View Full Version : Antonio Cassano to Milan?
Real Madrid wil Cassano laten gaan
Keert Cassano terug naar AS Roma?

cassano may look forward to a new club, it is remarkable because real has just bought em a year ago.
cassano rarely plays. real, that bought 'em for 4.5mil€ from as roma is prepared to let cassano go transfer free.
as roma is already interested in purchasing him and AC MILAN are looking forward to sign em as well.
According to goal.com, Cassano is coming on loan to Milan with an option to buy him at 4.5 million €, not bad... I think its a good job, if he proves to be good for milan we can buy him, at not so big price, and if he doesnt satisfy he goes back to Madrid...

I heard some news that we will have cassano on loan until the end of season, and i think that he will join milaN.:d
Cassano is great player... He was linked with Inter too, but personally, I don't like him in Inter, not because he is not good, because other reasons... Anyway, I think him and Gila would make one hell of a duo in attack, there are like born one for another...
a deal like this would be okay, low risk as we only pay wages. But I don't like spoiled brats in my team.
And..the deal with Cassano doesn't seem as close to completion as it was made out before. Madrid at least wants an option on Kaka(expected) or for Milan to buy him outright. No loan deal apparently. It also says tht Cassano is of interest to teams in England and that we may turn to Iaquinta or Suazo if the Cassano deal doesn't work out.

I think calciomercato will have more up to date news..considering it's in italian and we're dealing with italian teams and all. They get news/rumours way before any of the english sites.

well i have a different story
it's not a dif story, it's just that the above is a bit old news from yesterday.
What Mystik posted seems to be the latest developments on the matter, at least if you want to believe the rumour mill, that is.
Well I believe that the negogiations for Cassano are still on, may have calmed down, but are still on.
Well I believe that the negogiations for Cassano are still on, may have calmed down, but are still on.
I believe that too..because even the Palermo boss commented on the situation. He said (more or less) that Kaka - Gila - Cassano in attack would rip teams apart.
Cassano would be a perfect additon, also because he is not a box player like Gilardino and Inzaghi. His and Kaka's cretivity would be very usefull for the strikers to score more goals. Only negative thing is he will not be able to play in the Champions League because he has already played for Real Madrid. I hope this "news" will come true... :)

I think we may forget every deal with Real Madrid in the next ten years, even to loan out the San Bernabeau grassmower dude and his machine, they will demand an option on Kaka', you can count on that.

Seasons Greetings all! Nice to be back, was out of office, and offline for a minute there...doing the family thing.
OK, I have no issues with Cassano coming, (if he comes) he is talented, though a bit of a unstable character...lets see what Carlo can do with him...who knows what he will produce? But, its well worth the risk, what with Maldini and Billy there to inflict a little "in-training" discipline :D
For me Cassano is always welcomed as he is a super player when he plays with his heart as he did with Roma. KAka+Gilardino-Cassano, that is a super attack if they manage to combine well in the end. I hop we sign him and then we can start real battle for 4th place and prepare for next season...

I dont mind, he can come 2 milan and see how it goes as its only a loan deal and if he is good then we can keep him, but for the rest of the season for what tho? he cannot play in the CL and we really need players who can play in that competition.

Before all of you start celebrating, maybe you should read Mystik's post again.
As said, Real isn't interested in loaning him but only selling him with an option on Kaka for loan deal.
Since other teams are interested ( English ones) and since Real won't loan him, if Milan wants to get Cassano then you'll have to make much better offer than all the others, or get him cheaper but risk to lose something much more worthy than Tonino !
Does it say selling him with an option on Kaka? I interpreted it as either we buy him outright..or we can loan him if we give Madrid an option on Kaka.
Does it say selling him with an option on Kaka? I interpreted it as either we buy him outright..or we can loan him if we give Madrid an option on Kaka.
Your translation was perfect Mystik.
It does says that Madrid wants to sell him only, but a loan deal can be made only if Milan gives them option on Kaka. ( which won't happen, and that's why i rule out the loan option)
As Zlat said, it was the best translator ever. Maybe you can share it with us :)
If the rumours are accurate with the price and all, I say it's definitely worth risking. Although I like my strikers to be tall, and we have none, I guess Cassano is good enough to compensate for his height

The report also says that Milan and Real Madrid dont enjoy a good relationship because of the Kaka fiasco but ALSO because they bought Higuain, a player Milan was trying to acquire.

OKI eveyone knows calderon is big schit and leave cassano(he is very talented but his brain isnt) take suazo he can play in CL and that is ideal solution for milan
Spare me! I've never liked Cassano, his attitude is crappy. Does no one recall the coaches who have told him he needs to grow up? and do we have what it would take to feed him so he can score? We show our desperation...
I have a dillemma on him because of his character and his current crap form. He may also desrupt us now that it seems we are having some momentum with the last 7 points in 3 matches. Having said this Cassano has huge talent and needs help (he also needs to help himself as well since he's 24 now) so not to waste this talent. A loan deal would do well IMO since the 6 month period will be like a test for Cassano. Obviolsy no option on Kaka for Real.
Antonio Cassano is the next Del Piero, so befor Juve signs him, we should get him as soon as possible :5ok: Plus he is very good looking as well unlike Ricardo Olivera :bri:

Many of us have very different -- and peculiar (!) -- reasons for wanting or not wanting Cassano. However, some facts remain:
1) He is one of the brighter talents of Italian football and one whose career is at risk at Real.
2) He is a creative player who can play behind the main striker.
3) He has a great touch.
4) He can be our main Serie A weapon (since he is cup-tied I believe), giving the other strikers/forwards a chance to rest for Europe.

A loan deal would do no harm. We have too many senior players for him to dominate or disturb our dressing room. Wasn't Henry erratic in his behavior too?
I wouldnt get Higuain, Gago and MArcalo all for 4 mil if I had to let them have first option for our Ricky magic boy!!! If Real doesnt want to sell Cassano to Milan without us letting them having first option for Kaka', then let him go!
Cassano has the talent, and has had the chances, and he has proven over and over that he has all the temper, and none of the character needed to succeed consistently in major teams/tournaments.
I don't want him.
and, he's not good looking... not that I care...

Antonio Cassano is close to joining Milan on a loan deal in January, according to the latest reports in Spain.
The Bari-born striker is near to ending his unfortunate adventure with the Galacticos and Rossoneri officials are allegedly in Madrid to finalise the details of the deal which would bring the former Azzurri man to the San Siro.
The Spanish giants do not intend to accept the player’s indiscipline any longer and are willing to accept less than the £3.5m invested in January to bring the striker to the Santiago Bernabeu.
If the two clubs should reach an agreement, Cassano might move immediately to Milan on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy him for £3.2m at the end of the term.
The only obstacle which might now prevent the transfer could be represented by Real Madrid’s repeated attempts to bring Kaka to Spain. If the Merengues were to ask for an option on the Brazilian player to be included in the agreement the negotiation would be interrupted.
In the meantime, Leandro Grimi is expected to land in Milan on Thursday, where he will sign a five-year contract.
The 21-year-old Argentine, who arrives with the added bonus of an EU passport, grew up in the Huracan youth team before moving to Racing Avellaneda this year, when he was voted as the best young player in the Apertura tournament.
“Joining an important club like Milan is a dream come true, I am very happy,” stated Grimi before leaving Argentina.
Cassano is problematic as character :rone: :rone: :rone: :rone:
We already have threads on this...
Oh sweet, we are about to sing an angel... He was such an angel while he was playing for Rome and now in Real Madrid...
cud he reli mess things up any more than they alredy are? as long as its a simple deal with a 5 mill option at the end, i dun see what we have to lose from this. we all noe cassano's potential; he wud fit in perfectly if he played to it. actually, he wud be perfect for our situation if he brought the right stuff. he cud provide gila with more assists, and if gila is on form then he can start scoring like mad. it wud certainly be interesting to think about; kaka, cassano, and gila. all young and with immense potential. i say pull the trigger, its win-win.

I think Milan would be an excellent club for Cassano to grow up in. He'd be learning the right attitude and approach to professional football from legends of the game like Maldini, Billy, Cafu, etc :)
yeah, as someone said, I doubt he could cause that much of a negative impact in 4 months considering what's happening here already. Only Gila is really scoring and that's just happened recently.
I think we should give him a shot, if it works it works, if not he moves on and we look for a serious replacement. at this moment in time he is probably the best realistic option for us.
He doesn't want to come on loan... if it's a loan deal he'd prefer to stay at Madrid
http://www.calciomercato.com/index.php?c=12&a=28575
Milan want him on loan to see if he'll adapt properly to our system..but Cassano would either prefer to be bought outright..or he stay at Madrid. There's also something about us not wanting to agree to their 4 million offer(not sure if it's euro or pounds)
Just buy him! We have the best training center in the world - Milanello, the best coaches ( well, at least among the best), there are players like Billy, Maldini, Pippo, Serginho, Seedorf in training and I dont see how Cassano can cause us any problems. Im sure he can adopt and play like he did with Roma, and then..... :)

One doesn't need to be a genious to tell that a player as talanted as Cassano would adapt pretty well to our system ... after all, Capello's Roma wasn't any dif in their style of play and he flourished there.
The only concern Milan has, IMO, is his character or the lack thereof and by asking for a loan deal first they just wanna see how he would fit i.e. if he would create troubles or not.
I think this "whether he will adapt properly to Milan's system" is just a naive excuse and some sand in the eyes. Problem is, Real are well aware of that and, given their fresh experience with cassano and his antics, they would certainly bet on him falling out with milan's coaching staff and management before the season has even ended and this will result in one thing only - Real ends up with the same spoiled brat, only a year older ... and they would still have to find a way to get rid of him.

Agreed! but cassano will alwais have value in the market due to his skill. he will alwais be a tradeable asset, so i dun see a reason for us not payin that lowly figure. if he works out then we have solved a big problem with a small amount of money, thus being able to invest in players like suazo, rosina, sneider, oddo, abidal, and alex.

Agree that his talent will always be there and whether he's 24 or 25 won't make much of a dif on his value.
What will greatly affect his value should he continue with his antics at Milan, however, would be the diminished demand for a player who's out of control and failed at Roma, Real, and Milan under some of the best coaches in football today.
With such an "impressive" resume, not many clubs would be willing to get him even at a bargain price for a player of his talent.
I think if he comes to Milan..he'll understand that it's one of his last chances to impress at a big club and secure a spot in the national team, which EVERY player would love. I'm sure(hope) he won't be half the troublemaker he was in the past.
Plus, dont forget that Donadoni is now Italy's manager, so... all rossoneri players are welcomed, thats the fact now.

wishful thinking that we do share. Problem is that, if you remember what he said when he was leaving Roma for Real, his statements had the same contents - how he is gonna change and his bad-boy days are behind him. The rest is history.
As for getting in the NT being an additional incentive for him, if being part of the NT at a World Cup event didn't make him change his way, I really don't know what would.

all in-form rossoneri have always been welcomed to the NT, with or without Donadoni at the helm ... for instance, Donadoni didn't break a sweat dropping Gila from the NT when he was having a hard time ... or leaving Nesta on the bench even in a friendly game when, at the beginning of the season, he was struggling to find his form at Milan
Brocchi and Ambro were called up, with Gila and Pippo always in there. Plus Nesta ( of course), Pirlo, Gattuso.... Im just saying that his chances for playing in NT of Italy are higher if he joins Milan then if he joins Roma, Inter, or stays in Real. For me he is welcomed as he is 5 times better than Oliveira.

Plus, leaving Milan players on the becnh in a friendly games is only a bonus for Milan, if you remember the days when Juve players were all somehow "injured" when Italy was playing and then few days later they would all play for Juve... that is what im talking about. If anyone has some influence on Donadoni now, its Milan.

Ambro was called up because that game was just a friendly at the beginning of the season (vs Hrvatska, if I am not wrong) and all the starters and NT regulars were left out in order to better prepare for the season that was about to start ... not to mention that most of them had had little time to rest and prepare because of the WC.
In fact Ambro was one of the few decent players with some international experience Donadoni could choose from and, not surprisingly, Ambro was even captain of the Nt that night.
And Ambro isn't a bad player at all when in form - Lippi had also called him up on several ocassions before that.
As for Brocchi, well, as I said, all in-form rossoneri have been called up in NT and there aren't many better performing Italian midfielders than Brocchi this season. Also, with Gattuso injured, Brocchi was the natural replacement for Rino in the NT as well.

I am all for Milan players being rested in Nt games but the Nesta case wasn't that since after that "incident", Nesta was quoted on a couple of occasions for saying that he was not happy about what had happened and was even considering retiring from NT.
Leaving Nesta on the bench had hardly anything to do with favouring Milan ... the guy was just in poor form and that's why he got dropped. In that same period, Gila wasn't even called up ... and, again, resting him and favouring Milan had nothing to do with it.

There's no reason why a person with a bad attitude cannot excel for his team. I would like to give an example for Ibrahimovic, who it seems does what he likes at inter, but Mancini gets so sick of trying to control him, he allows him to continue with his antics. Capello instead gives him a fine and relegates him to last choice striker, while what he should have done is say play a Match for real madrid B instead.
(I think) it says something like the deal with Cassano is not done yet..and the management/Carlo want to place some trrust in Oli. It also depends on the result of the Borriello case.
Bojinov-Cassano, intrigo.
Here it says that Milan want Bojinov and that Galliani has given an ultimatum to Cassano. He has been forced to since Cassano has refused the idea of being loaned till the end of the season. Also the Borriello situation complicates the exchange for Iaquinta. Bojinov says the deal to go to Milan would not depend on him..but Milan has to deal with both Juve and Fiorentina.
*Not a perfect translation..maybe Tony can help me out..:D*
does anyone realise that Cassano will be cup tied for this season? He's already been featured for Real in the UCL. Bojinov would be a better bargain. Though i would like both of them at Milan

It makes him even less intersting for us. A loan-deal is much preferred with this currently overweight and always in bad temper & unprofessional fat boy.
We are in need for good players but we simply can not afford to buy a time-bomber in Milan dressing room.

Cassano would be the best for you... I think he is the perfect partner for Gilardino. Di Vaio is too similar to Gila, and Iakinta would be OK, but he is box striker, just like Gila, and they won't work together... What Gila needs is a striker who can also assist, and that is Cassano.

I don't want either of those 3. And if I would have to choose then it would be Cassano, but I wouldn't expect anything from him.
Actually, I wont mind having Cassano at all. I dont think we have that much to lose even if we bring him on a permanent deal. In all likelihood, if we gets regular playing time, he will show his worth and will improve our attack tremendously. And the worst case scenario? If he flops or misbehaves, we toss him on the bench or in the stands and sell him when the window reopens---we will take a loss, but it shouldnt be too much. I think a 4-5 M gamble is more than worth it for a player with that sort to talent.
I have a feeling we will not bring in a striker in January transfer window. It seems we will go with Pippo, Oliveira and Gilardino - and if necessary Aubame Yang.
Also because, we will maybe play more and more with a 5 man midfield, Gattuso, Brocchi, Pirlo, Seedorf and Kaka...
If Cassano is still in Real in the summer, then we may move for him, but not now.

Personally, I'm starting to sit on the fence with regards to getting a new forward. Should we get one, a player that plays a role similar to Cassano is the best option, as currently that's an area we are missing in our forwardline.
However, Kaka and Gila are developing a fantastic understanding now and are working well together, so rather than getting a new forward I'd continue with Kaka playing that slightly more advanced playmaker/supporting forward role. For the more astute, you will probably notice similarities in the role Kaka will play to that of Gullit in the old Milan, when he supported Van Basten.
Another reason for this is even more next season we can build the team further around the 5 man midfield system, as Gourcuff has regularly played oon the right for Rennes (and can play on the left), which allows for Pirlo being supported centrally by Rino, should we be able to secure another midfielder (ie. someone who can probably play on the left) then we'll be able to develop a strong side utilizing our spine in attack (Kaka, Gila, Pirlo and Gourcuff).
With regards to Cassano though, he wouldn't be my first option due to his character but even more need to play in the first team, as I wouldn't see how I could accomade him so easily.

If Cassano is still in Real in the summer, then we may move for him, but not now.
i have a filling milan wont bring anyone this january beside grimi :stress:

In addition to that..with Brocchi being on fire and the whole Pirlo Gattuso Brocchi thing working wonders in our midfield then u add in Seedorf's *apparent* unbenchable qualities and Kaka's obvious need to be in the starting 11 it all points to a 5 man midfield from there. The 4-4-1-1 is getting us good results at the moment.

We still need more strenghtening in defense.
Mancio welcomes Cassano Monday 8 January, 2007
Inter Coach Roberto Mancini has admitted that he would be more than happy to have Antonio Cassano in his squad next season.
The Bari-born striker has been paired with a January return to the peninsula after his relationship with Fabio Capello deteriorated, although there have been no firm offers.
“I would be happy to have Cassano, I think he is a player who has great technical qualities, but is going through a difficult moment, which I am sure he will overcome,” said Mancini.
“We would all have a lot to gain if he were to return to Italy. However, I am aware that it might be difficult to integrate him into a side now that the season is well underway.
“In any case, I don’t think that Real Madrid will let him leave – yesterday he was on the bench. Andriy Shevchenko? I would be happy to sign him as well.”
Mancini was also questioned about Luis Figo and his transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad in July, but the Coach insisted that he did not speak to the player about this issue.
“We had nothing to clarify – he has a contract with Inter. But contracts expire and it is normal for players to take the decisions that they consider the best. In any case, I never thought he would leave in January.”
The tactician has yet to decide which players will face Empoli in the first leg of the Coppa Italia quarter-final, which he believes will be an important test in view of Saturday’s Serie A match with Torino.
“I will decide who to call-up after today’s training, it depends on my men’s condition. We worked well in Bahrain, but we must now pick up from where we left.
Tomorrow’s match will be useful to evaluate the team’s condition, which seems to be good,” concluded Mancini.
Do you guys believe in this?? Inter also want to have Cassano... I don't like him here, just because we have Ibracadabra...

Of course Inter wants him, they want every player that is linked to Milan, it's Morratti's new game, let's dig some deeper and buy everything, Buffon, Messi, Cassano, he tries to compete with Chelsea and Real Madrid almost lol, only one day he will notice the chest is empty and then the Italian FISC will have a word with him :)
I can't wait to see Cassano and Ibrahomovic in the same locker room...
