Thanks Gio and Franco. I asked this question because my Father and his friend saw an interesting thing happen at a few Milan games in Japan for the Coppa Intercontinentale. Let me explain:
Two times they attended the match (1993 & 1994) and at the hotel they noticed a person who was always with the team and even wore the official team suit. They thought he was one of many personnel who travel with the team (example: Gandini, etc). However, during the game they saw the same guy in the stands with the scarf, flags, etc. yelling into a megaphone and leading the songs, etc. So maybe once upon a time the team had people in the stands to lead the 'chants'...keep the peace...start the choreography, etc??
