Berbagai tindakan korporasi (corporate action) seperti ekspansi, merger dan akuisisi, divestasi, spin-off, cross selling dan transaksi bersifat material lainnya, banyak dilakukan terutama oleh emiten di pasar modal. Untuk kepentingan investro publik atau pemegang saham minoritas, semua tindakan korporasi harus didukung oleh penilaian khusus (specific purpose valuation) oleh pihak independen.
