Installing Fonts

does anybody know hoe to install fonts iv installed 3 new fonts that i have downloaded from the internet firstly im to the admin of this pc so i couldnt do it logged on as myself so iv installed the fonts logged on as the administrator of the pc so the fonts are installed deffinatley because ehn i look in my fonts folder i can see them. but why is it when i come to use these font is Microsoft Word they wont work there not even on the fonts list how do i get them to work on my user name on the pc! i need these fonts for some work so i really need a answer thanx guys if ypou can help.

Did you have word open when you installed the fonts? If you did you'll either need to close word and then re-open it, so it can update the font tables, or you will need to restart the machine, again so the font tables can be updated.

If it still doesn't work then it might be the type of font you have or the version of word you have, especially if when you type using the font nothing appears or some squares appear instead of the characters you've typed.

thanx 4 your help. the fonts work now but one of them only types the letters A & F other letters are displayed as empty spaces do you have a solution?

I'm not entirely sure why that happens to be honest, it happens with some of the fonts i use also. I think it's something to do with the keymapping or like i said before the newness of the font compared to the out of date software.

I don't really know how to fix that problem, i would either suggest using another piece of software or a newer version of Word, having a quick check on the page you downloaded the font from to see if there are any help/read me files to go with it or failing that type it into yahoo or google (something like "characters missing in font") and what the results churn out.

It's probably something simple, but i'm not smart enough to know the answer :D
