Not good enough do you agree or not?
Do you think we dont take serie A seriously?
Will Ancelotti win us another Scudetto?
Would love to hear everyones thoughts, i believe we are dont take serie a seriously and ancelotti wont win us another scudetto due to playing the same players everyweek.
And 3 Scudetti in 13 yrs is not good enough for a "huge club"
well, serie A is not our prime target. We are not juve nor Inter. CL means everything for us. Just look at what Ancelotti achieved. So bad in Serie A but great in CL and he still keep going with us. Thats one of many reasons why I like Milan!

In the end, the big dogs are remembered by their CL success, not how many domestic titles won.
It's easy to dominate club play because you go up against the same teams every season and get to know their system. Europe is much more unpredictable.
And 3 Scudetti in 13 yrs is not good enough for a "huge club"
Seven CLs are, though.
I have to say that I agree with Trequartista bcoz ACM is 10 Scudetti behind Juve  which is a bit hard to take for a Milan fan.
But I feel since this is the last season of Paolo so my heart say AC Milan will end up with a doule trophy win :5ok: This is the ONLY way to say Good Bye to the greatest ever Rossoneri :bri:
Paolo Deserves another Scudetto and its as simple as that :)

I think that, as has been mentioned before, Milan always has as its primary target, the UCL..and it is very difficult to compete for both the domestic title, and the UCL in the same season.
Man U were very lucky their treble year, and very few, teams, if any, have had opportunity to obtain both, in recent times.
I quite rather the UCL over the Serie A, and obviously so does Berlusconi.
So, while we have won 3 scudetti in 13 years, we have done better in Europe over the same time frame, and this for me is the important difference.
Whats the point of having a huge number of Scudetti, if u r an also-ran in Europe?

also, let's not forget calciopoli and what it was all about - in a league like the Italian, with so many "external" factors in play, it's quite difficult to say how many scudetti Milan would have or would not have won if it was a fair game.
So, at least to me, the sweet taste of a scudetto is long gone and I couldn't care less about Milan winning or not winning a league that has seen so much controversy over the years that it's dif to keep track who deserves to be champion and who is champion but probably shouldn't be, and so on, and so on.
If Milan was playing in EPL for example, I guess I would care more about domestic titles but for the scudetto I haven't cared for some time now and don't see myself doing so for at least another several years ... if we win it, fine, if not ... whatever.
Put me down in the minority then :) CL is more important in many ways but winning one's own league and the tradition and prestige it carries will always remain as or more important, to me at least. Taking for example our famous unbeaten run and I could go on. So I would say 3 is not enough but obviously the CL record is truly great and a target for good reason.

There is nothing wrong rezag in winning ones own league...surely it is quite important..but in an ever decreasing globe, domestic success is always a bit "less than" international success, which for me, is what the UCL represents.
If this anology makes sense to you, it will be easier to understand my position:
If I were say the English national team, and I won the tournament (no longer a real competition) held for the British Isles say 20 times out of 25, but won the European equivalent once in all that time, would I be considered to be as successful, as say Scotland who won (for arguments sake) the Euro competition 10 times in 25 attempts?
Or, lets look at it this way: Argentina over the years has dominated the Copa America, but globally, who cares? The globe is in love with Brazil, who have won the "big one" the World Cup, what, 5 times to Argentinaīs 2.
See what I mean?
On the other hand, I quite believe in the importance of winning the Serie A, but not at the expense of the UCL title.
3 CL's were won in last 13 years so it's not like Milan was more succesful in Europe than in Italy.
And it's not true that winning the CL is harder than winning the league ( at least this goes for English and Italian teams)
CL is all about timing, little luck and of course quality, while in the league it's all about consistancy and quality ( this goes for English teams mostly, concidering we can't make such a statement about serie A after Calciopoli).
You can have 7 bad/awful months and still win the CL.....to win the league you must have at least 8 good/great months
Edit :
in 2000 , Real finished 5th in La Liga , concentrated on CL and won it
in 2002, Real finished 3rd, 11 points behind Valencia, concentrated on CL and won it
in 2003 , Milan finished 3rd, 11 points behind Juve, concentrated on CL and won it
in 2005, Liverpool finished 5th , 37 points behind Chelsea ( :stupid: ), concentrated on CL and won it
in 2007, Milan finished 4th , 36 points behind ( :stupid: ) Inter, concentrated on CL and won it
Monaco in 2004, Arsenal in 2006, Liverpool in 2007...they all gave up from the league and were rested for CL
Hats off to teams like Milan from 2005, Juve from 2003, Levercusen from 2002....but they were handicaped in their attempts to win CL and the League, so they failed.
Why are we even having the leagues if we won't try to win them but we'll concentrate on the league that brings the big bucks aka CL ?

Tony is right as usual
In England the same 4 clubs always make the CL, in Italy at least 3 are known any given year (calciopoli being an exception), Barca and Real are almost certain in Spain and before last year Bayern from Germany.
The winner any year is most likely going to come from these teams and by the last few months of the season it is often the case that some of these select few will have fallen behind in the league to the point that they no longer have a realistic opportunity. Essentially the CL is now the consolation prize that those teams compete for, the league challengers still try obviously but even a squad as wealthy as Chelsea has failed to compete successfully in both.

Again, I think globalisation is to be blamed for our desire to win in Europe over domestic triumph.
I was taken aback by Madridīs title celebrations this term...what extravagance I thought, for just a league title...but then I recalled that this was their first trophy in 4 years, so it had to be celebrated big time.
Milan, under Ancelotti has taken immense strides in re-establishing ourselves as a major force, not only in the Serie A, but in Europe, and as long as Berlu is at the helm, Europe (with greater returns on investment, and in terms of expanding the clubs fan base globally) will be the focus of the club, and I cannot disagree with him.
How long will it be before the "European Super League" replaces domestic leagues? I will wager that I will see it in my lifetime. (More on this anon).
The argument I hold to, is that if we can be successfull in Europe, then domestic success is sure to follow...it might sound a**backward, but IMO, success breeds success...and winning develops and maintains a winning mentality.
There is no argument against which is more difficult to win, its obvious that the Serie A is more challenging, as one must show a significantly greater level of consistency to win over 30+ games, vs the fewer games in the UCL.
Though one could argue that better teams are found in the UCL, but this is a cyclopian view, and not taking into consideration that a "Siena" can beat a "Milan" on any given day, which, though its less likely to happen, can still happen.
All in all, I am estatic over our UCL victory, even moreso because of Interīs scudetto victory...which I am sure turned to ashes when they saw Pippo score the second in Athens...I have lived through seeing Milan win the Serie A, and win the UCL, and I can tell you, no emotion has been as intense, as seeing il capitano lift the "big eared" cup.
None.
I was thinking about this and i realized :
If CL was actually a league where the best 14/16/18 teams from Europe ( European Super League as Warro calls it) play a league system ( everybody against everybody twice per season) Milan could have and probably would have won the CL in 2004, 2005, 2006 but they wouldn't have won it in 2003 and 2007 (when they actually won CL).
I find this really funny :)

A CL is equal to 3 league titles if not more, lets not forget that. So winning 3 CLs is like winning 9 league titles.
Good teams win leagues, true greatness is in CL. Milan has been playing well in CL for years now and its no coincidence
Also, if it wasn't for Moggi and co, Milan would have certainly got the deserved titles in 04/05 and 05/06. That would make it 5 league titles in 13 years, which conisdering our CL record, and the competitive league in Italy, is indeed quite good.
Milan should continue to set CL as the main priority followed by Serie A.

Just remind you Tony that Barca really deserved for the champ of 2006.
We won the scudetto 3 times in the last 13 years, Juventus won it 5 times, Inter won it 2 times and Lazio and Roma each 1 time. So it is really not that bad. And if you look back 16 years, you can add up 3 more scudettos to Milan's total scudettos.
But I agree that it is time for another scudetto and with the right moves on the transfermarket (1 defender, 1 midfielder, 1 attacker) we will be one of the topfavorites to win it.
The board of Milan says that we concentrate mostly on winnig CL, but I think every team that is in CL, does its utmost best to be as long as possible in the tournament. The only reason why our management can say that we are mostly concentrating on winning the CL is because we have been so succesfull in it and it is thereby a handy excuse for not winning the scudetto so many times. I said 'handy' excuse, but actually there is a lot of truth in it. Because we are so succesfull in CL the latest years, we put a lot of energy in it and that is one of the causes we don't win the scudetto.
So if the Milan management would say the truth they would say:" CL is our primary objective if we get in the quarter finals, if not then we should win the scudetto."
CL gives you another type of experience, atmosphere, and the extravaganza to play on the big stage with over millions of people watching YOU play. That's why CL is for players who can shine on the big stage (not Gila, yet lol), while domestic league is a little less prestigious.
While a super league sounds absolutely amazing, I don't see why we should do that. It's not fun being used to watching Milan vs Man U twice every year. The fun part about CL is exactly because you won't very often meet the same opponent (although it's not the case for Milan when they almost always look to be destined to play against Bayern & Man U).

Yes but why don't you add the previous 4 years when we won it successively in the years: 1991-1992, 1992-1993, 1993-1994?
Would make it 6 in 17. Throw in the Calciopoli Scandal, as I believe, like rino, we were robbed of 2 more... and in 1989-1990 when Napoli were awarded 2 controversial points when a coin hit Alemao, which at the time put them on the same points as Milan.
On the 2nd last game of the season, Milan played Verona, in Verona. Simone scored first and Milan seemed destinded to secure the championship until Lo Bello over took as referee. Get a load of this... Sacchi, Rijkaard, Van Basten and Costacurta were all sent off.
Verona came back and won 2-1 due to a dubious goal that looked decidedly offside and the championship went up in smoke.
So due to unclear circumstances Milan should've won more.
