Just downloaded the FIFA 09 demo for the PS3. There are 6 playable teams, one each from the bigger leagues. Glad to see that AC Milan is the Serie A representative. The other teams in the demo are Chelsea, Madrid, Schalke, Marseille, and FC Toronto. Anyway, here are the ratings for our players and the default lineup.

Starters:
Abbiatti 79
Zambrotta 83
Nesta 87
Kaladze 82
Janku 80
Flamini 82
Pirlo 87
Ambro 82
Kaka 89
Dinho 87
Borriello 80

Substitutes:
Kalac 75
Seedorf 84
Bonera 80
Gattuso 81
Pato 81
Maldini 77
Inzaghi 81

Reserves:
Dida 76
Emerson 77
Oddo 79
Brocchi 76
Antonini 73
Favalli 75
Paloschi 73
Simic 74
Digao 68
Cardaccio 58
Viudez 58
Darmian 60

Obviously the roster is outdated as we still show Oddo, Simic, Brocchi, Digao and Palo on our team. No Senderos or Sheva (Sheva is rated 80 on Chelsea's roster).

I'm not sure how I feel about the gameplay. It's a little spastic and "Arcade-ish". It doesn't have that realistic feel that Fifa 08 had. But still I can't wait to play the full version later this month.

there is a Demo for FIFA09.. on the ea site i guess

I, once again, am disappointed with EA's development team for FIFA...
Konami by far have the gameplay+Graphics(imo) advantage over EA, its only the license they lack...

and btw, PES09 demo should be out in couple of weeks i think..

ah and also, on the PC version, Sheva is with Milan, but Oddo and Brocchi are still there aswell:/

should be fixed by the release of the Full Version

Official trailer for Pes 2009: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/sports/pes2009/video/6197543/pro-evolution-soccer-2009-official-trailer-1?tag=;title;1

The new thing is that they have bought the rights for UEFA Champions League and rights for some clubs including Man.Utd. and Liverpool...

The game will be available 16/17 of October for those interested....

I agree with you Ace about the gameplay but must admit, i was surprised with the graphic detail in FIFA but, again, gameplay is everything...

Chelsea's players weren't ranked much higher if it makes you feel better. Milan overall are ranked 83 in Attack, 83 in Midfield and 82 in Defense. Meanwhile Chelsea is ranked 83 in Attack, 84 in Midfield and 83 in Defense.

Anyway given the adulterated expectations of many on this forum I can't say that I'm surprised. But there was a time when we DID have the best midfield and defense in Europe silly me for thinking we could be better than Chel$ki...I mean we did clean their gutter for them :v46:

i heard there's some secrets in the game. If you pause the game during a match and press square, triangle, triangle, start, R1, L1, L2, R2, circle, cross, cross, circle, triangle, square, square (PS3 version), when you unpause it your club gets bought out by a random billionaire.

I have the UEFA Champions League on 360, and it is only the CL series. I wish they would have it combined with the individual leagues (Premiere's League, Seria A, La Liga, etc.) combined with the Champions League series. That way I could play it like how it is set up in real life. I don't know, maybe it's just here in America that we don't get the good games.

I used to have the FIFA on my PS2, but I don't play PS2 anymore.

Why do you have to act like such a cranky fart? Being satisfied with being marginally below Chelsea is ok in a year where Chelsea made it to the CL final while Milan finished 5th in serie A. If you want a year where Milan has a great team, then go buy fifa 05.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. FIFA always overrated English teams/ players. The year we won the CL they gave Seedorf 79 and put Kaka's ratings below CR7. They gave Rooney a 91 :eekani: and our Ronaldo 84 :stupid: OBVIOUSLY now that two english teams made it to the CL they are going crazy with the ratings.

Oh and YOU could be satisfied with any crap that management throws at you forgive me while I keep some standards. :5ok:

having to edit players to get right speeds(sprint) and shot power/accuracy is not ok...

and if he remembers(maybe he checked it ? :D) doesnt mean his a nerd like you implied...

Personally i think PES is way too arcade-ish and very cartoony, I think fifa 08 wiped the floor with PES last year and by the looks of things it will do it again this year. About the game play I've noticed that EA like to faff around with this, I've played the demo of FIFA 09 and i find it to be more fluid and responsive quite enjoyed it.

as a hard-core FIFA fan, i'm pretty disappointed from EA's efforts to take this game to the so called next-gen..

FIFA07 and FIFA08 are pretty much the same and were somewhat good, but considering gameplay, PES totally whooped the floor with FIFA last year(pes08) and i am actually getting sick from EA's refs, they are only 3d models running, no wait, they're not even running they're only 3D models interfering with the gameplay and making it ugly, while PES have put life into those refs and linesmen.

FIFA09 was the biggest blow in the FIFA series so far, and i can tell you, EA are going to suffer bad from their lack of new ideas, and especially that PES09 has the license it lacked(they lost some but hey, they're trying) and they also got the CL in it, hence instead of releasing two games and make epic money from it, Konami decided they will release "2 games" in one and make the game more enjoyable.

bottom line is : EA is losing it, they should just shut down their company or start coming with new ideas otherwise, Konami and such companies will take over and EA will eventually bankrupt!

I've played both FIFA09 and PES2009 and must say I think FIFA's got the better game this time around. I was really disappointed at PES, which seems to have improved graphics, but gameplay hasn't changed much. This has resulted in the gameplay feeling awkward and disjointed as it doesn't seem to match the graphical changes. It's not a major difference to the past, but feels clunky in comparison.

FIFA on the other hand seems to have made strides. Gameplay is much more fluid and responsive and whilst the control scheme takes getting used to (like the power bar for passing), it becomes quite nifty when picking out players and passes. The AI is the biggest improvement now, as tactically the game feels much more realistic (even more than PES) and the runs players make are more clever. I played with Borriello and he was excellent as a target man, who I regularly used to hold up the ball for Kaka and Dinho. Kaka was more direct than Dinho and made runs through, whilst Dinho drifted wide more and came deeper. I thought the game was actually a superb representation of the real game.

I've preferred PES for a decade over FIFA, but this time around, in my mind the tables have definitely turned.

Besides, the Become A Legend mode simply beats every aspect of FIFA's Be A Pro :guw:

are you being sarcastic here?? :)

Fifa 09 is much much better then the latest 2 PES games. I've been a PES fan for years and Fifa totally sucked untill last years fifa 08. And PES has lost it, I dont know why but the older pes games are much better than the latest 2 versions. Pes never had the better graphics or as much teams in the game as fifa, but you played it for its fantastic gameplay! I miss those days, playing pes against friends, those were real fights. I hope pes comes back on the right track again, but for now Fifa is much better

EA(FIFA) promise but dont deliver, Konami(PES) promise but they do deliver...

you probably played pes more than i did and you also probably noticed that its gameplay is worse than fifa's, but again, i've been playing fifa for a long time now, and its gameplay is on a downfall since FIFA07...

how come FIFA07 and FIFA08 are so similar to each other?
lack of ideas? lack of good developers? well god knows, but i can tell you than Konami is always getting the better fan base and will do so until the FIFA team put some brains into their heads!

NOTE: I am talking about the PC versions here, i have never played the console versions as i do not own one..

download the demos and find out yourself... :)

or, you can watch gameplay videos and/or read reviews on gaming websites like gamespot.com

personally, if i was going to buy a game(which,i dont) I would download the demo and then make up my mind :D

good luck deciding :P

I played PES on my friend's X-Box and I really loved it and I've given EA so much money in Fifa games...I think I'll try PES just for the sake of change. I particularly like the dribbling mechanism in PES...I'm not sure if Fifa is similar but you just used the left analogue stick to perform tricks n stuff while on the move...it was amazing :D.

You are right, Pato becomes great after 2-3 seasons...in the beginning he's just fast, his shots are terrible and can't dribble past defenders...but now....:p283:

Ronnie, well....he's soooooo slow but his crosses and free kicks are maybe the best in the game...

CR is totally overrated.... almost every grade over 95 :yuck:

After I played both this games:

1. PES's got better game play
2. FIFA's got better graphics
3. PES is getting better
4. FIFA is getting worse
5. I'll stick with PES
