their team.

We are both qualified.
see you in final ;)
