VDV is a good player in my books, and a welcome addition as he can play all positions in the middle plus up front. Robinho, has all the qualities of a great winger, and watching him at the World Cup impressed me a lot more than watching him with Citeh. I would him take in a flash, considering that City have little choice but to offload him (they have too many players, he doesn't want to go back to them, etc., etc.). We will have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks though, before Robinho's value goes down to a reasonable level (once they get desperate to offload). Neither are THAT old, and could probably work to rejuvenate our squad to no end.
That said, I must say that I have been plenty impressed with the youngsters that Allegri has been putting out for us.
Merkel has good technical skill, and positioning, though he really needs to train up on the physical side (kept getting the ball taken off of him).
Verdi as a second striker reminds me of G. Rossi, albiet younger and in need of experience.
Beretta and Oduamadi have both shown what it would be to put some youth in the midfield, in the last two friendlies, It actually felt like we were competitive again, even though we are far behind in our preparations compared to our opponents. The only one I think failed to impress me so far was Strasser, who in my opinion did very little on the ball and off the ball to contribute to our games.
The youngsters won't last all season, and don't have the experience in the big games, but I would love to see them get a run out against teams like Brescia, Lecce and Cesena or in the second half of tight games where we need to change the pace. The only thing I wonder is.... where did De Vito go? He impressed last season in those cup matches, I really want to see him in action again.

I agree about Kaka. Don't get me wrong, i still believe he is an extraordinary player, even now that he plays for Real but i find it extremely difficult for him to surpass his rossoneri seasons in the future. I think we agree that in modern football a world-class footballer is hard to be on top of his game for more than 6 or 7 seasons and there are many reasons for that.
Take Ronaldinho for example: few years ago he was king of the football castle. Now we are discussing whether we should replace him or not. Players like Maldini were the last of the mohicans. Kaka arguably helped Milan a lot, it really hurt to see him go but i am not sure i want him back now.
Now, VdV AND Robinho? Boy, that would be a dream. But i dont think it's gonna happen.
To be sincere i have no judgement to make about our youngsters, not having watched them play for more than one game maybe each.
Lets hope Allegri will find a way to turn them into players that can seriously help our squad during the next season-s and by that, i dont mean to see them playing the last 10 minutes in an early Coppa game.
