View Full Version : Football's Rules
I don't know if there is already such this read. I open this thread so everybody can share/ask about rules that exist in football like the rules of the game, transfer, contract, etc.
It's me to ask first:
How is the FIFA rules about a U-18 player? Which players belongs to that rules? I remember that we have signed a 17-year old striker from outside Italy. How did we manage to do such transfer? He is not yet 18 years old. Someone kind to explain it to me? I am just confused now because of Pato's transfer.

Paro is still under 18 and Brazilian law states he will not be allowed to leave for Europe until he's 18. Since Milan can not add players in the official list after August 31st, when Pato will still be 17, then they'll must make it official in January.
I think this Brasilian law is part of the so-called Pele law where Pele tried to reform the Brasilian football.
The problem is with the country. In Brasil they have so much talent leaving the country and they try to protect their league and their football by keeping the players in Brasil at least until they are 18. ( in the past communist countries had the same rule just that they didn't let their players leave until they were 28)
I don't know the other countries who have the same rule and i don't know if there even is another country with a similar rule, but most of the federations don't stop their young footballers from leaving the country if they are under 18.
That's why Milan was able to buy a 17 yo player from another country
Aha, it's only because of the laws in Brasil. I thought it's about Fifa rules cause someone mentioned it in this forum. Thanks, Tony29!
It is a FIFA rule, Carlos Vela wasn't allowed to go to Arsenal from Mexico and they had to find some sort of loophole to loan him to Spain

Wow, great source. The rules is more clear to me now. That's really fair what Fifa do with the teenagers, IMO.
Thanks, rezag!
Another question about transfer in Premier League.
1. A player who comes from a certain country, must gain a work-permit before an english club want to sign him. Which countries are they? I just know generally but not exactly.
2. It seems, the rules state that that player should have something about appearences with his national team. A young player from Brasil, for example, who never makes senior appearence in NT, could signed by an english club. How could it be? Take Denilson of Arsenal for example. I looked at arsenal hompage; he was signed in June 2006 (He is born in 1998). I think he never play for NT or maybe just few matches.
There are regulations about how many percentages of NT games you must have appeared in during the past 2 years but like you mentioned there must be a way that exceptions are granted. But as far the regulations themselves go
