Lets start a thread where we shall discuss abt tennis and players :)
There are already threads on Aus-Open and Wimbelden, but it would be good a idea to merge them and discuss every thing related to tennis in one place. e.g next is US-Open, so we shall discuss it here. No need to open new thread for every single even ;)
I hope Mods will merge those threads with this one. I think Zlatanov will do it :5ok:

I voted for French Open, bcoz
1- I like the atmosphere of Paris ( in TV ofcourse:) )
2- Roger Federer is NOT the favorite 2 win on clay :bri:
3- I am AC Milan fan, so I like the dark orange color of clay which is close to Red ;)
4- I like Rafael Nadal style of play. He will be the best in 1 year time :5ok:

I don't like Wimbelden compared to French Open, bcoz I am SICK of watching Venus William lifting the trophy every year:wallbang:
Its a horrible scene, when u consider the beauty queens like Hingis:5att: , Myskina:5att: , P.Shnyder:5att: , Ivanavic :5att: not winning and WILLIAMS, Amelie. M, Henin winning all the time. Its pathetic :mad:

Nadal will be world #1 next year, and a time will come when Federer will just dream to defeat him as he is only 21 and already has the edge over the Great Roger (8-5) and almost defeated him in the Wimbelden final :5ok:

To see the Horror show of William sisters final at Wimbledon will be the death of ladies Tennis. This final should be named as 'scary Movie 6' :swars: :5nana:
I think i will quit watching ladies tennis if these 2 met in the finals next time :wallbang:

I love playing tennis but I dont know why I dont like watching the tennis competition. Maybe the game on TV is not exciting. But I like watching (from the side of the field) good players play. :D

Vamos Nadal !! I'll watch this final this W-E and hope that he beats Federer !!

Why do I like Nadal ? He has a spectacular type of play and he runs a lot and can shoot some balls that other players even don't touch ...
Federer is clearly the best (technically speaking) but he is too classical, too clean.

Seems like there was 2 topics joined here. One on players and one on tournaments ...

I prefer Roland Garros because the games are amazing when the players are good on this surface. Anyway, this year has shown some interesting update in the world of tennis in Wimbledon: players playing near the net have nowadays no chance to win ... even in Wimbledon (remember that all matches were boring some years ago except one, the final between Rafter and Ivanisevic). And they play some games like if it was in Roland Garros.

And to finish, my pronostic is a very difficult win of Nadal (5 sets) against Federer because Nadal has improved the way he plays on this surface this year !!

Being a patriotic Aussie and I have been to almost all of the Opens since 2002, I must vote for the Aussie Open :p017:. Wouldnt mind the Wimbledon though.

The Wimbledon final was great and breathtaking. Even though i didnt mind Nadal winning it (sick of Roger Federer winning it all the times), I thought Nadal took too much time between the points, between the breaks..just between everything. If I had been the umpire of that match, I would have at least cautioned Nadal for time wasting on several occasions. That's aside. Nadal was playing great and gradually, i believe, he will dethrone Roger on all surfaces this year.

Has anyone been to other Grand Slams venues? I saw the French open, the Wimbledon, the US open on TVs but never had a chance to go to neither.

I must admit that this Australian Open is by far the most boring and ugly Tennis Grand Slam I have witnessed in quite some time. I mean its disgusting to have two monster looking females :yuck: in the final and to see Rafael Nadal struggling with fitness and letting boring players like Andy Murrey play in the final :wallbang: I hope Rger Federer or J.W. Tsonga wins the tournament, other wise Tennis would be dead for me :dazed:
Seerena Williams, Justin Henin, .............. :w163:

Roger Federer is the Diego Maradona of Tennis. Its unbelievable how easily he wins the grand slams. You know what, this victory of Federer also indicates the greatness of Rafael Nadal. I mean, lets face it, if it wasn't for Rafa, Federer would have already had 22 grand slams instead of 16, and that would have been a kind of record that could last for the next 50 - 100 years. Any way Congrats Roger. You are simply the best :star:

Now can't wait for the French Open, to seen Rafa once again beat Roger in the finals :D Djokovic, Murray, Roddik etc etc just leave it. U guys can't handle Roger :5milan:

If we are going to compare...than Federer is the Nesta of tennis..simple as that

I actually agree. No one should be compared to the great Maradona, not even the great Roger :finger: As for Federer = Nesta, well I like it, but sorry no Ronaldinho. Federer is an example of a real gentleman, a perfect professional, a role model for all :respect: :p283: but Ronaldinho is a guy fond of late night parties ahead of important games :55angel: Plus Roger has (or now had :tong:) pretty nice hair, compared to the scary hair style of Ronaldinho :evil:

Who says that Dinho had parties ahead of important matches, the journalist, they make me smile a lot. After Pele and Maradona, he is the third player who deserve to be mention. Just feel the team athmosphere now, he changed everything, he brought new spirit, and made new Milan.
So, you are right, i cant compere this two guy, one play in colective sport, and other in individual, but i compere their skils, and what Dinho can do in football, the same thing Roger do in tennis.

Federer is more elegant in his style of play so I wouldn't compare him to Ronaldinho at all. I agree with the Nesta comparisons and/or people like Zizou who are so great but make the game look effortless.

And what about WTA, which is your favourite, since Austalia Open, i'm Maria Kirilenko fan, she reached quater finals althou she wae underdog. I've wacht her against Sharapova and Safina, she did very well.
And for the top 10 ranking Jelena Jankovic amd also Ana Ivanovic but she isnt in top 10.

mzk57

........Ana Ivanovic but she isnt in top 10.
No one can come close to Ana Ivanovic at the moment :5ok: followed by Wozneaki, (incorrect spell :tong:) Carestea & Dementiva. If you are a true tennis fan, then you must like these players :heart:

Plus i feel Justin Henin, Sharapova & the William sisters should be banned from Tennis for obvious reasons :doh:

Just saw I totally forgot to reply here !!
Well, actually, I didn't vote, I never vote on the polls of forums ... :D

Nowadays, it looks like I'm the only one to believe that Nadal will be back at the top of this sport sooner or later (my prediction: Nadal will win his Roland Garros, will at least go to the final of Wimbledon and US Open, and he will end the season by winning his first Masters Tournament ...).

Why is that so?

I think we should start a Rafael Nadal fan club on MM

Happy to see that you kind of like French grand slam :cool:

Why ? Because it's a poll on a forum ... I always thought it was something useless, but as you're a fan of Rafa too, I go voting for once here.

To join the discussion about who Federer and Nadal could be in football, and by using only (former) Milan players, I would say:
- Federer is a kind of Kaka for tennis (everything seems easy + quiet life with his family)
- Rafael Nadal is a mix between Gattuso, Cafu and Pirlo :D: physically powerful (Cafu was a monster never stopping to run even at 35), technically better than what people generally think (it's the Pirlo part, Pirlo sometimes seems limited technically speaking, always doing the same movements, but they actually always work to pass an opponent, it's weird, a bit like Nadal, he can score points in all positions, but people tend to think he's only good in forehand), and full of extra-motivation (the Gattuso part).

hmm.......... Interesting

Well my comparisons are some thing like this:

Federer => Maldini (or Nesta) + Ronaldo (the real one)
Nadal => Zanetti + Lampard + Batistuta
Djokovic => Henry
Murray => Beckham
Del Potro => Berbetov
Roddick => Robben

Nadal will easily end the season as #1 because he has a lot of points to earn when Federer can only lose some ...
