Just wondering because i am ADDICTED to this game! Year in, year out, i always go Milan, and the present one of the hardest challenges in the game. Apart from having an ageing squad and injuries galore, you have little to no money so even getting throught the first season is a challenge. So i just thought id see if anyone else plays? Do you go Milan? If so, what players do you buy and any success stories? Tactics etc?

Thought it would be good to get a conversation (if there is already an old one, goot to get a new one) going, so let me know!

Maybe wrong place for this thread?

But yes, I have recently played it, and boy is it addicting.
Took Milan at first, but I was inexperienced (first time with the game) so I got fired in the second season. So I started a new game and am coaching smaller teams.

I had been playing that game for over 10 yrs. Always play Milan, and always end the game when all the known players are retire. Then start another game with some small team in EPL or use Parma.

As for tips for the latest version.

Try to get Sakho(PSG),or Fazio(Seville) or Breno(Bayern) right away, as those three are great CB and cheap right away. Then there are Vargas, Santon and Srna, who are also very good as FB.
Baletolli, Vela, Love are all good strikers at a cheap price in the beginning.
Marquinsho in Brazil is really good, try to get him right away too.

As for managing Milan in the beginning. Well, try selling Dida and Kalac, as there always seem to be takers. Keep Seedorf, Kala and Janku as they are not too bad in the game, ofcourse try offering them to clubs and if there is a good offer over 10mil then sell them. Selling Pirlo right away as teams will pay over 35mil for him. That should be enough for you to win the league, as long as you get a few of the players I mentioned.

One thing to remember while playing CL is the age of the players. The best age to sell a player is around 29-31. As teams will still pay crazy money for them.

Also, try looking for unhappy players as the club is usually willing to let go of them.

The same happens in FIFA manager. Personally, even on extreme mode, FIFA is too easy, especially when playing with a team like Milan...

Never play FIFA manager before, as Football Manager had been doing this sort of games long before EA SPORTS.

What I still love about FM is that, players will contribute in your winning but your tactics will always come first. If you have bad tactics, most likely you will lose or struggle. And the other aspect I love is the development of players. Great joy in developing someone who costed 500000 and then selling him for 65mil.

yep, FIFA manager is crap IMO. FM, for anyone who hasnt played is the single most addictive game in the world. Im really not kidding. As Gab says, tactics are really really important and keeping players happy etc. Even with Milans troubles, you can play one season as Milan, and as long as you finish top 3 with CL place, your always given 150mil+ for transfers. Guess that Berlu aint that generous in real life! Hey, we can dream cant we?

Football manager is awesome in terms of tactics, trainning, development.... And sometime things just happened out of the blue. Like from exp, player A will suddenly hate player B, or Player Y got injured in trainning and be out for 4 months, or Player Z just could not score for 5 months of competitions even on PK....

The only thing I don't like is the amount of transfer budget for big teams season in and season out.

I started a new game with Milan (with the game updated with the last mercato), I'm easily first in Serie A ... but I didn't manage to qualify for the second round of the CL with ... Marseille in my group (and Dynamo Kiev lol).

I don't know if I'd like the reality to be like that or not (being leaders of Serie A despite bad results in CL ...). Oh, after thinking about it, yes, I prefer that compared to good results (which don't mean winning the competition) in CL and being in trouble in Serie A !! :D
