View Full Version : People trying to re-write history
I've just been having an argument with some guy on the Guardian Sports Blog about the AC Milan-Manchester United 1969 semi-final. He claims the result was bought without providing any evidence other than one team was Italian, the other was Manchester United, and the opinion of some biased former player whose opinion is probably worth as much as Pele's tip for a World Cup. Everyone knows that Italian teams have bribed referees but does that make every positive result a fix? It's just an excuse used by people who judge people in groups rather than as individuals. The big joke is that if every team bribed the referee there would probably be the same amount of bad decisions as there are now. I think cheating is wrong but where do we draw the line. Injustice is part of football. Sure you can root it out, but sometimes the bad guy wins just like in life, and sometimes the good guys win even if they need some luck.
Maybe he's getting Milan confused with inert of the same period. Anyway couldn't care less what some tosser from the Guardian Sports Blog thinks.

It was Inter...they were accused of bribery for both their European Cups.

Sorry, no...it was Milan....they beated Manchester 2:1 in the semi-finals,
and Ajax Amsterdam in the finale with 4:1....
But if a team can win the finale with 4:1, it doesn´t need to "buy" the semi.......
This is the only mention of Milan bribing to win at this time.
I've heard it for inert dozens of times, but not Milan. Anyway, a bunch iof thugs, 3 years after a dodgy wc, shouldn't talk about cheating.
I have heard of this incident before, but Milan would not be stupid enough to repeat such acts again in their furture. Anyway, knowing Manchester United fans, many of them are show-offs, and are only supporting the club due to their current success. As soon as they fail, they will deny following the club. Already, many of these POSERS have swapped to Barca. Atleast us Milan supporters, depsite the recent incidents, have remained loyal to our side. :3band:

Many of friends who happened to be ManUtd fans became Barca fans overnight. Now, majority of the rest have become Real Madrid fans. This was imminent after C.Ronaldo's transfer. I remain a kaka fan though.

Lol, so its not just me then? Still don't mind Kaka, and i felt more angry at Galliani when he was sold on.

ask to these idiots, when and why Fabio Cudicini became "the black spider"?
His most famous matches were :
Celtic Glasgow -Milan (quarter of final European Cup 1968) when in an unforgettable match Cudicini stopped the Europen Champions and qualified Milan after a poor 0-0 in San Siro. (my Pierino Prati scored, in Scotland in the second leg, after a fantastic run, a magnificient and devastading contropiede.)
and
Manchester United - Milan 1-0 Bobby Charlton, (European Cup semi-final also in 1968, while at San Siro 2 to nothing for us, Hamrin and Sormani) when he was really unbeatable against Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, George Best and Brian Kidd. In this match he received a bottle from the stands in his head, he falled down but after few minutes of medical care he continued play until end of match : he was a gentleman player.
ps.: happy Barca won
There is also a petition in the UK and a MEP involved wanting Leeds
utd to be awarded the 1973 cup winners cup as allegedly Milan fixed the match.

12,200 is a great amoutn?
Naturally, if 12,000 bitter Leeds Utd. fans say a game their team lost was fixed, they must be right. Right?
I've heard of sour grapes, but rarely ones lasting 35-40 years. It's kinda sad...
