Since the epl is kind of a success we need a place to discuss the best league in the world (at least until recent times ).
Things need to change in Italy and fast ,main things in my opinion are :
-new tax system ,its ridiculously high compared to ones in the other top leagues. This affects the wage bill greatly and in result the team spending power is significantly reduced.
-new stadiums to bring in more revenue ,but please keep a place for curvas and don`t make them like the ones the english have.
-tv deals and marketing .Now on one hand i don`t want us to have tons of plastic fans like united ;madrid etc do ,but lets face it that's were the money comes and its a necessary evil .
I really hope things change it will be a shame if not to ,just compare the 6 -7 names of the best teams in Italy whit everyone else and u will see what i mean: Milan,Juventus,Inter,Roma,Lazio,Fiorentina,Napoli ..it just has a good ring to it:p283:
Anyway moving on to the 2009/2010 season i think the winner will be either Juventus ,Milan(if we improve drastically by the end of next week ) or Roma(no champions league pressure ,seen as outsiders but have a good squad)
As for our retarded cousins ,i`m 100% there 15 minutes of glory will end,i just hope were the ones to put in there place.:3band:

Well apparently Cambiasso is getting knee surgery, ruling him out for 6 weeks although it'll probably be more given the nature of the injury. Very bad start for them I'd say.
Anyways, talking about things that need to chance in Calcio, I think it's about time they chance the rules regarding players under 18. It's seriously annoying having English teams (Manchester United) poach every talented player under 18 just cause the Italian clubs can't give them contracts. They either need to chance the rules in Italy, or Platini needs to make it so the rules are the same for everyone, because it's obvious that it can't go on like this.

Yeah this should be a priority, it's a disgrace the way likes of Man U robbed Macheda off Lazio

Indeed ,but the rest has to change to .Kids are attracted to flashy things ,well the dumb ones mostly and since footballers are not really that smart in general ,they see the epl as eye candy compared to serie A.
Anyway talking about hypocritical idiots ,ladies and gentleman Serie A own Jose i`m a clown Mourinho:
Inter Coach Jose Mourinho Finds Alleged Lippi Comments 'Disrespectful'
Inter boss Jose Mourinho believes his side will have better luck in the Champions League this season and also spoke about a number of topics in an interview with Inter Channel.
"I have said for many years that the Champions League is a tournament of details, but I think this year we are better prepared for the details of this very special competition," he began.
Mourinho then turned his attention to comments made by Italy coach Marcello Lippi, who reportedly claimed Juventus will win the league in 2009-10.
"Maybe I should change my thoughts regarding the [Serie A] championship, because it seems to be over before it's even started," he said.
"Today is really the first time, that I read a coach, a person with a huge institutional responsibility, says that Juventus will win the next title. If it is true, even if he may mentally wish it ends well [for Juventus], I think it shows a lack of respect."
However, Mourinho was keen to clarify he did not believe that Lippi had made such bold statements.
"I still have doubts he expressed himself in this way, it's not the first time we read something that has not been said or was spoken in a different context."
Finally, the former Chelsea and Porto boss lamented the loss of defensive midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, who will be out for approximately 90 days.
"That role is fairly open, but the injury to Cambiasso is a bad loss," he concluded.

'The Special One' was not pleased with what he read in the newspapers...
i dont know why hes making such a big deal over the fact that lippi is the italy NT coach... its not like inter has anybody on the NT anyway...

Check out Matarazzi's tackle @ 0:27, pretty nasty, Straight red for sure if the ref hadn't been in Moratti's pocket.

What is your take on the penalty?
It seems to me like the defender touches the ball first, but it's as cheap as they come regardless.
Btw check out Matarazzi after the tackle "What? me?" :)

Amazing midweek in Serie A with the following matches:
Fiorentina - Sampdoria (Samp have a perfect record and Cassano has been a beast so far)
Genoa - Juventus (Juve have a perfect record and Genoa just got their first loss this past weekend.
Udinese - Milan (obviously...lol)
Inter - Napoli (Napoli have a really quality side and are underachieving thus far but have immense potential when everything starts clicking)
Do the other members here watch the other teams play? Or do you'll just watch the Milan games only. I try to catch Napoli games cuz they're pretty interesting to watch, as well as Sampdoria and Genoa.

i do too mystik... genoa are quite fun to watch.. fiorentina this season have been so dull and boring.. napoli are still getting used to donadoni who atm is not doing a good job with his team (they shud get roberto mancini).. samp are gonna collapse soon and go for a very long winless run i reckon.. i expect udinese to be strong this year and mayyybe lazio could be strong with more conistency... oh yea and i dont see roma qualifying for the CL this year either.

I only really watch milan matches myself, don't have time to watch other matches. Tend to catch highlights of other matches if they seem interesting as I like to see how other teams are doing.
Exciting match between Genoa and Juventus just finished 2-2 with Crespo getting a marvelous header past Buffon to give Genoa a 2-1 lead until Chiellini broke the offside trap to give an easy assist to Trezeguet. Diego did not take part in this match, neither did the man Del Piero as they are both injured (I think...)

Just read Maicon's agents comments about some Man City rumours:
"Maicon is always in the papers and on the market on a daily basis. There is always something different," the agent told 24oredisport.com.
"One day it's Real, the next it's United and more recently it has been City. The player has already said he wants to remain at Inter.
"If Real or United knock at the door then that's one thing, but City? What would Maicon do at City? Let's not joke around..."
Pretty funny imo. I do hope Inter keep him though, not that I don't hate Inter, but Serie A needs strong players, and Maicon is one of the best.

So, my two cents on this Pastore guy who's catching headlines every week. Does anyone else watch him play consistently? I'm willing to admit that this is the first full game of his I'm watching but this is what I think.
Good player, with excellent vision and is willing to make runs OFF the ball (see goal this morning against Fiorentina, excellent counterattack). However, he needs to mature and stop trying all those outrageous flicks EVERY time. I think the Zizou comparisons are already getting to his head. Also he needs to show a bit of respect to the opposing team..he's playing like it's the 90th minute but it's only the 55th minute.
Regardless I think he has great potential and Argentina should integrate him into the national team asap to ease the creative burden off Messi.

I like the ideas of Serie A...
However, I'm watching Chelsea Arsenal right now, and it's so beautiful to watch the stands just 10 feet away from the field... the fans are right on top.. I don't think this would work in Italy right now with teh fans they currently have as there would probably be violence....
Plus, I also don't want plastic fans like they have in England...or even worse (America) where I live... fans are docile machines ....
One recently ran on the field and got stun gunned and briefly paralyzed.... but we're not Fascists here, it only appears that way haha...
I hope Serie A can improve the stadiums but keep the fans!!!
to be honest, the premier league only looks better to us international viewers because the coverage is so good.
they use better camera's, better film, higher quality sound. But i guess when sky sports give them so much money, why not.
