Do you follow any particular diet ? Do you hold a secret to burn calories ? Do you take some relaxing time in the stressing daily life? Do you practice sports or fitness ?

I'm at least 3 times per week at the gym and i love to take a few hours in the week for workout. After every training i adore to go to sauna/ turkish bath and relax a bit. It's fantastic to chill out. After that a freezing shower to tonify the body and chill its temperature. I think it's a fantastic combination to put pressures off your shoulders. I never feel tired after, i feel more energetic instead.

Food: i follow a normal mediterranean diet, with few fat and much carboidrates ( only at lunch, never at dinner) and fruit/vegetables. Many proteins at dinner and sometimes with integrators.

I'd like to experience thermae sometimes. For the moment i'm fine with the sauna..
We have many scandinavians and finnish around..what's the secret to have a perfect sauna ?

I hope this thread will interest you and gets as enjoyable as it can get.

well i dont work out at the gym, i play football 3 times a week after work/college well i play 3 a side a high pace game with no GK so keeps you all running but we use a smaller ball so it improves our game as well.

i enjoy cooking very much so, i enjoy a varied diet no macdonalds or fast food though maybe a pizza from my italian friends shop but not often.

to relax i usually come on here for a chat and a post or go on my PS3 and play a few matches on Euro 2008

I've never understood how english can have a full english breakfast at 8 am in the morning...sausages, beans, bacon, butter, bread....

In Italy we prefer sweet taste in the morning. I have milk, sliced bread with marmalade or honey.

why do you think 45% of the US are above average of weight ? :D

anyway, i do go to the gym 3 times a week, only to workout, no sauna and stuff..

to relax I either play delta force(Multiplayer), Fifa08(ye ye downloading euro2008 atm :D) or i just go play football("Soccer" :O) with friends or just kick the ball around and trying some tricks :)

Food... well i do not have any breakfast, and if i do it will be because on that day i woke up early for school..
i dont follow any diet, i eat alot (of meat) but amazingly, i'm not fat nor overwieght :|

Kaka1899 (what's your real name btw) : white bread, even though brown bread is healthier in general.

Ace: breakfast is the most important meal in the day, along with lunch. Brains works with sugar and in facts to keep a good concentration i usually have a second breakfast with fruit juice, or something sweet at around 10.30 am.
I'm not obsessed with health and diet. I usually pay attention to diet during the week, while in the weekend i relax and have the usual italian grandma meals without any problem. Being a student, i have to pay attention to diet and fitness to keep myself in shape.

As far as i know americans are overweight because they have food in fast foods too many times in a week. You can afford fast food once or twice in a month !! Did you see the movie- documentary "Supersize me " about the fast food culture? It was shocking. As far as i know many don't cook at home, and in general they don't have a culinary culture. I think recently in many countries this bad habit is changing, and luckily more people pay attention to their diet and to cook on their own fresh food (which is more convenient also).

Jamie Oliver UK chef led a programme in British schools where he invited and teached children and teenagers to have heathier food. It was a success and he made a tv serie out of it.

Here in Italy a guy from my region founded the Slow Food movement which has already spread all over the world. They promote all local healthy products and specialties, fresh organic vegetables and healthy cuisine in general.

My real name is Greg although my Italian amici call me Tranquillo as im naturaly a quiet and tranquil person :)

Btw Gio Jamie Oliver had a huge success with his campaign for healthy meals although i never ate them as i took lunch from home usually Mortadella or Salami and swiss cheese on crusty bread roll :lick:

as well Jamie Oliver went to Italy to discover your food and he went into a classroom of 5 and 6 year olds and held up a Courgette and asked "Che Cose?" they all replied Zucchini, he held up an aubergine and they all replied melanzana and for the finale he held up an Artichoke and they replied carciofo, then he went to a English school with 15/16 year olds and asked them and they didnt have a clue they guessed leeks, cucumber and beans

its truely shocking Gio now not all english kids are so iggnorant as im a very keen cook and know my fruit and veg but id say a good 60% wouldnt know ten different types of vegetables :v46: , just think if kids turn there noses up at carrots and peas what would they think if you told them you were serving celeriac :D

Hold on tight loves...

I'm a vegetarian, no meat, no eggs and no blood. Like Morrissey says: 'I love the animals so naturally I don't wanna eat them'.

I do drink milk, there is no killing there at all. All I expect is the cows to be milked with love and compassion.

I swim thrice a week. For the body and soul.

I followed Jamie in Italy serie, cause on sat tv we have an all food and cuisine channel. I've followed all his series. The best episode was in Eolie islands with that sicilian cook. Jamie was staring at his daughter; the cook took the biggest knife, cut a vegetable and told him : " if you touch my daughter i'll cut your **** " :haha:

How do you know so many words in italian, and spelled right ?

Don't worry. I will cook for you baby :hopefull:

Anyway, someone raised an interesting debate. Why people is getting more and more fat , especially in some countries ? What are the cultural values that take the human being to that degree ?

Possibly for the fact in the UK to buy meat, and some vegetables will cost you

Beef = £3.50 to £10.00 depending on the quality of meat
Vegetables
Potatoes = £3.00
Carrotts = £1.50
Peas (frozen) = £70

making it in total in the cheapest scenario nearly £10 thats €12.80 and then you have to take it home and prepare and cook it taking you about 1 hour or you can go and call at McDonalds and pick up burger, chips and cola for £5.00 or go home and call for Pizza or Chinease meals delivered for £7.00 its ready cooked and hot delivered straight to the doorstep no effort or fuss, i think the majority of it is lazyness Gio people cant be bothred to get up and cook they would rather have it deliverd ready made for them

Very strange. Cooking on your own is generally cheaper. Pasta is not expensive, even in Britain i guess (and with 1kilo of it you have 10 meals). Boiling water and cooking spaghetti is cheaper and quicker than waiting for a pizza. You can buy already made toppings, like pesto or others.

In general Britain is more expensive, but haveyou tried the local open air markets?

It is really hard for me to believe that food in England cost three times as much as in Sweden. 4 times as expensive potatoes? a homemade meal for me is very seldom more than 5€. If it is more then it comes down to a expensive meat. I even have some (conserved) ravioli at home that costed me 0.4€.

the thing that really is expensive is mostly fruit.

As a Latter Day Saint (Mormon), I have an intertwined personal/spiritual strict code to follow.
No consumption of alcohol and caffiene (cola, coffee, tea, etc). No smoking, tobacco and other stuff narcotic in nature. Go easy on the meat and have a balanced diet. Personally I have a disinclination for any kind of desserts especially after a meal. I very seldom will put a cookie, cake, pie, sweet roll, ice cream, candy, etc in my mouth. Its not that I dont like these things. I just dont care to have them. Trust me... they DO taste good!
We also have "Fast offerings" where the cost of my meals I will save and then give to charity. Those of us who are more fortunate will be more generous to give more than that money saved as a fast offering.
Now that I'm away from home, I lack the luxury of my gym room. So I do a lot of walking. I also actively have a slew of hobbies... hunting, fishing, gardening, polo, golf, football and so forth.
Besides my normal work, I use as much time I can to do things outside my personal benefit as I am doing now as a missionary. Keep in mind... my calling here in the church is voluntary, including no salary. I still must maintain my personal income means in addition to my ministerial duties.
So I guess what I am saying is that I watch what I eat, I exercise, I enjoy what I do for work and also help others in their work and enjoy that as well. Late LDS President Gordon B Hinckley said it best: "put behind us our weaknesses, and go forth with energy and increased resolution to improve the world about us, in our homes, in our places of employment, in our social activities."

i am a long distance runner. train through the year for the various marathons and half marathons i partake in through the year. During winter, i take a little break in running and focus on the weight training and core building. What they say about a runner's high is absolutely true. :)
