Thanks Karim... this thread is a great idea... I had read about it, but not seen pictures... it's amazing...
the architech in charge said they were inspired by A. Gaudi's work, and now I see it...
it's breathtaking
It's a great idea and it'll look fantastic, but what's the point? Unless the coloured swatches on the roof light up and animate as well (which i don't think they do), you won't be able to see the light show & animations because you'll be inside the stadium watching the match.
What would be pretty good would be if the different coloured lights shone onto the crowd so that parts of the fans were in purple, orange, white and the other colours they'll be showing. Kind of like a stained glass window effect which would work well with the Barcelona cathedral and the temple of the Sagrada FamÃ*lia.
I think the exterior lights will be something more advanced but similar to Bayern's Allianz Arena

I think it's ugly.
From a distance it looks like a giant anaconda.
The club that prides itself on a core, commercial-free identity is increasingly becoming Real Madrid.

I love the panels, if Milan had red and black panels at the bottom, then white ones at the top that would look soo cool!
Plus everyone would know its ours!
I was trying to find the old post about the new stadium, looking at arsenals success *well there huge increase in income. Surely if would financially benefical for Milan to start building asap?

That would look great, but I have this feeling that we're trying to hard to copy that German stadium.
I think Arsenal was a different scenario, as Dein wanted Arsenal to play in Wembley and not have a stadium just for the team. However it has worked in their favour and they are making quiet a bit of money which was required as they are in debt, Milan aint in debt as they have big financial power, plus I think circumstances are different between England and Italy. In England they generate more money and they have more match attendances for example how many times do we see the San Siro a third empty in home matches compared to OT or Emirates where they are always full.
Big stadiums in Italy isn't proftable in my mind, because just as Bandit said, in Italy stadiums aren't always full, but the thing that would try and resolve that is turning the stadium into a 24-hour convenient store with stores and restaraunts and such sto generate enough money that would cover the money lost in vacant seats, but that isn't the problem in England

The biggest issue is stadium ownership in Italy. Clubs don't own their stadiums; the city councils do. Hence, clubs are unable to generate as much revenue as they can.
What about the Bari stadium? I heard it was owned by the club

Milan could change the system if they could use the stadium to generate other income. More people would go to italian games if the stadiums were inclosed, and people could get some food and stuff there. Look at the stadio olimpico, the fans are soo fair away from the pitch its not worth them trying *well with the amount of tv coverage these days.
If the new stadium could be used for music events like how wembley is then i definately think it would be worth it. If italy are considering trying to host any big football events then they definately have to look at modernizing their stadiums.
Doesn't answer my question though :D
Anyways, the revenues and repairs and such of San Siro are half and half between Inter and Milan right?

I think the stadium is owned by a company called San Siro, thats why is called that way.....Milan and Inter get the ticket revenues from their games but they pay for using the services, and I guess the repairments are paid by the owner being that a private company or the City.
In a way the are renting the stadium, Juve has smth similar I think they have contract fro x years, which allows them to play in Delle Alpi.
This is what I heard, however i`m not sure its true.
What I know is the stadium is actually called Guiseppe Meaza but in Milan games, the more prefered name of San Siro is used :)
Anyways, then it seems something similar to Ahly and Zamalek using the Cairo Stadium which is owned by a governmental company called Cairo Stadium insitution, Ahly and Zamalek pay for renting the stadium and get the ticket revenues and the company pays for any refurbishments and such.

Almost all stadiums in Italy are owned by the city council, and therefore clubs are unable to realize their full potential in terms of revenue.
Hence, the last time the stadiums were renovated was in 1990 because that was an effort on a federal level. More funds poured in to the individual cities, and you got things done.
That is why losing the Euro2012 bid was a big loss for Italy.
Melandri is currently trying to help clubs buy stadiums from the city council. Watch this space.
