True but they are the best statement of intent.
I actually kind of disagree that they don't mean much. They are not all binding but they show commitment from a player. Henry, Gerrard are just two examples that spring to mind.
Rumour is Pirlo wanted an improved contract (5-6 mill euros a year)...seems like Milan have met his wishes. Great news IMO.
