Milan will not build another stadium with Inter, its more likely that we will build our own one and get income from it like how Arsenal is.

there is already a post about this somewhere or about.. but this is what was reported a couple of years ago

AC Milan considering move to new stadium

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said his club could leave their San Siro home and build a new a venue in the city.

"Our stadium is among the least worst in Italy, the pitch is magnificent, you have a good view from the stands, the majority of fans don't get wet if it rains and it is easy to get to.

"But the first level was built in 1926 and sharing with Inter Milan isn't easy. Inter's directors have different ideas to us and so maybe it is time to think of two new stadiums for the city of Milan," Galliani said in an interview with the daily Corriere della Sera.

Milan, formed in 1899, played at five different stadiums before moving to the San Siro in 1926 and was not joined by Inter until 1947.

Before moving in with its 'cousins' at the San Siro, Inter played at the Arena, in the center of the city, which is the oldest venue in the world to have staged first class football having been opened in 1807 a century before Inter was formed.

The three-tier San Siro, which currently can accommodate 80,000 fans, was radically redeveloped for the 1990 World Cup finals and was the venue for the opening game of that tournament.

Although the World Cup allowed huge investment in stadiums across Italy, Galliani, who is also president of the Italian Football League, said it was not spent wisely.

"The error of 'Italia 90' was developing existing stadiums or building new ones with athletic tracks. That was how we lost a historic opportunity," he said.

The Delle Alpi stadium in Turin was one of the new venues built for the World Cup but will be demolished next year to make way for a new venue for Juventus which will have a reduced capacity and no running track.

Italian clubs could have a second chance to get access to funds for stadium development with the country bidding to host the European Championships in 2012.

Attendances in Italy this season dropped by 20 percent and while some, such as Football Federation chief Franco Carraro, have blamed ticket prices and crowd violence, Galliani said the stadiums are also to blame.

"All the club presidents agree with my view that the fall is without doubt related to stadiums that are obsolete and not designed for football," he said.

"You can't see much of the game, you have a bad view and if it rains you get soaked, as happened to 5,000 Livorno fans at Florence on Sunday who will have caught colds after watching the match in the pouring rain. We can't go on like this," he said.

"The way forward is to build new stadiums because the majority of the current ones are neither savable or able to be restructured," added Galliani who highlighted German club Schalke 04's AufSchalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen as a model.

"The Germans told me that they sell an average of 30,000 litres of beer for each game. In our stadiums you can't even get a cup of water," he said.

"It's obvious that as long as the stadiums are like this people will prefer to watch the game on television rather than go to the match," he added.

I dont think this will happen and if it does it wont happen for quiet a while. The San Siro is a great stadium, but if anyone were to leave the San Siro, it would be Milan, because Moratti has firmly stated there is to much history to leave if Inter were to leave, it seems to be working out well with the teams, now that they are sharing, i think they should just leave it.

If Belusconi is not even willing to spend $$$ on player transfer, why would you think he wants to spend money for a stadium :)?

Word :D

For me you have to remember that AC Milan have history too in this stadium. If Milan were to build a stadium which has been considered for over 5 years I would be left with two feelings; a bit of nostalgic feelings about San Siro, a memory flash back of all the finest moments I have myself enjoyed both on TV and my visit there myself. But of course AC Milan would still be AC Milan at a new stadium.

Forme, i would feel both upset hat we were leaving a stadium with with so much history, but i would also be excited, to go to a new stadium with new technology, and it would just be great. It would be hard for Milan to build a new stadium right now, because they want to and need to make all these transfers for players that dont exactly have the cheapest price tag, so it would be hard to afford to do all these things in the near future. Eventually the Sansiro wether it be in 10-20 or even 30 years from now will be completely run down, and not able to be played in, believe me im there every week, and i see how it is in there very old. Everything down on the pitch is great, and new, but the stands, and the hallways are old, and some peple are very ignorant, and litter, and break things, and throw things.

I agree with you.San siro has much history. It's too hard to leave for Milan and Inter.

and I also heard San siro is belong to city government office.Milan and Inter want to buy.they doen't need to make a payment to government. It will increase their income.

i wouldnt exactly say that, the reason milan hasnt spent that much on transfers could be because of the stadium thing. Milan arent exactly tight for cash, just our management is very causious not to waste money.

But like what was said, if a sponcer came in like at Emirates or AufSchalke Arena the cost of constructing a stadium reduces massively. Plus Belusconi owns enough land at Segrate to have a stadium built there. The way forward is to get our own place, the Milan council is holding Milan and Inter to ransome over the rent prices. If Milan had its own stadium we could rake loads in by having cinemas, restaurants and things. This way we are more self suffient.

You bring up a good point when you say sponser. If either Inter or Milan want to build a new stadium and move away from a san siro, they will probabaly most likely sign with another big name sponser for a year, to come up with some of the money. We also have to remember what Chock said a few posts back that the San Siro belongs to the Milan city government, so it doesent exactly belong to Milan or INter specificly, they just pay rent or something along the lines of that to use it.

Reading this post has made it very clear in my heart that I do never want to leave San Siro. :proud:

All I can say is thank you. :5ok:
