Ok, well I was just accepted to a university in Rome, Italy. I pretty much had decided I would be going there if i got accepted not matter what, which I am. It's like a dream come true for me, I really wanted this. Now I have a dilemma, since I'll be in Rome, could I semi support Roma so I can take part in the atmosphere at the games, in the bars and out on the streets? I do plan to see Milan games, most notably Milan derby, but it'll be hard to see a ton because of expense. I know we don't really like Roma, do you think what I am preposing to do is "acceptable"?

i didnt think we liked the Laziale on political views and i think we dislike the Romanisti as well as there the capital club, i think mate if you join the romanisti you will be classed as a traitor if somebody finds out :)

Yes. It doesn't matter. I could tell from your post alone that you love Milan.

Roma is a nice club. And I think everyone should stop being scared of having some crushes on different clubs.

You only live once.

When I went to Italy for the first time I was very cautious not to say anything to make the Italians mad.

Then after a while I figured out I needed to test them.

So I went into a Juve store and said Forza Inter.

To my surprise he wasn't mad. He just played along and said Forza Juve. Inter e solo Ronaldo.

And yes, to answer your question. Yes, I would like to sit with a table with an Inter fan. :)

I don't think supporting Milan and liking Inter is the same as supporting Milan and liking Roma.....And like I said the ONLY reason I will LIKE Roma is because I am an American and would like to experience the Italian culture fully by liking the local team which will allow me to take part in going to games, and discussing things about the team when I see the fans out in Rome. Milan will always be my only most favorite team, like I said before I will try to get up for some games and of course the Milan derby's. I feel because of my reason that I am much more than a person that says oh I support both Milan and Roma. What do you think Kaka1899?

Its not that supporting roma is a bad thing but

If the Milan and Roman Ultras hate each others guts

when or if they find out you like Milan they will make your life difficult at that moment, remember these are the ultras that ran on the pitch and told totti if he didnt stop the game they would fined his family.

i guess if its only to get a taster of the culture go for it mate :5ok: theres no harm in that, if its for sporting pleasure id say id avoid it :)

thanks for the info, and I agree, and I want to start no trouble and will not underestimate the seriousness of soccer in italy and fan behavior/ultra behavior

My rule of thumb is while in Rome, I am displayed as a Person that only likes Rome because I am a lover of the game / serie a and thats the team.
While anywhere else especially in Milan, I am a Milan supporter and will wear my jersey proudly, and I would never be in Milan without a ticket to the weekend game.

Like you said I only will be watching Roma play because its the local team where I will be, and its to get the experience and atmosphere....I have no connection to Roma at all besides the fact I watch a couple of games as I do all serie A teams.

i would think it would be similar to here in the states...i travel for work and go see football and hockey games wherever im at...
when i go to a flyers game, i dont where my pens gear...if im at a browns game, i dont wear my steeler stuff...unless im with a group.

i dont necessarily hate roma either, their ultra's give italian football a bad name, but the team/players aren't involved it that. i think a lot of us will be pulling for them to win CL this year?

Dont get me wrong im not trying to spoil your fun i just dont want a fellow Milanista getting hurt because of some bonehead Roma ultra as, as you said Calcio is more important than life it may seem to some tifosi :5ok:
