I still like Carlo coach Milan next season. If he has to go, I'd lilke to see Basten as our next coach. His tactic is quite good and balanced. IMO his tactic is like Carlo who wants to conquer the midifeld area first (with solide defence) and then try to make goal. This is the tactic that can make a club successful in Champions League IMO (my brain keeps thinking that CL is the 'only' goal for Milan :D)

Plus he is Berlusconi's lovely 'son' and maybe it'll be easier for him to 'cry' to his 'Papa' to be given money for the transfer he wants. :D

So my only hope is that ždonadoni will do HORRIBLE in Euro and Carlo will be offered Italian job and he'll take it. Of course then donadoni will take over in Milan which I also odnt like much... :(

Epic....

it'll be a tough fight in Euro08 this year, specially in Italy's group, would be a shame to see one of the best teams(Holland,France, Italy) get eliminated from group stages tho...

unless if its France, that would be a good reason to celebrate :D

and yeah, i wouldnt like Donadoni either... he's so much of an.... hmmm... idiot.

Ancelotti should remain with us

But if they will change I think the first option should be Spaleti
then Donadoni

Mourinho it’s better if he gains more experience elsewhere

Rumours are suggesting Ancelotti has met Abramovic about the Chelsea post. Carlo denies it, saying he's just on holiday.

Hope there is nothing more to this. It has been too damn long that Ancelotti hasnt had a strong squad to call on. If we can give him subs like Rui Costa, Serghinio, Tomasson etc again then we will see how good he really is.

It should definitely NOT be Ancelotti! During the 2006/2007 season we only played the 'tree' in CL cause lack of options. I don't know if you guys remember but we played with 2 strikers in Serie A. Only since winning the CL our master tactician has had the idea that the tree would work against any opponent, even in Serie A, even againt Reggina at home, against teams that come to defend, against anyone. We won CL with it, so it is holy. I have been scratching my eyeballs all season long, seeing it didn't work. And everytime I thought he would finally get it, he just kept on defending against defensive teams. What a brilliant tactic! How come this manager was called a brilliant coach only a year ago. After the games against Bayern and Manchester Ancelotti was the big king with his tree. What happened? Can anybody explain to me how playing the same tactic over and over again not looking at the opponent is brilliant? Isn't this fact alone enough to prove that he is far from brilliant? If you play away against Juve the same tactic as home against Siena? What does this say?

During the first half of the season he had his excuses with Ronaldo and Inzaghi injured, but during the second half especially the last games when we are already out of Cl, there were no excuses. Why did he keep on playing with only one striker, Inzaghi, and left Pato on the bench? Even in the must-win games against Napoli and Udinese, he started with only one striker. In both games he had to admit he was wrong, bringing Pato from the beginning of the second half. He is not brilliant, he is a coward. He is done here. He brought us beautiful things, but everything must end. Maldini can't go on forever, nor can Ancelotti. I have a deep respect for him, build up through the years, but a part of it is gone. He has made too many wrong choices and it ended up us having the worst season in six years. He should acknowlege and resign.

To keep it a dicussion, is there really anybody on these boards, that can defend Carlo's tactics this season?

Yeah, let's get rid of Ancelotti---he only won us 2 CL's, 1 Scudetto, 1 Coppa Italia, 2 European Super Cups, 1 World Club Cup. He has won more in his 6 years with us than any other coach. Yes, let's get rid of him....

yes....

lack of options!

Ronaldo injured, Kaka injured a fair amout of the time, Gatusso injured(once, in our darkest moments, and he still cant play full 90 mins!), Pato injured, Maldini injured, Jankulovski injured, Inzaghi Injured, Gila out of form and finally Ambrosini getting suspended every now and then....

and I can still make you one hell of a list why he used some of the tactics he used... so please just drop this discussion, its getting boring...

I totally agree with you.
our team lacked detph I don't like to use ifs coz it is irrelevant and you can never know for sure but if only Ronaldo didn't injured we would have gotten another scenario.

But Carlo may leave anyway

I think that the best man for Milan will be Luciano Spalletti.
Rome plays very good fottball and I think that in Milan, with the right budget (Milan have a lot bigger budget the Roma somtething like 150 mil diffrence) he can bring us titles!

The national team and Juventus were the two big love stories in my life as a coach,” Lippi told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“They are the only two Italian benches where I could go back to work.

“Milan are a club who have made the history of Italian football and Berlusconi and Galliani are great leaders. But I could not betray my two great loves.”

“With regards to Italian football, for the moment, the door is closed," he concluded.

Guess that rules out Lippi, and now Mourinho is at Inter. I know Ancelotti is staying next season, but what I am starting to worry about is who would come after Carlo? I guess its too soon to think about it now..

Lots more rumblings of Ancelotti to Chelsea-I'm actually starting to get worried and start considering new appointments. First though, why in the HELL would he go to Chelsea? Ok, with that off my chest...
Rijkaard or Donadoni seem to be the ones that come to the forefront, and I give the edge to Roberto because Rijkaard has seemed a bit bombed out and likely to take a year out. Since the top two of our poll have been ruled out, and Donadoni has zero votes, I'll take him. Why not a new man to start a new cycle. I like that he has a connection to the club, but not necessarily with the players (when he was a player) as most of them are gone.
If not this summer, I think Donadoni is a candidate for the future, so I'm really eager to watch his tactics this summer.

Of course, vivardo, but the fact remains at some point Carletto will go, so it's not a bad thing to begin looking at the future.
I am counting down the days until euro 2008, so I can stop wasting time on all the gossip sites!

I want Carletto to become Fergie of Milan, with more CLs :)

jtelly
03-06-2008, 13:58
It would be great, this is his chance to really re-build the team, re-shape it. Fergie has done it many times, unfortunately most coaches never get the chance, but i think Carletto can do it. Plus, there are conflicting reports about transfers and who is really in control there, but I'd prefer him to stay for the new term. However, I do think that there is a cloud over his head, something like "If Milan are not in challenging position for scudetto at midpoint, you are gone". Just for a little extra motivation!

Galliani has already compared Carlo with Fergie and he also stated that Carlo could like Fergie in Milan.

What I hate from Carlo is that it's so difficult for him to trust young players except worl class young players like Kaka and Pato (even Pato got less chance at the end of this season). But I agree with Galliani, he still has much time with Milan to win more trophies.

Carlo is the suitable coach for current Milan boards (Galliani co.) as Galliani co. can think objectively now regarding Ancelotti's achievements with Milan. Milan boards now seem more patient, not like other big clubs like Madrid (who fired Capello even he won the La Liga), Chelsea, Juve (who fired their ex-player coach) and of course Inter (the worst management I've ever seen who fired the coach who gave two scudetto) etc.

Carlo is also a coach that doesnt think much about things which are not his responsibility (like transfers budget, criticising the management, etc.), he is only concerned about his job, coaching Milan. Plus he is Champions League typical coach that makes him more suitable for Milan.

Siregar: I think there is nothing wrong if you just trust players who are world class. Milan is not Arsenal in that Milan is not meant to develop young players. Of course development is still a key but Milan wants to develop young players who become a world champion.

We thought Gourcuff is one but obviously he might not be. And of course we also make the mistake of not seeing someone as world class. But all teams did that.

Siregar
03-06-2008, 14:39
Yes Jeff, it's nothing wrong with that. What I want to emphasize is that Carlo is not like other coaches like Fergie, Rijkaard, etc regarding the trust to young players.

I understand Gourcuff case but generally it's difficult for Carlo to trust young players. Like in Coppa, I still dont understand why key players like Gattuso, Pirlo etc were still brought to the coppa Italia, it should be more for primavera players (with some Milan first team subs) because we all know that Coppa means almost nothing for Milan.

I doubt subs players from Milan first-team who has already got some games in Serie A/Champions League (except young players like Gourcuff, Pato etc.) still have great spirit and enthusiasm to play in Coppa.

The point is that coaches like Fergie, Rijkaard etc give more chances to young players than Carlo.

Pirlo and Gattuso played in Coppa Italia because they were both(or atleast Pirlo) were suspended for the next match...

and if I remember correctly, Gattuso only played for 15 mins, breaking world records for getting the fastest 2 yellow cards in a Coppa Italia match

:D
