Milan needs a new transfer policy

When I talk about the transfer policy of Milan, I meant the family environment Milan always try to create for the players. I always felt that it was a great policy to have. With Shevchenko leaving, however, I felt a change is needed here. Modern day players are nothing but a bunch of greedy bastards who only cares about money and nothing else! Shevchenko was treated like a king in Milan, and even he said that Milan treated him as well as possible. Even with that kind of treatment, we still could not prevent our best players from signing with a club who offered him more money. On top of that, the 24 year old Kaka declared that he is interested in signing with Real Madrid because "Milan is not a winning team any more". And I suppose Real Madrid has been winning for the past three years, right? I just don't think Milan should treat its players like family any more. We all know they don't care about the way they are treated so long as they have more money. The family treatment should only be used to players who have true loyalties to our team, players such as Maldini, Ambrosini and Gattuso. As for players who do not commit to our team, sell them whenever we find a replacement! Shevchenko is already gone, and if we can sign a good enough replacement, let Kaka go too! You are either a Milan or you are not, and if you are not, you don't deserve to be loved by the Milan fans!

So ur saying, u want to have a team that has to play for us for the rest of careers? What if players like Ronaldinho want to come to Milan but just for 2 or 3 seasons, say no to him?

and what you said about kaka saying that Milan is not a winning time is pure BS.. i dunno where u got it from, buts its pure BS. Funny how you say Gattuso has true loyalty, less than a year ago he was looking for a transfer to England, and for the past few years he has been saying he wanted to finish his career there. He also started his career in Rangers. Whats different between him and Sheva?

No, I disagree. We should retain the family environment. After all, that's what makes us special, that's what sets us a class apart from other football clubs. What we should do, is exactly what Galliani is now doing. And that is to change club policy to prevent "unhappy" players from leaving before their contracts expire. I mean if they have genuine reason to leave, i.e. Stam or Rui Costa, then by all means they should be allowed to leave. But, if they want to leave "for family reasons" or to join another club, then we should make it clear that they have to respect their contract until we are happy with the terms of transfer.

I am not talking about we should only sign players who play out their careers with us. My problem with those players are that they talk about their loyalty to our team and then turn around to accept a better offer. If a guy comes in and say "I am only going to be here for a couple of years." That's fine. But if a guy talks about "I am a Milan player for life." like Shevchenko did, and then turn around to accept a bigger paycheck from Chelsea, does he really deserve the family treatment from us? As for the part about Kaka, the story was reported on tribalfootball.com, unforunately, they redesigned their entire web site and deleted all articles before yesterday. If you do not believe in the story, run a search on yahoo or google, you will see what I am talking about.
Our transfer policy needs adjustments. At least, when we have a player under contract, we should have the right to force them to stay with us even if they do not want to. Why else would we sign them to contracts to begin with? The family environment is a good concept, but it no longer works on the greedy players of today's sports world.

I don't agree with some Slifersd remarks, but I guess he has a point: nowadays you really cannot hang on the loyalty of almost anyone regarding business affairs, specially when you are talking about BIG business like football.

Exactly. That's why we shouldn't be surprised that Sheva wants to leave.

i disagree aswell ... the reason players would love to play for us is because we have this kind of environment, besides the history and the greatness of the club, and this policy has helped us buy alot of excellent players and win alot of trophies, just because shevchenko has left doesnt mean the policy has to change, maybe its not money he is after, actually im pretty sure it is not because we could offer him the same contract, im sure we have a loyal team, if a player is sold it doesnt mean he is loyal, he is not really forced to live his life in a team just because he acheived a god like status, what if he is unhappy here anymore, does he have to live through it?

i like our policy, infact i love it, it makes us different from other teams, thats why you dont see alot of players wanting to leave us, thats why besides sheva when a bullcrap rumour about a player of ours is linked with another club the club quickly denies it and the players feel at ease here...

having this kind of environment is as positive as it can get, any change to this policy can only be negative and why would you want that?

I think I have caused a bit of misunderstanding here, and I am sorry about that. I never meant that we should give up the policy completely. I simply meant that we should rule the players with a bit more of an iron fist than right now. We should have the right to hang on to our best players when we have them under contract instead of letting them do whatever they want to do. Some of you guys talk about players being unhappy with their situation and might want to leave. Well, for those players, all I can say is what the heck were you thinking when you signed your contract? You have no problem pleading your loyalties to our team when we give you a pay raise and an extension, but you do have a problem with us when someone else offers a better contract? Shevchenko's case does not reflect every single player in our team, but it certainly rings a bell for us. Are we really going to give our players so much freedom to an extend that they can walk all over us without respecting their contract and commitment? Loyalties aside, a contract is to be respected and we should enforce that.

well its not good for the team to have a player stay at a club against his will... i think the best option is to have him sold but for a price that comes on our terms, like sheva for 50M + gallas ... not a pathetic 30M if the reports are true
