I just picked this up yesterday, played my first game, Milan vs Inter, and I LOSE ! We are too slow in every position to keep up. I'm gonna start my manager mode and start selling and buying :-).

As for the game, it's very different from 09 and 08. I don't know why they keep changing the game this way. The characters move different, the overall game engine runs differently.

Anyone else pick 10' up ?

I have it and think its excellent. It's quite a lot more realistic than 09 and the new 360 degree player movement makes the game feel much more fluid and less mechanical. Milan are well portrayed in it with our flaws quite evident.

I heard PES 10 (coming to north america 3rd november) is the greatest soccer game ever. Before that I heard alot about FIFA 10.

Ace, do you pick Cardacio when you use Milan? :D

I've played both and in no way is PES 10 better imo. The players feel clunky and awkward and it's become more arcade thrills than simulation (very important for me). The one area where PES does look good is the versatility of the tactical engine in place, where the amount of work that can be done on individual players looking really good. The graphics have also improved a great deal and players have an impressive amount of detail.

However, pretty much every other aspect of FIFA is superior and I have no regrets of getting it ahead of PES this year. I ought to mention I'm not biased against PES, as I was always a huge fan of the series right from the start on PS1 (I don't count the original ISS games before ISS Pro Evolution Soccer) and only started preferring FIFA from last year.

I got FIFA 10 for Xbox 360, and I absolutly love it. The 360 degress controller is awesome and it's got to be a must for every football game from now on.

I played FIFA 09 and PES 2009 on PC, and I really liked especially the mouse controls of FIFA 09, but when you can move around in every direction then it really doesn't matter and this addition really is the thing that makes FIFA 10 so good, even though the plays you could make with a mouse are still pretty damn cool (Since you can control where players make runs to etc.).

OK seriously I loved PES 2009 but gamespot gave PES 2010 a bad rating (6.5/10) while FIFA 10 got a 9/10. Anyone who got both games or has played both games has an opinion on which I should by?

i have both games at the moment... fifa 10 is pretty cool and has alotta new things and is more fun if you are used to playing fifa...however you are a fan of pro-evolution then you might as well stick to pes 2010... its similar to the 2009 in terms of game play...

right now if i had to pick - i would go for the pes 2010

I have it, but on PC, I prefer playing with the keyboard as I've gotten used to it over the years. I can't make use of 360 dribbling without using a controller :sob:

If you play it right you can score many goals, play a possession game. Use through balls to target strikers in the box. Use Pato's speed to counter, Huntelaar is a very good finisher in the game. I cheated a bit by buying El Talentino (Cassano) :neww:

When i use Milan, I try to buy realistically, despite my budget being... well, tempting....

Every now and then I might sell someone and buy another star. A bit like Kaka, but I actually buy someone in return for losing my player!

I'm not sure how a sane person can say that FIFA10 is better than PES10, at least on PC :)

FIFA has many more licences, and a better manager mode. But that's about it.

Gameplay isn't even comparable. For years, FIFA has the same fault, you can find a spot (near the top of the 16m box) from which you can score EVERY time. There's no such thing in PES. Every goal is different.

I've been told that FIFA on PC and on consoles is an entirely different game. I only played it on PC, so maybe i'm wrong about PS3 & XBOX versions.

I have missed a few from the top of the 16m box. Its the most realistic football game I've played so far. The physics are highly accurate, the players size, height and weight determine many factors such as his agility, balance, strength. Also some players have better tactical awareness and vision. Pato on my 3rd season has a rating of 96 but I hardly ever play him because his tactical awareness and movement of the ball are poor, he gets easily bumped of the ball. Physical attributes of players improve quickly with matches but mental aspects such as composure, tactical awareness and vision take longer to develop, they develop with age. I prefer playing with older players and buy talented youngsters and loan them out to develop. Player physical abilities fade out after their 30s.

As is the case in reality the above formation does not work against stronger teams, so I use a different strategy with one ball winner in the center, 2 box to box players on either side of him, a pacy attacking midfielder or forward with good passing skills and vision just behind two pacy clinical finishers.

Gerrard Diarra De Rossi

Kaka
Torres Keirrison

Its pretty difficult to score against teams like inter, because they get many players back when you get the ball and crowd the box. The only way to break them is to counter attack with a pacy midfielder and deliver a inch perfect through ball to on of your speedy strikers to latch on to and take advantage of their offside trap.

The transfer system is also more realistic than the 06 one I played previously. You have a limited number of bids during transfer season. Its almost impossible to buy from rival clubs, I tried buying Santon and balloteli from Inter and got a message saying "See you at the next derby, that obviously means No!". Some clubs will not sell their players for any amount. Older players with good ratings from prestigious clubs command higher wages compared to younger players of similar rating from smaller clubs. If a player is not transfer listed, you typically have to offer at least 1.25 times their listed market value. Players can turn down lesser clubs. You have to please the club and the player.
