How about a Milan, Panathinaikos, Rangers, Bursaspor group?
Milan Valencia Spartak Auxerre <---Prediction based on nothing :D
Milan Valencia Spartak Auxerre <---Prediction based on nothing :D
Yeah, like my prediction is based on quantum mechanics :djn:
I just want Panathinaikos in the group, 90% of my friends support Pana...
I ran a random function from 1 to 8 three times, and I received: 5 2 5
Milan, Benfica, Glasgow Rangers, CFR Cluj
Very nice :D
Benfica was the victim of Grande Milano in CL final.
Rangers is where Gattuso played a years, 40 matches, 7 goals. Could you believe that? He was so prolific.
CFR Cluj is the best Romaian club, IMO, at same level as Rangers. They won Roma away 2-1 and draw Chelsea 0-0 in 2009.
Milan, Panathinaikos, Rangers, Bursaspor
Ok. :D
milan Valencia Spartak Auxerre
Ok. :D
milan, Benfica, Glasgow Rangers, Cfr Cluj
Ok. :D
So far
Milan

Ajax

It the group of death. We go the best team from 2nd seeded team - madrid and Ajax one of the best from 3rd seeded group.
And Inter clean sweep all the best keeper , best defender , best midfield and best stricker

Is the most difficult .... try to qualify or milan can even finish last !!!!!!!!!!!
That is one tough group and I suspect Madrid with Mourinho will be a much different team than last time :(

Yeah... All teams drawn by Inter players. Pretty obvious. Anyway, not the perfect draw but we did well against Real Madrid last season and we should be better than both Ajax and Auxerre. If not, why would we be there? :)
Forza Milan!

We can beat all 3 ... just hoping ibra comes in :3band:
gr8 draw:
now Ibra wants to come even more to beat Mourinho
and Van der Vart would love to come to beat Real....
i'm getting greedy...and we haven't signed 1 yet...
It looks like a tough group when you look at it.
But I have seen Ajax 3 times this year (saw both of their CL qualification games against Kiev) and they don't look that good. Nothing for us to wary about if we play the way we can. We should be able to beat Ajax both home and away without too much trouble. Juventus knocked them out of the Europe League last year quite easily, and they haven't changed much since then. I just didn't see anything to warry about from them in the 3 games that I've seen (and by the way....maybe Van Der Wiel will have a couple of great games against us too, so maybe our management will decide to buy him next summer :D)
About Auxerre, I also saw their first game against Zenit last week and they didn't look good. Just a solid team, but nothing that should pose us big problems. As a matter of fact they were a little fortunate to make it through Zenit as they looked like the second best for the longer period of that game and Zenit could have won the game by a bigger margain. I also saw extended highlights of their return game yesterday and even though they won 2-0, they were lucky again as Zenit played with 9 men.....and even though with 2 players less Zenit still managed to create some dangerous chances.
So, no matter what happens against Madrid.....we are a much much better team then both Ajax and Auxerre. It looks like a tough group, but we should be getting out of it.
F*CK!
the draw is awful!!
it can destroy all our schedule..
we have 6 tough matches!
its hard to do well sunday-wen/day-sunday against not easy opponents
6 times like that!
and its really important to finish first so as to avoid a 16 tough again..

Guys, I am hearing from other places that the draw for this year is a bit different.
Group G has been coupled with Group D they say,
Meaning that the winning of our group will face the second place of group D, winner of group D faces second of our group.
Group D: Arsenal, Shakhtar, Braga, Patrizan.
can anyone confirm this?

Think about the confidence we gain by beating these teams! Playing games when we're winning against good teams is just a pleasure.
:rone:
He probably wont even play. When is he supposed to be back from his injury??
Regardless, even if he plays he is the one we should be least worried about. He simply isn't the player he used to be a few years ago and these injuries are hampering his career more and more by the day. And with the players Real signed (Ozil, Leon, Di Maria, Canales) he isn't guaranteed a starting position. It seems to me that Kaka's career is taking the "Shevchenko path".
Having said that, Real has more then enough great players to worry us. And even though their defense hasn't been truly reinforced with players, it has been reinforced with Mourinho. He will ensure that the midfield protects the back line and will make sure that the team is not spread out everywhere thinking about attacking. He will keep things tight all over the field with will overall improve the "team defense".
wow. that was ****ed... when's the madrid game, lets get a group together and go!
I don't mind the tough group.
Let's not forget we always play better against big opponents in CL during the group matches. Its teams like Lille or Zurich that are causing us problems most of the times.

Don't know why you guys are saying this is a tough group, as beside Real, the other team are not at Milan level.
But thats a long way to go, as teams will experience through injuries, forms and other factors.
I'd rather play against Madrid now than on the knock-out stages. Mourinho is a master when it comes to this phase.
We can already see the die another day attitude he instills into everyteam he coaches from their friendlies. But I think they're not playing quite as a single unit yet.
i agree with Nalx;better now than in the group stages. Having said that, i don't see us winning the group or qualifying easily.

Well, not really.
We'll have to be careful in Auxerre, but that's it, by being just careful, we should win (the problem will be if we come there by thinking we will win easily). This team will park the bus and hope for counters. Their only thrat is Pedretti, their midfielder who has a role like Pirlo for us. He's their leader, and when he is in fire, he can be amazing, so dangerous for us. But around him, there is no big player, nobody scaring me. In Milan, this game should be and will have to be a formality.
That means potentially 4 or 6 points against Auxerre, something I'm not sure Ajax will do.
Against Ajax, their main player is Suarez, so if we manage to block him, there's nobody around to be a real threat for us.
So, we will have difficult games (like each year in CL of course), but compared to last year, I think we should manage to qualify before the last game of the schedule. Madrid and us should fight for the 1st place.
Oh, and UEFA wants a Germany-Italy opposition ?
A: Inter, Werder, Tottenham, Twente
Inter vs Werder ... Actually, it's not an easy group for Inter, they could be in trouble because Werder can play like if they are the best team in the world in a good day, and Tottenham should be a good team (no experience though).
E: Bayern, Roma, Bale, Cluj
Roma vs Bayern ... If Roma starts the season like they ended the last one, I think they could manage to beat Bayern (I never was impressed by them, IMO, they had a lucky draw/result last season in CL).
And I'm starting to think Arsenal must pay to have easy groups !! Each season, they are in the easiest group of CL, and this year, they are again in the easiest one: Arsenal, Donetsk, Braga, Belgrade. Seriously, there's something wrong, it's not possible to be "helped" this way, I can't remember the last time Arsenal had to play against a big team in the group stage.

we're always in the group of death, nothing new and we should approach it with a view to winning the group as always.
Inter have a tough group too, though I expect they will win it. Roma's only real threat is Bayern, the others are beatable.

Here is Milan's roster list for the Champions League:
http://www.milannews.it/?action=read&idnotizia=33409
I'm curious as to why Pato and Strasser are on List B. Obviously neither of these guys were left off the champions league roster but can anyone explain to me the difference between the A list and the B list?
I'm going to post this on another thread as well in search of an answer. Thanks

Now is probably the best time to play Bayern as Robben is out for two months or so and Ribery is too busy with his court case. Looking for Borri to score
You have to be under 21 to qualify for the B list. Pato turns 21 tomorrow. By including him on the B list it means that Milan were able to add an extra player to the CL squad.
It doesn't reflect Allegri's thinking on who should start. It just means that Oddo or Jankulovski are able to tag along for the holidays.

And 3 years spent in the club.
I'll try to find again the post I made explaining all that in the summer mercato thread I think ...

our biggest threat now in the group is ourselves, we still need to play the games for 90 minutes and take the opponent seriously.
Auxerre will come to park the bus in Milan in our first game ...
The only problem I see with that is it will only be our 3rd official game of the season when Auxerre will already have played 5 times before this game !!
Added the group stage fixtures to the first post of this thread

shame we didnt get Mexes he would have liked to go back to Auxerre i'm sure!
38500 subscriptions so far for CL !!
Last year, only 22100 subscriptions were sold for CL ...
Since Robinho and Ibra signed, each day, the club sells an average 5000 subscriptions a day.
There is a real enthusiasm around Milan nowadays !! :)

Good that they will park the bus in Milan, as Ibra the bus driver will bring them to school. hahhahahaha

that's a good one. :rock3::rock3:
More than 50000 subscriptions for CL !!
We'll probably have a full or almost full stadium at all games !! We're going to eat our opponents in CL at San Siro this season !! :)

That means I wont be able to get the ticket if I decide to go and see one CL game this year, haha. Stop buying year-tickets people of Milano!! :swars:
I think the first game of the season (the win against Lecce) also had a big impact on the subscriptions. With the football that we played and the scoreline + the additions of Ibra and Robinho people have been going crazy with the yearly subscriptions.
Which is exactly why I think that if we put on another performance of the same kind against Cesena....people will go even crazier with the season subscriptions.
