Overall, the most complete and influential player in the world, when in form, is Kaka.

But right now that player is Messi.

considering the way both players played this season, I'd pick Messi over Kaka..

but that doesnt mean that Kaka isnt the best when injury-free and match-fit :D

What is funny is that you can make a dream team with these few players:

---------- Torres -----------
C.Ronaldo --- Kaka' --- Messi
---- Gerrard --- Whoever ----

:D

I vote for Messi, he does amazing things without being a monster physically, whereas the other 4 are able to use their physical skills (even C.Ronaldo who always falls) to make the difference.

Of course, my heart says Kaka' anyway ... but 2 years without playing two great games in a row is a lot.

I would have said Messi a couple of weeks ago, but now I would say Frank Lampard. Why? very simple, its not just the club where you should be the world beater all the time, you also have to deliver for your (good) NT when it really matters. Also for me Casillas and Maicon (although I hate this tractor) are also close to be the world's best player. Forwards and Midfielders are noth the only ones playing football.

Looking at it in a wider perspective I'd say the best player in past years is "our" Ricky :( Then its Gerrard.

Messi has been the best for a while now (I'm not going to say "FACT!", but I'm verging on it). My top 10 would include Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Villa, Kaká and Dani Alves (in random order). Then there's Cronaldo, Gerrard and Ibra, who, although I tend to think they're all somewhat overrated, should probably be there or thereabouts.

Andrés Iniesta.

Ceceves, I dont see how Villa is in the same level with Messi and Kaka'. That is my oppinion.

About Messi being the best for a while, I'd say that last year he was the best, year after that C.Ronaldo deserved golden ball as he was simply brilliant, year after that it was Kaka' who demolished half of Europe, and after that etc...

Villa has the disadvantage of playing in a team that's decidedly inferior to the Barca side of last season, the United side of 2007-08 and the Milan side of the 2006-07 CL campaign. However since the beginning of 2008 he has scored (I think) 43 league goals for a Valencia side that at times made this Milan look like a model of consistency. Add to that his form for Spain in that same period (constantly outshining Torres) and the fact that he's not a poacher, but a creator too. To me, there's not a striker better or even equal to him.

First of all, I don't think I will put Torres in that Poll, I would swap him with Ibra.
Then I would also add Gourcuff and Villa to that list.

For some reason, Villa had been flying under the radar for about 3 yrs now.
I am not saying people don't talk about him....but rather nobody seems to be hyping him the level he deserves. To me, Villa is the best finisher in the World at this moment.
