Lets see if this works Reza :u56:
I just finished watching Chelsea vs Hull ,mainly cause Carlo is there and i really want to see if he can win the league there or not.(he has the squad to do it)
The game finished 2-1 in favor of Chelsea despite Hull being the ones to draw first blood .Chelsea played good as a team but it was the Drogba show today .
He was immense ,scored two brilliant goals . I think the title race will be between Chelsea,United &Liverpool ,don`t think Arsenal or any other team have the quality that this 3 teams have .
I think Carlo at Milan tried so repeatedly hard to get Drogba, without ever success. I wonder why.

here is his 2nd goal..
just enjoy..
Wigan's first half game at Villa was a really nice to watch, playing like a continental side. Martinez seems to have done a good job, wonder if Wigan can keep it up.

It is a day for away teams, generally. Well done to Carletto and Gianfranco; and LOL at Aston Villa.
Arsenal 6-1 Everton
Didn't see the game, but if anyone did, was Arsenal that good or Everton that bad. Anyway, poor Timmy.
As for Aston Villa, I can't help but think of a certain member from R&B. :D

i felt bad for howard. I mean he didnt deserve a clean sheet but 6 goals where in no way his fault... his defense was miserable. Especially on marking on corner/crosses.... vermuelan's header was incredibly easy

Both are on a crash course for mediocrity.
and reason #1 mark hughes will get sacked... only hughes would like up a 4-4-2 w/ bellamy uptop over robinho and tevez. I didn't see the match but he is an idiot

Should be fun, my money is on neither, ever. Lerner loves MON like Carlo loves Seedorf.
The Milan board don't do sacking, they do mutual terminations after 3 years of under achieving.
I know what's wrong with this team. Stilian Petrov. The day he comes back we suck, he can't play 4-4-2 unless he's at the side of NRC. Of course it's still Emile Heskey's fault, he's Heskey, it's always his fault.
The Arsenal game makes me worry for Everton as much as us, I like them, they're my second team but they never concede more than 3, they are a super solid team.
And finally, Delph, I admire MON for throwing a 19 year old in at the deep end but, he was asking him to do all the running in a 2 man midfield alongside Petrov.
Milner had the only shot on target in the game.

Hang on - isn't everyone from Yorkshire basically James Milner? Seems like a county of Milners failed to prevent the onset of post-industrial, post-Ridsdale depression and relegation.

If only Aberdeen had come up with anything as intelligent as that today.
Speaking of the SPL, this thread title offends me. I don't like the implication that the EPL is the only Premier League in the world - ours was called the Premier League about 10 years before yours! Must you steal everything from us :moan:
Back on the EPL - is Fellaini the least tactically disciplined player in the history of football?

Pippo is tactically disciplined, in that he sticks relentlessly to the one tactic he himself decides to use.
Drogba's 2nd goal was an outrageous fluke.

He knows how to play the 4-3-3 well, perhaps accidently. I think he wants to get the 4-4-2 to work but he's having trouble with it, our defense is weak, so it needs cover from the midfield which NRC would provide but MON doesn't like him, probably because he can't hoof a 40 yard pass.

United won one nill today and started off there campaign well .I`m going to watch Tottenham - Liverpool cause i`m bored and Torres is playing ..still hate our management for missing on him ,how stupid can u be to say his not good :5milan:
If(And it's a big if) MON did leave, I'd love Zola to replace him, he could do great things with the players we have. Hopefully persuade Carlton Cole to come over too.
Btw Milano, you were right about Cole, watching him for England and again yesterday, he's in the top 5 strikers outside the top 4. With Defoe, Carew, Bent etc.
Does any one have a good stream for the match ?atdhe has listed only justin tv ones and i can`t watch does because i keep getting the "we have reached.." blabla msg .

Palacios is a beast!
Decent game by United today. Got the jond done, should have scored more and deserved a penalty. Oh well, it's 3 points.
Oh and what a fluke by Drogba. Still a great player. Better than Torres on his day.
Arsenal remind me of United in 06/07. No one is giving them a chance because they have lost 2 key players, but they made a statement yesterday.

Just like you made a statement by destroying the mighty Birmingham 1-0 :D. Told you it would be a struggle, Birmingham is a team of championship players assembled as of last month, and you only just edge past them.
Then again, at least you won.

We were average today. But another day we would have won 5-0. It's hard to play against a team who park the bus, just ask Chelsea.

Because at his best, he scores as many goals as Torres while also bringing out the best in his teammates.
The last 2 seasons he has been hampered by injury, which has prevented him from playing his best.
I think that Drogba is the best striker in the world, when on form. Followed by Torres. If Ibra can score in some big games he will take that space though, and if Rooney actually plays in his correct position he can be in that group also.
Did you see the United game today? If so what did you think of the lay off that Rooney did to Owen with his chest?

Difference is Ronaldinho is past it. At times he can hardly run. He will never play like he did in his Barca days, for Milan.
Drogba can and will play like he did 2 years ago, if he stays clear of injuries.
For the record I hate Drogba much more thab Torres. Although Torres pissed me off today when he tried to have a fight with a Spurs player after the game, just because he lost, aswell as refusing to shake hands, like he normally does whrn Liverpool lose.
Milano84
16-08-2009, 15:06
its hard to say.... torres, ibrahimovic, drogba r the best 3 CFs in the world. Ibra by far brings the most out of his teammates, however his finishing has been suspect, and he often doesnt play like a CF. But last 1.5-2 years he's corrected that really scoring consistantly while involving all.
Drogba is not as fancy, but almost as effective in terms of link up. Very capable of the sublime, but he is not a good finisher. He's only had 1 year where he was a good finisher.
Torres is the least flashy, but in a way by far the best. If i needed 1 of the 3 to score, i'd want torres, he's by far most clinical. Technically he is very good, not as good as other two but VERY good.

I'd say that Torres is more flashy than Drogba.
But the good thing is about Drogba is that he left his play acting behind. Their were times where you could see that he was thinking about doing it, but he chose to just get up and play the right way.
Maybe Carlo has had a word. Afterall he did say that he wants to change Chelsea's image.
Changing the topic slightly, Carlo has said he thinks he will prefer England as it is more competitive, you don't get anything for free and most teams sell out every week.

i dont know that, that is far to say yet.... he's had a generally good preseason, he was ****ty on friday but then again if anyone could do anthing w/ some of his passes he wouldnt have looked as bad. He did look good at beginning of last season too....
Getting some wing or midfield help will go a long way, but he is only 29....drogba is 32. Anyway if ronaldinho is ever going to approach his barca form itll be this year, world cup year and all....

To be fair, Ronaldinho can play great this season, but in all likelyhood he won't be a patch on his early Barca form, where he was the best in the world by a mile (along with Henry).
Drogba relies on brute strength, Ronaldinho in his pomp used a lot of pace. Now he may do a few tricks, but he hasn't got the pace to take players on after using those tricks.

yeah, well in italy its ALLLLL about tactics, tactically mad. they dont care about attractive football (except top teams) its just a cesspool or tactical jargon in the papers. Teams will play the most crappy looking tactics to grind a 0-0 against juve or milan. You see some of it in england, but its nowhere near the disgustingness of a lower table italian team who will send 10 defenders and a striker looking to dive anywhere near the box...
Its a large reason i thought carlo was more effective in europe..Teams in europe play football more so, and carlo's football at its core is all about possession and balance. He's claims to not be attacking of defensive minded, but always in search of correct balance.
Because at his best, he scores as many goals as Torres while also bringing out the best in his teammates.

I have to disagree :Torres is miles ahead of were Drogba was at his age ,he also has a better scoring average then him / match and he also had problems whit injury .
Ibra like u said ,if he can finally stop choking he can be right up there .As for Rooney i don`t know ,i mean i know his talented but i would like to see him play as a st before i pass judgment on him .
The game i did not see cause i wasn't able to find a good stream (justin tv can piss off) but can you post the highlights ,i want to see that.
Oh and forgot ,Drogba admitted he wanted to cross on his second goal, props to him for not being a douche bag .
I prefer this name.
Arrghh. Just seen Murray has taken the 2nd set. Come on Del Potro!

yeah, well in italy its ALLLLL about tactics, tactically mad. they dont care about attractive football (except top teams) its just a cesspool or tactical jargon in the papers.
True.
His formation for Chelsea has been interesting.
--------Drogba-----Anelka---------
-------------Lampard--------------
-------Malouda------Essien--------
---------------Mikel--------------
There was little width when they played Hull. Chelsea's season will depend on how quicly they adapt to this formation. If they sort it out very soon, they will win the title. But it could take time, and unless you're United once you're 5/6 points behind, it's hard to get back. Especially when they CL comes around.
Speaking of the CL, Arsenal vs Celtic will be interesting. I think Arsenal will batter them tbh.

btw, im watching replay of liverpool-tottenham game. Modric, is really something. I dont even think wing is his best position, but you're not gonna play him in a 2 man CM and tottenham dont have a good enough CF to go w/ just 1 forward...

I agree about the age thing. Torres will surpass Drogba by a fair bit, but currently I'd say Drogba is slightly ahead of Torres, when both are at their best.
btw, Foster did a wonder save in the last 10 minutes. He had a shocker vs Chelsea but he actually is quality.

u got to understand carlo never really used balance formations.... it was gattuso at RM and serginho/seedorf at LM for years....
its more about intelligent passing and movement for his teams which is y he always prefers older players. I wouldn't be surprised if beckham went to chelsea BTW. Him and Carlo get on well

They don't have another winger either to put him in the centre. That's the main reason they wanted Young.
Defoe is good enough to play by himself, a bit small but you don't need to be big to play lone striker. He's going to score around 20 goals this year.

Crouch works well with Defoe as much as he's hated he always scores.
I hope Darren Bent does well at Sunderland this season, we missed the boat with him, he's better than Defoe IMO.
Spurs have probably the 6th best team in the prem.

Nope, it's because of his gloriously upper class accent. Champion.
Oh and Arsenal will give rrrrrasellickbyrawaybigman a right doing over the two legs. I don't think Mowbray has the sense to play for a clean sheet at Celtic Park, and Celtic's defence is pish. Arsenal's full backs have the pace to deal with McGeady and Maloney, so as long as they don't show them any respect whatsoever, the green half of Glasgow FC have got nothing.
And while I was typing, Murray won. YAS!

We have Rafael and Fabio. Johnson is 7 years older than them. He is a good player though.

All the highlights have been removed, only the dowloadable highlights are available now...and I don't think you'd be interested in them, I guess anyway?

Don't worry. If he is as good as they say then he will come to United.
We have a 'relationship' with Sporting, and get first refusal on any transfers involving young players.

There is a difference between playing like a crab and going sideways, to actually controling the tempo of a game.
Seeing as Villa have never had a player who could do this I doubt you would understand ;)

4 assists, one goal. Not much more has to be said really. Not many playmakers mature as early as this guy has..and it feels like he has been around forever. What's the record on number of assists provided by one player in a single game?

The BEST that the EPL has to offer :respect:

By the way, we had some one with similar kind of goal celebration style, but at the end he turned out to be a liar :dconf:
Premier League is becoming more and more ridiculous !!
3 games ended by a 6-0 this W-E (Wigan - Chelsea, Arsenal - Blackpool, Newcastle - Aston Villa), which means that there are already 4 games having ended with such a ridiculous score after only 2 days (Chelsea already won their first game 6-0).
Too many teams whose only strength is a couple of hard working or 'committed' players.
I think it has always been that way but now the league is becoming more polarized because the money gap is bigger. Even Aston Villa who have an American owner can't or don't spend that much.

IMO, it's the start of the end of the Golden Age of Premier League (2000's years). Manchester United and Liverpool are financially in trouble, Chelsea doesn't spend anymore (they look like us 2-3 years ago, but with less talent in the team than us at that time, I mean, if they keep that team for 2-3 more years without changing too many things, they won't see a semi-final of CL anymore), the small clubs aren't good and don't manage to improve, even a team like Manchester City with Mancini and "unlimited" money to spend struggle.
The question is, what championship will be the heir of Premier League ? Liga (the problem is that this championship looks like a Barcelona-Real Madrid championship), Serie A (clubs have spent a bit more than usually this year) or Bundesliga (everything is set to make this league a success: stadiums, crowd, some rising stars, new owners) ?
Heir? Campeonato Brasileiro <---- I was going to put a " ;) " there but I won't.
European leagues are in too big a trouble. Barca not paying and having to take a loan, too many examples like that. Germany has two or three bigger teams doing ok but that's it as far as I know.
i think comparing leagues is a silly argument. they each have their own special something. i enjoy them all. spanish for the passion, brazilian for the tricks, italy for the love, germany for the excitement, and english, for a laugh....
haha im kidding. come on newcastle!!
Anybody entered a team into fantasypremierleague.com?
yeah i got one. teves+milner got me the win this morning :D

I'm not sure about the "too many hard-working players" part Reza. I saw those matches and I think both Blackpool and Wigan played quite the continental way instead of old kick and rush.
Indeed their defense were awful, but their midfielders and attackers did know how to really build an attack. Instead of just camping on their own half, trying to help their vulnerable defenders, they continued to attack bravely if not suicidally. And the coaches didn't seem to disapprove this.
It's as if they thought losing 0-2 and 0-8 are just the same. It reminds me a UCL game between Arsenal-Barcelona when Messi scored a hattrick last season. The Gunners tried to play their similar fluid, attacking scheme even after it was blatantly obvious that Barca were far too good for them.

If there are many more should we make a league?
sniff around, see who is interested. id be more than happy to join another one
