You can check your knowledge about Milan here.
I will ask a question ( actually, since i'm the one who's opening the thread, i'll ask 3 questions :) ) and the one who'll give the correct answer to at least one of my questions will have the right to ask a question related to Milan. The one who'll answer his/her question will have the right to ask his own question and so on and so on

1. In Champions League, the competition that started in 1992, Milan played against 37 different teams and only 8 of these teams have a better head-to-head record than Milan. Name at least 3 of these 8 teams.

2. From the WC 1982 Italian winning squad, 2 of these champions were Milan players at the time of the WC. Who are they ?

3, Who is the guy on the picture ?

the guy on the picture is Alberigo Evani and teams that I think have a beter head to head record are Marseille, Celta, and PSV

Evani is correct and PSV isn't on the list.

You played PSV in 1992/93 and won both times 2:1 and 2:0, in 2004/05 you won 2:0 and lost 3:1 while in 2005/06 it was 0:0 and 0:1. Overall Milan is better with 3 wins-1 draw-2 defeats

Marselle and Celta are correct answers

Your question, please

I don't have a question. I'm not smart enough to think of one. I'm sure you have some more lined up.

In terms of other CL teams, i think Gothenburg, Deportivo or Barcelona might have better records against us. I know we don't have a great record in either France or Spain.

Ahhh, come on, don't spoil the party. It takes a minute to think of a question even if the question is " Name at least one Ukrainian player who played for Milan" :)

Hertha is correct , Zlat !

Gothenburg, Deportivo and Barcelona are all wrong Jim :devf:

P.S : Hertha, Marselle, Celta, Galatasaray, Leeds, Real Madrid, Lille and Ajax have better h2h than Milan ( Real and Ajax are better only on goal difference)

Tony29.
26-07-2007, 14:02
As for Milan's record in France and Spain...

Every single team in Europe has worse head-to-head against at least one country (teams from one country)
Only Milan has better h2h against every single country in Europe (considering Champions League only)
That's simply unbelievable, but it's true.
Milan is deservedly the best European team in Champions League's history.

1950? We're not that old!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Baggio, Inzaghi, Abbiati (does he count, was a loan after all), Vierchowod, Davids, Paulo Rossi?, Vieri

Ones i'm not sure about, Orlandini, Zenoni (not sure if he got 1 game before he became part of the Inzaghi deal).

how many players have played both for Milan and Juventus since 1950?

At this moment I can only remember these names till 80.s

Altafini
Benetti
Capello
Paolo Rossi

Tony29.
26-07-2007, 14:17
Maybe even Pessotto because he's coming from Milan youth and also Capello and Trapattoni played for Milan and Juve

Lets see, i'll go through the 50's and 60's now

List all of the players (youth, 1st team, reserves, loans) who have ever played for Milan since the club was founded.

The 8th team is Real Madrid. Has better goal difference than Milan ( 0:1, 3:1)

Another player who played for both Milan and Juve is Paolo Di Canio

26-07-2007, 14:39
Milan's record vs Ajax is 3wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats, I think.
the 3 defeats came all in 1994/95
in the CL winning season of 2002/03, Milan beat Ajax 3-2 at the SS and drew 0-0 away.
The following year, or a year later, we beat them twice in the groups - both times with 1-0 results.

Are you sure about this ?

In 1994/95 Milan lost all 3 matches from Ajax ( 0:2 -0:2 in the group and 0:1 in the final) , in 2002/03 you played in the 1/4's where Milan drew in Amsterdam 0:0 and won in Milano 3:2. The next season, 2003/04 you got Ajax in the group again and won both matches 1:0- 1:0
It makes 3 wins for Milan-1 draw- 3 wins for Ajax , with goal difference 7:5 in Ajax favour

P.S : Zlat, i give up :notlist:

Tony29.

Zlat , did you mean all players who played/will play for both Milan and Juve from 1950-2010 ?

In that case we can add Kaka, Gilardino, Pirlo, Boumsong, Legrottagllie, Blasi and Gattuso :D

I have no right to ask a question Jim :(

But if you insist.... :zany:

How many World champions did Milan "give" after the 1982 world cup ?

86 - 1 - Paulo Rossi

90 - 4 - Baresi, Ancelotti, Donadoni, Maldini

94 - 7 - Baresi, Maldini, Tassotti, Donadoni, Massaro, Albertini, Costacurta

98 - 3 - Maldini, Costacurta, Albertini

02 - 4 - Maldini, Inzaghi, Gattuso, Abbiati

06 - 5 - Nesta, Gattuso, Gilardino, Pirlo, Inzaghi

I'm not quite sure if you're asking for the world cup winners, which is 5 or the total number of players from milan in all the world cups after 82, which is 24

The answer should look like this ( if this was the question : )
How many Juve players became WChamps while they played for Juve ?

1990 - /
1994- /
1998 - Zidane, Deschamps ( but i don't count Vieira, Henry, Thuram and Trezeguet because in 1998 they didn't play for Juve)
2002 - /
2006 - Del Piero, Camoranesi, Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Buffon ( but i don't count Inzaghi,Perrotta and Peruzzi because they played for Juve in the past, not during the WC)

Correct :5ok:

After the 1982 WC , 8 players won the WC while playing for Milan or being Milan players (like it was the case with Dida). The 5 Italians in 2006, Desailly in 1998 and the 2 Brasilians in 2002 .

* Actually, Desailly moved to Chelsea just before the WC in 1998 started but it would be unfair to count him as a Chelsea player so we'll count him as a Milan player :devf:

Tony29.

@ Stitch , of course you can use it.
Here .... more details :

Milan , since CL started in 1992 played against 37 different teams from 17 different countries. Here are the head-to-head results with the countries

1.Milan vs England
4wins-4draws-2defeats (14:10)

2. Milan vs Spain
7 wins - 4 draws - 6 defeats (25:19)

3. Milan vs Germany
7 wins - 5 draws - 2 defeats (23:15)

4. Milan vs France
4 wins - 4 draws - 3 defeats (11:9)

5. Milan vs Italy
2 wins - 3 draws - 0 defeats (6:1)

6. Milan vs Holland

Anyway, my question is in which year was Milan deducted points in the Champions League? And the subsequent questions would be the reason and if Milan still qualified for the later stages despite this point deduction?

Milan had 2 points deducted in season 1994/95

1. AJAX 10 points
2. AC MILAN 7 points (but with 2 deducted points you had 5 points but better h2h with Salzburg)
3. Salzburg 5 points
4. AEK 2 points

So, even with 2 deducted points Milan passed the group.

The reason for deducting 2 points was crowd trouble against Salzburg

Next question quizmeister Tony! :D
This is a tough one....

Shevchenko and Inzaghi are Milan's top scorers in Champions League. Who is the player who was the biggest nightmare to Milan goalkeepers in Champions League ? I'm asking the name of the player who scored more goals to Milan in CL than any other player. ( only Champions League, from 1992-2007 )

Help : He scored 4 goals to Milan . 2 goals when he played for a Portuguese team and 2 goals while playing for a Turkish team.

Only one player scored a hat-trick against Milan in a Champions League match.
Who is the player and how did that match finish ?

And another queston , especially for you Jim because you're very good with the World Cup questions :)

1. Italy participated on 16 world cups. In 15 of these 16 world cups there was at least one player coming from Milan but on one WC there wasn't a Milan player in the Italian squad.
I'm asking for the year of this WC !

And more questions so i'll be free for today :)

1. How many UK players played for Milan ?

2. Where is the connection between the village Varese and AC Milan ?

3. ( this question will need a lot of time spent searching for the answer)...... How many non-Italian AC Milan players played and won a Champions Cup/ Champions league final ?
(Basically , you need all the non-Italians who played the final match in 1963, 1969, 1989, 1990, 1994, 2003 and 2007

4. When did Milan win the Mitropa cup and who won the 2nd place that year ?

5. - Carlo Annovazzi
- Giovanni Moretti
- Giuseppe Antonini
- Giuseppe Santagostino

How many of these 4 players played for Milan ?

1938 is correct answer on the WC question. I'm impressed :5ok:

I checked again, and it looks like there were actually 6 UK players in Milan.
Herbert Kilpin, the co-founder also played for Milan from 1900-1907

Benitez (Peru) played for Milan in the 1963 final (Altafini is counted as Italian because he played for Italy then, eventhough he's a Brasilian)
Schnellinger (Germany) and Hamrin (Sweden) won it in 1969
Rijkaard, Gullit, Van Basten ( Netherlands) in 1989
Rijkaard, Gullit, Van Basten again in 1990
Savicevic (Yugoslavia), Boban (Croatia), Desailly (France) won it in 1994
Dida, Kaladze, Shevchenko, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Roque Junior and Serginho in 2003
Jankulovski, Dida, Kaka, Seedorf and Kaladze in 2007

Great answer !

Jimmy Greaves,

Wouldn't Herbert Kilpin, the co-founder, also count? He played for some time in the early 1900's.

Here's a game for you Jaimie...and for the others of course.

After you read the whole story you'll all know who am i talking about. But that's not the point of the game. You need to read one sentence and try to give the answer to the question. If you don't know the answer after the first sentence then read the second sentence. If you still don't know the answer read the 3rd sentence, and so on and so on.
Some of you will know the answer after reading the 2nd sentence, some of you after the third, 5th, 10th, 15th.... it's not important at all when will you know the answer. The idea is to have fun.

Lets go : :)

1. I'll be 45 in September

2. When i was born they gave me the surname Dill

3. My parents weren't European but i am

4. When i was a kid i used to play football with my mate Frank in the city playgrounds

5. When i was 16 i played football with the Meerboys

6. I love reggae, i really love reggae

7. I used to be so good in football that one rich Italian gave a fortune to get me in Italy.

8. I dedicated the greatest price a footballer can get to Nelson Mandela

9. Chelsea wasn't Chelski when i played there

10. Alan Shearer , i hate him !

11. I made my hairstylist famous and he made me even more famous

12. I'm Dutch if you didn't figure it out by now

13.Currently i'm an analyst on Sky Sports for UEFA Champions League games.

14. I married Johan Cruyff's niece

15. I am not Van Basten or Rijkaard but when people talk about these two my name always comes up together with theirs.

I've seen something about this man on Milan Channel few weeks ago. I forgot his name, :nervous: but this photo was taken after the game vs Independiente, when Milan won it's first Coppa Intercontinentale in 1969.
Milan won the first leg at "San Siro" with 3-0 and after that we survived in Argentina, loosing with 2-1. The savages (the Argentinians form Independiente) played very roughly ("dirty" is word not strong enough to describe their behavior... :d55:  ). Milan had atleast 4 badly injured players after that game and as I remember, 3 of the Independiente players were sent to jail after that game, cuz the Argentinian government thought they represented their country in a bad way or something like that... :ban: :w209:

OMG, i just watched the match (vs Estudiantes, not Independiente, Rayno)

Milan players weren't gentle either but the Argentinians were real killers. I can't believe someone let them play football. They deserved 10 years of jail in the worst possible conditions

Here's a video : http://video.aol.com/video-detail/id/3577339910

P.S : I have no idea who that player is :)

probably is Poletti, the keeper, who kicked Combin back

Poletti

Manera, Malbernat, Aguirre Suarez, Madero

Togneri, Conigliaro, Bilardo (54' Echecopar), Tavera

Romeo, Veron

the jersey numbers were 'normal' at that time

Coach: Zubeldia.

But the player in the picture is a Milan player while Poletti (what a retard he was !) was playing in Estudiantes.
It can't be Poletti
(we are talking about the player in the picture above. Vadim's picture :) )

I believe Fox Soccer Channel obtained rights for Serie A:

http://soccertv.com/italy.cfm

I don't know if I'll be able to handle the crappy FSC commentary, so I'm thinking of ordering RAI. Nothing beats Italian commentary.

Why don't u make for each country to have his own GTM +/- Times ?
