Hey Guys what do you think of BERLUSCONI's latest declarations (http://italiansoccerseriea.com/2008/03/10/ronaldhino-not-coming-to-milan-because-he-is-not-compatible-with-kaka-and-pato-says-milan-president-silvio-berlusconi.aspx) about Ronaldhino not fit for Milan???

I only wish MILAN makes a good signing for the next season. Not much on BIG NAMES but with FIT players and younger ones of course.

icculus

confused...they quote him as saying "I think Milan needs younger players who are 100% fit, not only signing BIG NAMES."

sheva is far from a younger player...

spoken like a true politician.

Thank you for the quotes from Silvio.

I was happy to see that Berlusconi has diagnosed the problem correctly. We need a new defensive face and a new striker.

The Ronaldinho rumor always was and is now proven to be nothing but a smoke screen. It was used as an excuse to not spend money and it achieved its mission. Hopefully, the end of this drama means we can finally start to do some real things to help the team instead of making up phony rumors.

Wow, what a u-turn. You guys remember not too long ago, both Galliani and Berlu were repeatedly saying that we were in "pole postiion" to sign R10. Berlu even went as far as saying that Laporta would not sell him because he would be driven out of Barca.

What seems to be the problem now? I agree with them that we don't need R10. Does that mean the last 2 summers have been wasted chasing a player we never needed? We need some direction in the transfer market, not Berlu's mood swings.

The problem with Milan is that they do not invest in their youth, or buy future stars with potential. It's either the established players or veterans. Fair enough having a few veterans and established players to boost the mentality of the team but too many seems like a joke!

Ancelotti said:
- 4 strikers + Paloschi next year
- Sammarco "back" in the team

So perhaps 2 players from the primavera in the team next year ... what a change !! lol
And if Borriello is back too, that will be 3 !!

That would be a kind of revolution compared to the last years lol.

And the words of Galiani?
"Galliani: Dinho and Sheva are ours"
“Ronaldinho and Shevchenko are 180 per cent Milan players,” he revealed to journalists last night.

How about that? What is going on?Is Galiani or Berlu lieing with us?

How about that? Dinho’s agent and brother Roberto De Assis:“We only want to talk to Milan,” Dinho’s agent and brother Roberto De Assis confirmed. “He will either go there or stay at Barcelona.”

Are these also a part of the lie?

HUNTELAAR or GOMEZ or BERBATOV. Milan just need to sign one of them. Two? Would be great.
Not all of them. Of course.

If it's one thing you should know is take anything that Berlu and uncle fester say to the press with a grain of salt. They are masters of saying one thing and doing another, especially when it's about transfers.

The deal seems to be done.

"Accordo tra club e giocatore. In linea di principio e il Milan sono d'accordo. C'è un intesa di massima con il giocatore. Ora va raggiunta quella con il Barcellona. Tempo al tempo".

- Roberto de Assis (Ronaldinho's brother and agent).

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport he will get a four year long contract with a salary of 8 million euro pro anno.

I thought we needed a separate thread who seems to be, though controversially, making his way to San Siro.
Is he going to prove the doubters wrong and go back in time to rediscover the 2-time FIFA World Footballer of the Year, or is he yet another signing by Milan who is already past his prime?
Is he going to adapt to life in Milan and deliver the goods, or is he going to cause problems within the dressing room?
There are many question marks surrounding this potential move...SO what do you, fellow Milanisti, think??

That's a big fear for many people, including myself. However, with a little work, I'm sure we can get the two working well together (Ronaldinho would naturally replace Seedorf, who has a very good understanding with Kaka).

I believe that also. But I've I said in the past the only Ronaldinho's signing is really effective is if we get an in the box, tall, strong, striker. Berbatov or Huntelaar.

There will be a lot of chances created and lose balls floating around in the box. An in the box striker will slot these in the back of the net. If Pippo was 5 years younger he'd be a kid in a candy shop with all the opportunities that will come his way.

I think with the siging of Ronnie and the comeback of SHeva and Borriello.

Milan strike force is complete, as they will have Pato(Speed), Sheva(Space), Borriello(Box) and Pippo(Poach) with support from Kaka and Ronnie. And maybe with a little luck, Gila will give us POWER.

If there is a striker to sign, Milan really need a POWER STRIKER like DROGBA. BUT sadly, if the above is the Milan striking lineup, I doubt Drogba will come as he will have less play time.

zephyr
16-04-2008, 10:09
Pato and Gila would be good enough if we have a better middlefield, seems that seedorf, gattuso are not as good as they used to be.

And Do not forget players like Frey and Mexes, they are who we need most.

The key is really not at the attack, I feel. Pato - Gilardino - Inzaghi - Ronaldo -Kaka sounds amazing, but with R99 always injured and so does Inzaghi who seemed never be able to score in Serie A until Milan in deep trouble, We are left with Pato - Gila - Kaka, and Gila?

I think the key is really the midfield. We are not creating enough for any of our strikers. In terms of defense, our midfield is doing a poor job, and the burden has to go on Gattuso because Ambro has been doing his job lately. Our lack of pace is definitely a problem, and the fact that Gattuso & Ambro can't attack well is one primary reason why our attack is missing.

It becomes obvious that relying solely on Pirlo is not enough; we need Ambro and Gattuso who can also step up in attack. If they can't do it, then our full back has to share the responsibility but obviously we have failed to do so completely.

With Seedorf having a on-and-off cycle and Kaka mostly injured and tightly marked, it's quite fascinating to see Pato scoring well. I don't know what to say about Gilardino, because he hasn't been able to perform in any way we wish him to. And anyway there are seldom decent crosses for him. The most he can do is to attract defenders, freeing either Kaka or Pato.

With our current line up (4-3-1-2 ) or the Christmas tree the key role are the full backs. They have to go up and down countless times and deliver good crosses. They have to widen the opposite defence.

We need a fresh injection of talent and physical qualities. Zambrotta will provide great defending and tactical awareness (and he's still in top form too cause he's a great athlete ). I agree we need another fresh full back and whoever plays in the midfield will do well.

I don't think Gilardino will stay one more year, with Shevchenko, Ronaldinho and another striker coming.

Ronaldinho coming to Milan is a dream. He destroyed us two times, when we were at our peak. The first time in Barcelona with that great move and left finish on Nesta. And once again in San Siro with that assist for Giuly.

I've seen Ronaldinho playing live two times and he's so fast you wouldn't believe your eyes.

If Ronaldinho takes the place of Seedorf in the formation then we have added speed to the attack. So many times this season I have watched as our defenders have mad a stop and quickly get the ball up to Seedorf and he has open space. What does he do attack? or stop? He slows or stops. All season in today's game agaist Reggina he had at least 20 yards to the nearest defender with Inzaghi and Kaka in the center of the field attacking and he stoped.

Ronaldihno would have attacked with those numbers which does two things. One it makes scoring oppurtunities for us.
Two it puts pressure on the opposing team and forces their midfielders to work harder in getting back to a defensive position. Right now Seedorf slows it down and it allows opposing teams to take their time. Seedorf has some great moves I am just thinking that his hay day of playing everygame has passed.

Galiani should have shut his pie hole on everything until Barca was happy with what we were/are going to give them for Ronaldinho.

Instead he comes out and says he 180% our player last week and this week...

AC Milan, Ronaldinho deal falls through

Rome - Vice-president Adriano Galliani admitted on Monday that AC Milan's bid to lure Ronaldinho to Italy was far from a done deal.

Following Milan's 5-1 thrashing of Reggina on Sunday, Galliani claimed that Milan had failed to agree a fee for Ronaldinho with his Spanish club Barcelona.

The news comes just over a week since Galliani had boasted that were Ronaldinho to move from the Catalan giants, it would be to Milan, but he has now backtracked.

"I don't know if a deal will be done," said Galliani. "We have to operate within the framework of market conditions. If it happens, great, if not we'll change our objectives."

It is widely known that Milan's offer for Ronaldinho is a long way below Barca's valuation and there are other teams such as Chelsea and Inter Milan who are interested in the former double world player of the year and who can offer more money than Milan.

While Milan have close contacts with Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto de Assis, they seemingly are not on quite such good terms with the Spanish giants.

"I've never said that we are close to Barcelona. It's one thing to be close to Ronaldinho, quite another to be close to the club," added Galliani.

"There are other teams as well as Inter that are interested in Ronaldinho. I've been dipping into the market for many years and there's nothing strange here.

"If Barcelona accept our offer we'll do a deal, if not we won't."

Galliani also admitted that he was hoping for a slip-up from Fiorentina in the race for Champions League football next season.

La Viola have a four-point lead on Milan with four games to play.

"We believe in ourselves, the only way to qualify for the Champions League is to win all our matches, but a lot depends on Fiorentina," he said. - AFP

This is the problem...

Barca Want £35m For Ronaldinho

There are reports in Italy that Ronaldinho’s move to Milan has hit a snag after Barcelona demanded £35m for the playmaker.

Ronaldinho had seemed almost certain to join the Rossoneri, as Barcelona have agreed to sell the player at the end of the season.

Negotiations have been ongoing in the past couple of weeks, however the Corriere della Sera says that a problem over the transfer fee has come up.

Barcelona are demanding a whopping €35m for the 28-year-old, which is over £15m more than what Milan are prepared to pay.

Although it is still highly likely that an agreement will be found, this has complicated matters a little, and Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani earlier revealed that it would be a while until the deal was concluded.

Ronaldinho’s agent and brother Roberto de Assis is remaining calm about the situation.

"There's no concern. We're not in any rush," he stated.

Ronaldinho is currently sidelined with injury and is expected to be out for the rest of the season.

I don't think we should spend what Barca is asking, BUT don't come out and say he's 180% our player...get the deal done, and then gloat Galiani. :5horse:

Ronaldinho's arrival will cause problem for Kaka and I would prefare to see an out of form injured Kaka anytime to that player with a scary smile. He couldn't even made a partnership with Henry so how could some one expect him to play well with Kaka? I think Galliani is trying to use the media to gain an advantage in negotiations. Both him and De Assis have said there is time, and we know full well that De Assis has said Ronaldinho will only join us should he leave, as well as Bronzetti pretty much confirming this.

Should others look to try and hijack Ronaldinho, I can't imagine Barca will suddenly cancel our ongoing negotiations and sell because (1) they have a good relationship with us and so wouldn't damage that (2) they can use the other interest in an attempt to get us to raise our bid and (3) They also have time, so wouldn't mind starting a bidding war in an attempt to get a lot from his sale.

Our advantage is Ronaldinho himself, a player intent on playing for us, and his agent (De Assis) confirming we're the only club in the running. If they're both strongly contesting the transfer to us, then Barca will struggle to seriously look at bids from others (as R10 would simply reject the transfer).

The only other issue is Nike. Personally, I doubt they have enough influence in the matter to prevent the transfer. I also think that Ronaldinho can wear Nike products (such as the headband and boots), as well as Addidas shirt of Milan, as Addidas is a sponsor of the club, and so Ronaldinho wouldn't be infringing on his Nike deal. Nike may not like it, but they'd have to accept it if R10 decides this is the case (or they can pull out of the deal, in which case I'm sure Addidas may be interested).

Yes, it shouldn't be an issue (just a possibility) as I said in the rest of that paragraph.

Right now it looks like we're offering probably around 25-30 million euros for both R10 and Zambro (as Galliani said we offered more than 20 million). Barca are apparently asking for 50 million, so I suspect we'll be looking at a deal worth around 35 or at a stretch 40 million.

I disagree that the sponsorship issue isn't that big of a deal. Ronaldinho is nike's main footballing cash cow atm. Other than Messi in Barca, the vast majority of Adidas stars wear an Adidas Jersey. Ronaldo and Ronaldinho are big cash cows (no pun intended :D ) for Nike. Adidas and nike are going at it toe-to-toe now and I doubt Nike would be pleased to see Ronaldinho wearing the insignia of their main Rivals EVERY WEEK.
The latest installment of Ronaldo's nike adds has him playing at Inter and Barca only. I was like "wtf? didn't he score some great goals for us too :wth: "

Think about it: David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Robben, Kaka, and Michael Ballack are all wearing Adidas for their clubs. Reebok is also owned by Adidas.

Patrick Viera, ADP and Robin Van Persie are other notable exceptions (adidas players that play in a nike kit)

With Adidas (more of a football powerhouse than nike but only marginally) making an offer to Brazil and nike rumored trying to go at the GERMAN nt  expect these wars to get dirtier and more underhanded. Also to what end? What if the sponsor tries to unsettle the player to leave?

I have observed that somehow or the other, high profile athletes sponsored by one brand who wear the jersey sponsored of another brand (meaning mainly nike vs adidas) there always seems to be some degree of uncertainty.

My observations are very simplistic, I concede and could be easily countered with examples in the other direction I concede but what if there was actually a correlation? :dontkn:

I aslo strongly believe that José Mourinho's apparent transfer to Inter might his a serious sponsorship snag
