Hey and this is my comment from the above:
Of course he does. In fact it was very difficult to find another player who had realistic chances of beating the Ukrainian to the highly coveted award. The only one who had any chances of rivaling Shevchenko was Ronaldinho who possesses a mountain of talent but had one big disadvantage - as of now he has not won anything in his European adventures with PSG and Barca. Deco and Henry were also very strong candidates however, although they have won quite a lot recently - especially Deco, they do not have the quality and genuine leadership abilities of their rivals. Deco is often anonymous in the big games when a true leader needs to step up while Henry and his Arsenal are at best average as far as success in the UEFA CL is concerned - they are magnificient against small teams in England but crumble in front of other European teams that are not even the creame della creame of Europe. This is not how you win a Golden Ball so Wenger should think more carefully when he says something preposterous such as "It would be a scandal if Henry didn’t get the Golden Ball." Shevchenko, on the other hand, was the only one of the top 3-4 who could be described as consistent over a long period of time both in the home league and the UEFA CL competition.

I am slo glad to see that so many people have said that Sheva desrves the golden ball award. Of course there were those who said that Henry deserved it more. The funny thing is that Henry got more votes by these fans than Ronaldinho.
