15 mil euro is a good investment......welcome Aly. may your future be bright along as Milan's. it's a done deal according TMW

I wonder if Jankulovski really gonna be sold to Roma....we still need backup for the left back spot. Maybe Favalli gonna stay for another year...he proved to be an adequate backup. Dzeko and Miranda next ;)

Aly Cissokho (born September 15, 1987 in Blois) is a French-Senegalese footballer who currently plays for AC Milan, as a left defender.

Do you think he will be a first-choice at season's beginning, ahead of Janko and even Favalli? 15 million is a lot for a sub player, i can assure you that!

Maybe janku is being sold to roma that's why they bought him.
We are going to have to wait and see what pans out.

Lets not let him go to waste.

benvenuti a milan Aly Cissoko.

seeing as this is the first deal to get wrapped up, even before Dzeko, must mean that he was really wanted. All I hope for is an attacking fullback who can bomb forward like Cafu. I've heard mixed reviews about him, some say he over-rated some say he's worth it. I just find it pretty disturbing that we bought this guy for 15m euro, which is alot, especially for a team that's been struggling for cash. He's probably the most expensive defender we've gotten (bar Nesta).

All I know is that Lyon's president had an obsession, almost a fetish for this player! Also, Hotspur was interested among other European clubs, and that we were certainly lucky to get him amongst all the competition!:p283:

Aly is an incredible buy. I'm so happy. He's a better Serginho; just as fast, great crossing but a much much much stronger physicality. The guy is strong and can't be pushed around; and he's lightning quick. This is exactly the kind of player we needed. Leonardo is making all the right moves.

Dzeko next!

This is a little racist, but its about time we get some African blood in our team. Seedorf doesn't count. We were the only serious team without a tough, hardworking African in our side.

On the African inclusion, we are chasing McDonald of Parma.

Also, this latest buy is far from finalised, as the sources are most probably making up crap! Couldn't find it anywhere except Wiki.:rr30:

I agree that we need a few more imposing players, but not those with poor technique. I'd like to see Mariga & Strasser in the squad, and maybe Osuji.

Your also right about Seedorf not counting as he's from Surinam, which is South America.

Finally a report on Goal.com regarding the LB player. Also, as I predicted, it claims that Oddo is being used as bait in the Dzeko deal as well!

Report: Milan Sign Aly Cissokho From Porto
The Rossoneri have supposedly confirmed that, after some stern negotiations, the young defender is on his way to San Siro...
14 Jun 2009 07:44:01

According to ilsussidiario.net, Milan general manager Adriano Galliani has confirmed that the "very difficult" negotiations with Porto for defender Aly Cissokho ended well "thanks to the friendship with the Porto president".

The Rossoneri will pay the Portuguese side €15 million for the services of the young full-back, who can play both on the left and right hand side, with the possibility of also playing as a winger when needed, therefore making him a very useful player for coach Leonardo's plans.

There should not be any problems with the 21-year-old's contract as Milan offered him four times more what he currently earns at Porto.

In fact the Rossoneri will offer him a four year deal at €1m per season. This sum obviously enticed the player greatly and allowed the former Champions League winners to beat the competition of Olympique Lyon.

In the meantime, Milan continue their assault on Wolfsburg for their striker Edin Dzeko who is valued at around €30m, which the Italian clubs considers to be too high as they can at most offer €20m plus the loan of full-back Massimo Oddo.

Its official, he is a Milan player. Galliani said the negotiations were tough but thanx to him friend, bla,bla... he'll be in Milanello on monday.

I cant say anything becouse I saw this man once. It would be nice if someone who saw him more often says something in details. Maybe brk?? Can you do it?

Good thing is that, as it looks, Leonardo is picking his players. Bad news is that we lost so much already its almost impossible to recover in one summer.

Galliani is having a serious love/hate relationship with me at the moment. Not sure whether to like him or depsise him, but know that he is a wily businessman. Business men have to take risks in life, and he lost out with Kaka. Your views?:sun:

I have like 250 posts in here where I curse to Galliani and Silvio. If they locate me Im gone with the fishes :) :)

My hones wiew is this: The transfer of Ricky is unacceptably in ANY circumstances and for ANY money. Bandieras are not for sale, specially when they do not want to go ( I can explain in more details - Kak' didnt want to go ). Image and soul of the culb is baing ruined and Silvio is doing things that are out of line! Sales of Kaka' and Yoan have seriousely damaged Milan's identity as they were about to lead Milan to new levels. Its sad to see Milan bahaves like Real Betis. Im all in with ultras to sell if they dont want to pay. That is what I think. Past is past, today is now.

Hopefully, with Berlusconi putting less into our team in terms of money, our transfers are more direct and puropseful. Too many times has Berlusconi splashed out cash to satisfy some naive fans, but often on past-prime players. Now, that we have to save money, we will hopefully spend it wisely on younger players, and we have made a good start if these rumours are true about this young Porto defender!:rone:

It's finally on acmilan.com (http://www.acmilan.com), just go to the Italian site... (I really don't get why they don't update the English site more often, plus it runs terrible in Firefox ).

I'm really excited about Cissohko, would love to hear from someone who has followed him a bit more closely. I'm actually glad we didn't end up paying 20-25M euro's for Clichy, because as good as he is going forward he's really error-prone.

With this signing and the persuit of Dzeko and even Benzema it seems like we're entering a new 'era' for real now. New generation of young players coming to replace the old guard. It's what a lot of people have been asking for, let's hope Leonardo can get them working. Good thing about Leonardo and players like Cissohko is that he speaks so many languages, he speaks both French and Portugese so I don't think it'll take Cissohko as long to gel with the team as it did with Flamini for eksampel.

a very imporant signings which gives me hopes for the future.Galliani signed the best option and most expensive option when there was cheap alternatives like Dossena,Grosso and Pasqual.juve is trying for them, considering we have better wing backs than theirs,Galiani aimed high and signed the best LB on the market though we dont have much problem on wing backs compared to other positions.but yet Galliani can spend 15m euros for Cissokho and it gives so much hope to me for the future.

im looking forward to see his duels with Maicon next season.

hope now,Dzeko and then we'll strentgh our midfield, with Hernanes and Mariga.then A world clas cb and then Kaka replacement.

Here is a bit about the sort of player he is:

Goal.com Expert View: Aly Cissokho's Move To Milan
The Rossoneri are unlikely to be disappointed with Cissokho, according to the experts at Goal.com...
14 Jun 2009 14:45:58

Milan have snapped up dynamic Porto defender Aly Cissokho for €15 million. The player just spent six months at the Estadio do Dragao before the Rossoneri pounced. Our experts provide some comment here on the Milanese giants' newest acquisition.

Luis Mira, Goal.com's Portuguese expert, suggests that the former FC Gueugnon man has been making a positive impression since moving to Portugal a year ago.

"After some impressive displays for Vitória Setubal in which he was the club's best player, he opted to join FC Porto just one day after an eye-catching display against the Dragons for the League Cup. Porto had been in need of a left-back for some time and Cissokho filled that void perfectly," he claims.

"Cissokho imposed himself in Porto's starting XI right after his arrival but it was against Manchester United [in the Champions League quarter-finals] that he caught the eye of Europe's finest clubs."

Mira reveals that the France-born starlet is already an adept player and he believes the Rossoneri have made an excellent purchase.

"A strong left-back, Cissokho is calm when fulfilling his defensive duties, despite his young age, and has drawn admiring glances. However, his offensive attributes have also earned rave reviews. Such a complete profile is rare in a 21-year-old, but we will surely see more of this tireless player in the future."

Meanwhile, Alexandre Walraevens, Chief Editor of Goal.com France has been impressed by the rise of the defender, but insists it is deserved.

"He played very well for just six months [at Vitoria Setubal] and FC Porto decided to buy the man in the last winter transfer period for €300,000!

"Only one year ago he was relegated in third division in France, he has now signed a contract with AC Milan!"

Exactly, there's no way Jankulovski should leave. He's still a competent full back, and he's excellent in the midfield. Right now him, Seedorf and Pirlo are the only ones that can play in the midfield who's not a 'DM', so I think it would be fair to say that we still need him.

Amen...100% agree...in fact I CLEARLY REMEMBER Galliani (and Ancelotti) saying a few months ago that we will buy a new left back so that Marek Jankulovski can permanently move into midfield next season. Expect Janku to be competing for a starting left midfield position in 2009/10. And before you criticize my post :) please see a few games where he plays there. He's quite awesome...

Actually, Jankulovski is an average fullback because he can't defend ... but if Cissokho is our starter, then Jankulovski will be able to compete for a place in the midfield, and if Cissokho has an injury, Jankulovski can play some games again in this LB position.

This way, that will mean that in the worst case, our LB player will be the one we have had for the last 3-4 years, which means we improve this position as this former starter will be the backup.

If we sell Jankulovski, we will have the same problem as this year: if Cissokho is injured, Zambrotta will have to play on the left ... and like except Flamini, we have no decent backup for this RB position (Antonini for Serie A is ok, but I can't imagine him in CL, and if we use again Flamini there, that means there will be less competition in midfield).

So I'm happy if we do some signings of this kind, but I will wait the end of the mercato to be really happy (waiting to see if we sell some players or not, hoping we won't because for me, it would be a mistake, we really need a bench).

Actually reports are saying that Milan will pay £13m PLUS £1 per trophy Cissokho wins with us. Considering his young age, this guy could become really expensive. I have to tip my hat for Porto, they are truly incredible businessmen, selling their players for tons and tons of money and get new great ones for cheap.

With that being said, this guy really looks promising. For those who saw the Man Utd - Porto matches, Cissokho completely neutralized Ronaldo defensively, and from what I hear he's got speed and stamina to run forward a lot. Regardless he's young and we can improve his skills as long as the talent is there.

Galliani said it, we are buying young players to build a new great generation, and it's 100% the correct thing for the club. Maybe we won't win any titles the next few years, but if we can use the time to build a new young team, I'm sure we once again will dominate for years to come.

Mystik

No comment on this guy because I've never seen him play before myself. I wish him all the best, and I hope he can defend because Janku is HORRIBLE in this regard. Signing a proper left back and pushing Janku into midfield is the right thing to do, let's just hope this guy is a proper left back.

Now just a CD, MF, AM, ST and we're good =)

More on Milan's newest player:

Player Profile: Cissokho

Full name: Aly Cissokho
Position: Defender
Date of birth: 15 September 1987
Birthplace: Blois, France

Few players can match the meteoric rise to stardom of Aly Cissokho. In less than one calendar year the left-back progressed from playing for a modest French second division outfit to a stellar performance in front of over 70,000 fans at Old Trafford in the Champions League quarter-final. (Manchester United 2-2 FC Porto)

But taking a closer look at the attributes of the defender, perhaps we should not be so surprised at his rapid rise to the top. Cissokho’s surging runs down the left flank, superb crossing ability, strength in the tackle and ever-improving positional sense proves he has all the tools to become one of the world’s leading left-backs.

There is a considerable school of thought that argues the full-back has become the most important position in modern football. Cissokho’s impact on an FC Porto team struggling to move into top gear lends weight to that argument.

The player arrived at the Estadio do Dragao after just five months at Setubal in the January 2009 transfer window. Coach Jesualdo Ferreira had no hesitation in throwing the 21-year-old straight into the first team. The French-born defender showed some nerves in his first games, but quickly settled to become an undisputed starter, playing a key role as Porto went on a run of 13 victories and 2 draws in 15 league matches to claim the Portuguese championship.

Complete confidence

The unbounded confidence Ferreira showed in Cissokho had a galvanising effect on his performances, culminating in that memorable display at Old Trafford as FC Porto were unlucky to be denied victory at the reigning European champions. Not content to rest on his laurels, Cissokho continued to work hard, especially on the defensive side of his game, and looks ever more the finished article.

Little wonder, therefore, that a host of European clubs were soon linked with a summer swoop for the defender. While the heady pace of his career progression has taken most by surprise, the coach who gave Cissokho his debut in Portugal at Setubal, Dauto Faquira, says it is a natural consequence of his faultless attitude to the game:

“Cissokho always wants to learn more. He came from the lower leagues in France, but showed right from the off a hunger to learn. He put enormous effort into training, he wanted to develop, he made a big effort to learn Portuguese and absorb all the information transmitted to him. He’s a very ambitious and competitive youngster.”

player ratings man utd - porto

Cissokho (8): An admirable showing from a virtual unknown. His athleticism was a joy to behold. His power and strength up and down the flank was immense and he did a good job of digging out a number of decent crosses. A real prospect.

and Porto - Man utd (0-1)

Cissokho 7.5 - The highly-rated left-back was strong as United started well, and positive as Porto started to make headway. Perhaps just edged on-off personal battle with Ronaldo, but left it a tad late to start really getting forward.

He is very fast and he is very good to attack, but he need learn a few more to defend. He come to Setubal from 2nd french division and Porto bought him in January. From there he learned much there. Has a great desire to learn really.

Good luck Cissohko; good luck Rossoneri...

Saliwonczyk - is it your nickname or surname? Have you got any links with Poland? ;> Ur nick sounds like polish surname and I know there is a lot of Poles in Australia. :)

Ciao Cissokho, arrivederci Janku? ;>

Humble players with a level head will succeed anywhere! This guy is a real battler, and in a short space of time, he has gone from Ligue 3, then to Porto, and now to Milan! Never gives up hope and always applies himself; just what our team needs!

You may be right, but I am probably correct about the Greek population here in Australia. Anyway, we are very multicultural, and accepting of all sports including soccer, which is reasonably big over here. EPL is most popular here, but now and then, AC Milan gets talked of...

Here is a bit more on what the player had to say!

Porto Star Aly Cissokho: I Choose Milan
The French defender says he did not think twice when the Rossoneri knocked on his door.
15 Jun 2009 08:57:12

Milan completed the signing of flying wing-back Aly Cissokho from Portuguese club Porto yesterday for a reported €15 million.

The 21-year-old will land in Italy’s fashion capital this afternoon to have a medical prior to signing a five-year contract, allegedly worth €1m per season.

French giants Olympique Lyonnais were also said to be in the running to secure his services, however, Milan general manager Adriano Galliani travelled to Portugal on Saturday to personally complete negotiations.

“It’s an opportunity I could not afford to lose and when it presented itself, I hoped it would end this way,” Cissokho is quoted as saying in the Corriere dello Sport.

“Milan are a great team and when I had to choose between the Rossoneri and Lyon, I had no doubts, because of the Italian club’s history and also for the words that Adriano Galliani said. He captivated me.”

After completing his medical at Le Betulle clinic tomorrow, Cissokho will go back to enjoying his holidays and is expected to be unveiled after Milan meet up to start their pre-season preparations on July 6.

“I can’t wait to be in Milan and I am eager to repay their faith and put myself at Leonardo’s disposal,” added the versatile wing-back. “What’s my role? I can play on both flanks, but I prefer the left one.”Vince Masiello, Goal.com

Well spoken, and good persuasive skills by Galliani. Trust me, Lyon would have offered more, because the president is obssessed with this player. :nana:

If he can play both flanks, then our FBs are pretty set with Zambro, Cissokho and Antonini capable of playing both sides, then Oddo and Bonera on the right, Janku and Favalli on the left, then there is always Flamini, who can play both flanks too.

His transfer was really judged by his performances against Manchester United this season. Has a striking similarity with the reason we picked up Senderos, when he starred against us at the San Siro. However, Porto fans praise this player, yet Arsenal fans acknowledge how crap Senderos is! Hopefully, he will not dissapoint, and show a bit more mobility then the stone stautue of Senderos can. If you see some of his video clips, it is proven that he can move fast, VERY fast! :grinser:

Dude, thats two completely different cases.
First Cissokho is one of Leo's first target while Senderous was Milan last option to get a CB.
Secondly, Lyon tried to sign him, and that pretty much means, he is an up and comer.
Lastly, Senderous is pure crap and everyone knows it, heck even the MGT knows it or else they would have bought him straight away instead of loaning him first.

Always wondered why Wegner let go of Senderos so easily, and why Milan just got him on Loan. Both parties were not confident in his ability, and Arsenal were hoping to get some decent cash in the slim hope that Sendros actually improved. Such a dumb and rough player suits the EPL far more then the Italian Serie A, which requires clever defenders aware of proper tactics.

Some more of what Galliani had directly to say about this certain transfer:

AC Milan chief Galliani delighted to sign "wonderful" Cissokho
15.06.09 | tribalfootball.com
AC Milan have snapped up Porto wing-back Aly Cissokho.

The 22-year-old Porto defender can play both right-back and left-back and, although no official figures have been named, it’s believed he was signed for £13m.

“The negotiations during the night were intense,” Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told the official club website.

“We consider Cissokho to be a wonderful player and the proof of that is in the interest shown in him by some of the most important European clubs.

“At the end of the day the friendship between sides after so many years proved decisive, as in the past we were co-founders of the G-14 with the Porto directors.”

I think this could turn out to be a fantastic purchase. Obviously nothing is ever a cetainty, but if he settles in then i think we'll have a great player for our side.

As with many, i saw him v man utd in the old trafford match and he just never stopped running. His energy just seemed limitless, up and down the left-flank all game. He's obviously rough round the edges and i think he's a bit over-priced, but it's a definite step in the right direction.

Every purchase we make this summer will probably be over-priced, but there's not alot we can do about that.

Zambrotta - Nesta (hopefully) - Silva - Cissokho ... that's a good balance of youth, pace and experience and if all fit that should be our starting defence.

I agree he is overpriced. 15 mil euros only for a fullback with only half of season in Porto? But again my optimism is with that this could be Leonardo's idea. We bought Kaka and intended to loan him out in his first year, suddenly he took Rui Costa's place. The same with Pato (but with much more money to spend). For me this is similar with management decision to let Leonardo to coach Milan. I am still confused.

What I see from him that Milan really could benefit from it is his phisical strength that helps him to go forward and especially to do his job in defensive role (he looks good enough with respect of the defensive and offensive abilities), something we really have missed for a couple of years. Since Jankulovski played regularly with Milan, the left side has been always our weakness regarding especially our defensive ability. The CBs very often had to cover Janku's task. Left fullback was also the spot that lacked of crosses last year (well a year before last year Janku's ablility to cross was 'covered' by Oddo's terrible crosses :D).

We will change our tactic with bringing a tower and utilising our flanks and Cissokho SEEMS able to do the job to serve the strikers and to help the CBs.

ACMILAN1983
16-06-2009, 03:37
A few points about the discussion in this thread. For starters, I don't think we'd get him for anything less than 15m as Porto are hard negotiators. Like Lyon, if you want their players then you have to pay for them. In this regard I'm inclined to believe Galliani that negotiations were hard.

We're taking a big gamble with this guy, but it's a gamble that seems to be worth taking. Put aside the Man Utd performances where he made his name, from what I've heard about him from anyone who's seen him on a more frequent basis, he's more than just a normal talent, and has huge potential. He's also incredibly keen to learn constantly, which bodes very well for his development.

His rise is interesting too. To have come from nowhere and be thrown straight into the Porto team is no easy feat. More importantly, there's been a strong correlation between him playing for Porto and their rise during the season. From what I gather, they were struggling before he joined and then after he joined in the 15 games he played, they won 13 and drew 2. Whilst I'm not going to attribute all this success to him, it cannot be denied that's quite a "coincidence".

This signing is a gamble, but it seems we made an educated guess before taking a gamble with him. These are the kind of gambles we should take when making purchases.

Forgot to add, Galliani may not be lying that we've been after this guy for a year. Cissokho has said that he became aware of interest from Milan which motivated him a lot in the league and CL.

Even the word 'adequate' is an exaggeration Ario. Enough is enough, buddy. We're heading to the wrong direction if we still have a 39 year old in our bench.

Anyway, welcome on board Ally..

I don't really have an issue with keeping Favalli for another season on the bench. The role he should be given is similar to what Costacurta had in his final years. Essentially a Coppa player, but an experienced head should we need it.

Yes, having a 39 year old on the bench is the wrong move, yet you cannot take away the fact that Favalli did a reasonable job last year after all the defensive injuries. He seems to be respected alot by Maldini, which isn't a light thing. Hopefully, though, we will get enough extra defenders to let the verteran go!:5schal:

I don't understand either. If I remember correctly, his price is not that much and he was pretty good when he moved forward doing his offensive tasks. His weakness is his defensive skills (pretty bad IMO) but a Serginho's type player (offensive fullback) can be useful for us (to play in other position or as sub and comes when the team need to play more offensively) or he can be also trained to improve his defensive ability.

Aly Cissokho's Move To AC Milan Collapses

The Porto player will not be moving to the San Siro, according to the latest reports...

Earlier today, it was reported that concerns arose during Aly Cissokho's medical ahead of his move to AC Milan, regarding the player's teeth.

The left-back's move has now collapsed following the failed medical and he will not be joining the Rossoneri from Porto. There was a €15 million deal in the works, but the player will now remain a member of the Portuguese club after not signing the proposed contract.

The 21-year-old's agent, Boli, had little to say on the matter, but was clearly disappointed the transfer is now void. "You'll have to speak with Milan," he responded, according to Goal.com Italia, when asked about the latest developments.

Cissokho is considered a rising star, having moved to Porto in January 2009 and impressed enough to attract the interest of several to sides, including the Serie A giants.

Milan have yet to reveal the exact reason he failed the medical, but you can read some expert opinion on the possibilities by clicking here.

Many sections of the press had praised the acquisition of the defender, believing he would be a key member of the squad under new coach Leonardo.

So let's wait and see, really hope it goes through. First of for Milan, but also for Aly. From what I heard he's a real hard worker and it would be terrible for him to fail a medical, since it would seriously harm his future as a footballer.

Apparently during his first medical, club doctor Jean-Pierre Meersseman found some teeth problems which led to the negotiations stalling before a new examination was carried out.

However, a second medical was taken later on this afternoon and this time no problems were found, thus paving the way for the 21-year-old's move to the Rossoneri.

This was confirmed by the French player before departing for his holidays in Senegal.

"I confirm that I undertook a first medical which highlighted some problems, but soon afterwards a second more detailed check-up went well," declared the future Milan player to Maisfutebol.

"I already signed the pre-contract and now I go for my holidays in Senegal."

This means that on his return there will be a contract to sign which will tie him down to the Rossoneri, when he can therefore start his new adventure in Serie A.

Teeth?
I would hope that's just some weird translating error (although I cannot imagine what that error could be), because that's just weird. What'd teeth have to do with athletic performance, except in those strongman competitions where they pull a semi truck with said choppers? :D

This teeth part is taken too seriously and literally by many here. Apparently it's not the teeth themselves that are the problem......but it is some kind of bacteria/disease(?? don't know what to call it) that is found in the teeth and gums and it has influence on the muscle tissue and the heart in the body. Depending on how serious it is, it can cause the heart to beat irregularly and also problems and injuries in the muscle tissue. That's the reason why a second more detailed test was done to see how serious the problem actually is.

The thing that pisses me off is that websites like goal.crap found something out and wrote down every possible crap title they could think of on their website. The fans going nuts without even trying to find out the extend of the issue doesn't help much either.

I honestly doubt that the teeth problems are the real concern. Despite Galliani trying every excuse to get a bargain he wouldn't risk such a demand in the case of losing this young star. There must be something we haven't been told about, or this condition is worse than expected...:pr78::lala:

Where was it officially confirmed the transfer is off?

Last I heard Galliani says Porto must meet our demands and if they don't the transfer is off. Porto as far as I know haven't answered yet.

This is a farce really, I mean the player is saying the medical went well the second time and the pre-agreement has been signed and the full contract should be ready and waiting when he's back from holiday. Galliani is saying that nothing is assured and the deal looks most likely to be off, unless Porto meet our demands. Porto haven't said a word as far as I know.

I'm sick of hearing so many mixed messages from our club. First there was the Carlo debacle, which was still manageable. Then Kaka, where there was this ridiculous fuore for a decision that had apparently been taken a while ago. Lately it's Pato, Rino and Pirlo, where apparently one day the players are being quoted as saying one thing then the next day they're refuting all these comments. Then of course there's Dzeko, who is apparently for sale one day and not the next. Now it's this joke of a transfer, where all parties seem to be giving off different messages. Why is it no other clubs have all this BS surrounding them?

also with Ambrosini (our next skipper, 'papi' said!) there are problems. Galliani would want to reduce his wage, yesterday night this is what i have heard from Mediaset source.
Ok, I say if there is a new coach, well, change the team, get the players Leo want for his way of play. Sell Pirlo and Gattuso, if they wanna go to Chelsea and buy other promising young players, Hernanes or Fabregas. But the bald duo at the same time also has to sell Dida Kalac and all the sh.it we have had :2whis: and they have to resolve the big trouble because of the only one no EU player to buy (thanks to Viudez and $heva).
Are they unable to sell the young uruguayan? Is it possible that no teams in Europe want this player? I ask why they have bought him? In Italy, in these situations, we say: it's a big 'pacco', it wasn't Fonseca to sell us the 2 burdens, :neww: but it was Malcolm McLaren that went to them in disguise! what a big swindle! :5130:

How do Sheva and Viudez affect our non-EU signings? They were both signed last year. As a matter of fact, we have 1 non-EU left right now because Sheva left. The other non-EU is taken by Thiago Silva.

So as the rules stand right now.......Whether Viudez goes or stays is irrelevant because we will still have only 1 non-EU spot left.

GALLIANI: "Dzeko unico obiettivo, mercato Milan concluso"

In short Galliani said that Dzeko is the only Milan's objective, and Milan's market is closed.

OK, whose the first shooter on Galliani? :v46::sagrin:

No, it is not irrelevant, because for every non EU player engaged from outside Italy with an Italian club another non EU player must be released.
And at the moment the maximum engagement of non EU players are 2 for each club.

This means that Sheva's place is filled by Thiago Silva and Dzeko if he comes will take Viudez place. And if the rules will be emended for the 3 player and Milan will sign Hernanes, then Kalac must be released.

Of all the things we can criticize the management over, and of course there are many, being careful over a medical issue is not one of them. Even if it's just a potential issue. Having said that they should decide and not leave others (including Porto) in limbo, asking for a discount over a medical issue is not what I call fair.

Galliani is in no position to be negotiating for the deal.. It's true that his price is 15m and thats ridiculous, but thats just tough luck. At the moment, Italian clubs are allowed 1 non-EU player to come in, and another one to come in to replace a non-EU player leaving. Now that Sheva has left and Thiago has taken his place, we could get one more without needing any Non-EU players to leave.

I think the agent wants the deal to go through so he pockets his commission. If it doesn't, then they're back to square 1 again. Another club will make a bid, but would be likely to be less, he will have to negotiate a contract again---again likely to be less than what we offered, and he ends up having to work harder and pocketing less comission.

So, let him earn his money. Let the agent do the rest of the work, if it works out Cissokho joins us, if not, then we look elsewhere. I don't know why the signing of a young prospect from Portugal is causing so much angst.

My view remains we need a clear cut off line. We've already made an agreement. If the player is passed fit, then we should stick to that agreement. If the player has serious risks or is not passed fit, then the deal should be called off. Trying to renegotiate for a risk not only muddies the water, but it's questionable as to why we're willing to pay less for a player who is at risk than the original agreed amount. I also think your comment about people thinking they're smarter than they are is really inappropriate.

Sorry for the comment, Dev, I take it back. The only reason I was frustrated is because none of us here have been involved in any negotiations to sign a player, yet we all feel like we know more than Galliani, Braida, et al who have regularly been bringing some of the biggest names to MIlan. In this instance, we have to admit that we have no experience in evaluating players' medicals, re-evaluating a transfer fee and re-negotiating with other clubs. It's easy to sit here and accuse Galliani of incompetence when none of us have the capacity to conduct deals like that.

Whether or not there should be a black and white line with the medical is your opinion, but you and I don't have access to all the facts. We haven't spoken to Milan's medical staff, nor have we seen the result of Cissokho's tests. IF so, how can we claim to know more than Galliani? I think it's fair enough for us to trust the club's judgement on this one and just move on. To suggest that Galliani is using the players' medical as a ploy or is purposely trying to reduce the price, I think is very unfair and is not based on any fact.

It's ok, I think it's fairly emotional times for all Milan fans (I was sorry for one of my posts yesterday), so let's just leave it in the past and move on.

This argument is similar to when we criticise coaches or players. We never know the full picture, and our arguments are made from our personal perspectives. I respect the idea that there is something afoot here that I myself don't know about. For this reason I have chosen to use the word "questionable" when speaking of decisions appearing to have been made by the club. I do think this has been drawn out longer than it should have been though.

Spot on there. The majority of some stupid transfers made by Milan in recent times have been pushed by our patron Berlusconi, who wants to increase the image of the club, but through budget!

Galliani offers little opinion, but is the business broker in many ways. From bringing in greats such as Costa and Kaka, to has-beens such as Sheva (second time around), he never fails in delivering in his president's demands. With Berlusconi moving away as President, and also offering less financial support, it only seems fair that he stay further away fom Milan's transfer plans. So don't attribute old player signings as Galliani's fault, as you will see in the next few months what quality youth players he can bring into the club due to his amazing negotiating skills.

And yes, despite some injury problems, the Milanello staff are of top quality. They have managed to keep (against their will most of the time) many older player such as Favalli from going on, as well as extending the career of Maldini. So they would have made a proper analysis on Cissoko, and seen a great deal of risk in the LB. Therefore, it seems logical that a loan deal or budget price would be asked by Galliani. Hopefully, Porto will be reasonable and accept negotiations with Milan in regards to this. Cissoko's appeal to other clubs has taken a dip due to this problem, and if they don't sell the player or loan him out to milan, he will remain a potential problem to their club as well.

What I don't understand is that he now says we don't need full backs, as the ones we have are enough. If that's the case, then why the **** did you want Aly in the first place?

In my view, there are four priorities for Milan in the transfer market: a new CB, a new Keeper, a new targetman, and some younger players.
But Galliani will ignore the goal-keeping problem, and prioritise the following: 1 New foward 2. New CB 3. younger players

I guess Cissoko fell under the younger player category, as he would not have sealed up our defense without the capture of another full back.
Still think strongly that Milan really need a new back-up keeper, relatively young, to play second string to Abbiati, and perhaps push hard for the number one position. Cannot see Dida and Kalac doing so, and they are certainly no "spring chickens" these days either.

Agent: Aly Cissokho's Transfer From Porto To Milan Is Back On
Aly Cissokho's agent surprisingly revealed that the negotiations for his transfer to Milan are still ongoing.
20 Jun 2009 21:58:56

It seemed like the deal had collapsed, but according Aly Cissokho's agent, the Porto full back may still join Milan.

In an interview with L'Equipe, agent Roger Boli claimed that the transfer has almost been completed.

"There are a few details left, the only problem was tied to the agreement between the two clubs on the value of the transfer," he said. "The negotiations are ongoing, but I'm fairly confident."

Earlier this week the Porto player had undergone medical tests at Milanello, which did not go smoothly, as a problem to his teeth was found.

Thus Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani also announced the move was off, and Porto told the Portuguese stock market that the deal was cancelled.

In light of the above, and no further word from the clubs in question, these claims by the player's agent come as something of a surprise.

It seems that this transfer saga isn't quite over yet - at least not if Boli has anything to do with it. After all, he said two days ago that the transfer would go ahead, and he's done so again tonight...

Report: Milan & Porto Agree Aly Cissokho Transfer Fee

The French wing-back looks set to complete his move to the Rossoneri for €10m...

Negotiations between Milan and Porto over defender Aly Cissokho had apparently broken down on Friday, after the player failed a medical and Diavoli general manager Adriano Galliani revealed that the Portuguese club were unwilling to re-negotiate the terms of the deal.

The two clubs had reportedly agreed a €15million transfer fee for the 21-year-old last Sunday, but Milan team doctors discovered a problem with his teeth during a routine medical at Le Betulle Clinic.

Porto rejected Milan’s new offer to sign the player on loan with a view to a permanent signing next summer, but La Gazzetta dello Sport today claims that the Dragoes have now accepted a reduced bid of €10m.

An official announcement could arrive at the start of next week.

The agreement was also confirmed by Cisokho’s agent, Roger Boli, in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe last night.

“There are a few details left,” he said.

“The only problem was tied to the agreement between the two clubs on the value of the transfer. The negotiations are ongoing, but I'm fairly confident.”

Report: Milan Make New Bid For Porto Defender Aly Cissokho
The Rossoneri are ready to meet Porto’s original asking price, but only if the Frenchman plays 50 per cent of the Rossoneri’s games next season.
23 Jun 2009 08:53:22

Milan have resumed talks with Porto over full-back Aly Cissokho after the deal appeared to have collapsed, and the Rossoneri have lodged a revised bid to take the 21-year-old to the San Siro.

After dental and muscular problems were discovered during a routine medical last week, Milan general manager Adriano Galliani tried to renegotiate the terms of the deal.

Instead of buying him outright for €15 million, the Diavoli proposed to sign Cissokho on loan for €3m and then decide whether to make the move permanent next summer.

The bid was rejected, however, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan are not giving up and have approached the Portuguese outfit with yet another offer.

The Diavoli will still pay €3m for a loan move, but are prepared to shell out the remaining €12m if Cissokho plays at least 50 per cent of their games next season.

Cissokho penned a pre-contract deal with Milan worth €1m-per-year until 2014 before leaving for Senegal last week, however, the Corriere dello Sport reports he will fly in to Italy again today to persuade the club to push for his transfer.

Porto President: Milan Must Pay Up Or Forget Aly Cissokho
Porto have told Milan to return to the original terms of the deal or forget about the player as there will not even be a €1 discount...

Milan's move for Aly Cissokho is on the verge of collapsing again after Porto president Pinto da Costa warned the Italians that they will have to cough up the cash initially agreed or they should forget a deal.

The Portuguese chief is reluctant to offer the Rossoneri a discount, and he wants the Italian club to go back and respect the original terms of the transfer if they want to sign the French full-back.

Those terms included a €15 million payment, however, Milan have tried to use a medical problem with the player to obtain a discount.

Although they still want to proceed with the transfer, Milan have insisted that Porto do so in the Italian way. The Rossoneri want an initial loan deal worth €3m, with the option to buy the player permanently next year if Cissokho plays at least 50 per cent of Milan's matches.

The deal is now once again in serious doubt, and Da Costa's words could scupper any progress just days after Cissokho's agent claimed the revised talks were moving well.

"It is inconceivable to think of accepting the loan when the Milan physician has admitted that the problem with his teeth is solved," Da Costa told Expresso.pt.

"Cissokho moves only for €15m and nothing less. If Milan do not return to the initial proposal, we will have no trouble keeping the player."

The other topics, starting from Aly Cissokho: "With the Porto president we are friends for many years, it's true what he says. The contract was sealed even with a handshake, but it was cancelled at the medical visits. The medical found that there were problems and with a written opinion by the doctors I cannot do otherwise. Without these problems, the player would have joined us. Either cissokho arrives or we keep our players, we have signed Abate yesterday. On Cissokho there are no limits, there are no end terms, he can also arrive later, because either he arrives or we keep our players. Real? It's true that if Milan wanted, it would have priority on the players is excess. It's the result of the friendship with Florentino Perez. However, we are searching for a striker. Not Van Nistelrooy. At most Huntelaar, but for the time being we're on Dzeko."

According to milannews, now Cissokho has said (I think to Gazzetta) that these problems with his teeth aren't a problem. Basically after the medical he wasn't told anything and he thinks this whole thing is about getting a price cut.

I think us fans knew that for a while. I think Galliani maybe took it too far this time around.....

Cissokho demands Milan answer Saturday 4 July, 2009

Aly Cissokho has blasted Milan for using his medical as “an excuse to stop the transfer” and urged them to reach a new deal with Porto.
The full-back was announced officially on the Rossoneri website as a new signing, but his medical on June 17 saw the move grind to a halt.

Milan claimed an issue with his teeth could cause muscular injuries over the course of time.

“I am fine and have no problem with my teeth, they are as perfect as always,” assured Cissokho in the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I never had a problem like this in my career, just as I have never had muscular issues in recent years.

“I don’t know why Milan are saying these things, but I don’t like it. I only found out some time after the medical.

“I went to Senegal for 10 days and when I returned from my holiday they told me there was a problem.”

It has been reported the Rossoneri wanted to reduce the price-tag after discovering this issue, but negotiations with Porto have ground to a halt.

“I did two medicals – one for Milan and one for the Italian Federation – and nobody told me there was anything unusual. It’s just an excuse to stop the transfer.

“Now I am tired of this situation. I hear from one side that I’m going to Milan, then I’m staying at Porto, then leaving to go somewhere else. I want an answer.

“Porto don’t want me to talk about this, but the real problem is not my teeth. In this whole affair the issue is money.”

So maybe I was really right, Galiani did not want to pay for Cissokho.
And I was probably right that Galliani and company really did come up with a story citing his dental problems which never even existed.

I bet Djeko was something of a similar case. Didn't Galliani said when a player wants to go, he most likely gets his way?
I bet it's another case where he didn't even wanna pay again.
It sure was funny that Djeko re-iterated on several occasions that he wanted to join Milan. Only to come out saying he'll see out his contract at Wolfsburg on the very last day. Maybe Galliani threatened to stuff his small head onto his ever-green under hair if he'd not promise to make the statement.

Like I said before, we ain't gonna buy anyone this summer.

Galliani already told us to be patient, end of Aug, we'll buy a big name forward/striker.
It ain't gonna happen...

Actually, the deal has hit a problem with money, so it's looking less likely.

He's officially signed with Lyon. Damnit for some reason I actually believed in Galliani and I thought he was just playing hard-ball..... but the bastrd let him go completely! At the beginning, most of you were right when you said give them time, and they will sign their targets - but now we have already lost our first objective (do you remember how they were talking about Cissokho being the face of the new Milan on the website?).

If we are still waiting for the sales then we better stfu and not announce anything until mid August. Giving us hope and taking it away like that is completely uncalled for - especially at a time like this when everyone's against them including their own fans.

RIDICULOUS!
