Back in those days they all had numbers from 1-11 so i doubt it was #34.
Also, they used to change the numbers on the jerseys during the year, depending on who was playing and who wasn't ( for example If Cesare Maldini had # 5 and he was injured, the one who replaced him on the next match also had #5).
Central Defenders almost always had the numbers 4,5 or 6.
In the first Champions Cup final Milan won, Cesare was #5 if i'm not wrong.

At WC '62 his number was also 5 therefore I conclude it was his favourite one.
