Fiorentina - AC Milan (pre-game comments)

Extremelly tricky match. Not only it is a tricky rival, but also the fact that we come from playing a hard fought and tiring CL match, and the fact that we have another one just days after this match are all factors that make of this match a very difficult one. In the meantime Juve play Bologna at home....

I don't think we will see much rotation...other than replacing those suspended of course (San Paolo, Kaladze and Ambrosini), so we should see a defense composed by Cafu, Nesta, Stam and Sergio or Pancaro, a midfield with Rui, Rino, Kaka and Seedorf, and an attacking like with Sheva and either JDT or Crespo (I think Crespo will get the nod).

Hard match, but we are Milan, so I certainly hope for 3 extremelly precious points

This is the biggest serie a game for us this season. If manage to beat fiorentina on saturday then we have a chance to go 3 points clear after 08.05! this should be lineup for the game. Dida, cafu, nesta, sta, serginho, pirlo ( if he is ready and feeling well) or rui , seedorf, rino, kaka, sheva, crespo ( aldough im really dissapointed with his performance against psv ). Maybe pippo can get in later on. We are really tired but we just have to do it! Havent won in there for 10 years....its about time! If we do that I believe we almost have the scudetto.

I hate this, We have to play on saturday and they play a day after us. So this leaves them with the benifit of knowing our score (hence they either win at all cost or relax a bit). Do you guys know when the league games be played all together at the same time?

Very difficult match.

Fiorentina wants some points, because they wanna remain in the serie A. I see a very close match. I hope for the Milan to be successful.

As expressed in the PSV game thread, I think as important a match as this is, we will need to rest some of our key players for the return leg in Holland.

We may have crushed the Viola in Milan, but at home they are a very tricky proposition. Also, they will be gunning for revenge of the 6 goal thrashing they received in the San Siro...not a happy prospect indeed...and though I am not suggesting that dirty play may ensue, I am not ruling it out...and it would be a severe blow for us if any of our key attackers picked up a knock ruling him out of the 2nd leg of the semi final, or against the Zebra´s at home the following Serie A match day.

Because I know Carlo comes to this site to frequently view our suggestions for his starting line up, I will propose the following players and formation:

Christmas Tree:

Dida in goal

Pancaro---Nesta---Stam---Kaladze (Stam to be replaced by Maldini in the 2nd half)

Ambro----Brocci----Serghino (Ambro or Serghino to be replaced by Gattuso or Dhorasso in the 2nd half)

---Rui---Kaka---(Kaka to be replaced by Dhorasso in the 2nd half)

---Crespo---(Cresp to be relieved by JDT in the 2nd half)

The replacements as indicated would only be used if we are leading by a 2 goal margin, and the players to be subbed are obviously tiring...

Ok Carlo, now run with this.......if you want to of course........

I wont elaborate on the obvious that we only have 3 changes, and that Dhorasso cannot play in two positions at once

FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILAN!!!

warro bantan ur lineup IMO totally underestimates the opposition because this match is just as important as the next psv match and besides kaladze, ambro are both suspended from the match

i think we should play this formation:

--------------------------------------dida----------------------------------------

---------cafu------------nesta-----------------stam--------------serginho--------

---------------------------------pirlo---------------------------------------------
---------------gattuso------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------seedorf---------------------
------------------------------kaka-----------------------------------------------

---------------shevchenko--------------------JDT--------------------------------

hmmm

23/4 Milan 3-0 Parma
26/4 Milan 2-0 PSV
30/4 Fio-Milan
4/5 PSV-Milan
8/5 Milan- Juve

i mean, OH MY GOD, just take a look at our schedule! for every single one of those matches, we will need our full starting lineup! I think, IMO, unfortunately, we will have to sacrifice one competition, because if we conitnue to field the best lineup for both competitions, we will end up with winning nothing.. I just hope Carlo can find the excellent mix of substitutes and starters to play in Serie A instead of playing a full starter team or a full substitute team..

this next 2 weeks will be extremely tough, i just hope none of our players get injured, or hell, not get frustrated in the PSV game to get sent off to miss the final !

Damn, i'll repeat again, these 2 weeks are gonna be really really hard..

IMO, this is what i would do for fiorentina game:
Cafu shouldn't play at all, ofcourse he is extremely good, but he might get tired, we will certainly need him for the PSV clash.. it could be good to use him in the fiorentina game for the last 15 minutes if we arent winning by then..
Stam should start, Nesta should start as well to get his legs running for the PSV clash. Maldini, i dont know, maybe its better for him to play.
Dhorasoo must must must be given a shot this time.. he is a really good player, we need to get him fit for the final run to the season.. we really need a good substitute, and he really is probably the best substitute we have after Rui.. he will be crucial.. I hope he plays instead of Seedorf on the left..
Pirlo must play, he isnt match fit yet, he needs more minutes in his legs to find his top form..
Gattuso doesnt get tired, thats a + for us, but i certainly wouldnt mind resting him, Dhorasoo IMO is more useful than he is.. Dhorasoo can be defensive, but is also very skillful and a play-maker.. he can start Dhorasoo in Gattuso's place, and instead have Serginho in Seedorf's place..
Kaka needs to play, as he said last week, he is now in a new training program that will make him find the form that he was in last year..and just look how he performed vs. PSV, it was a huge improvement compared to the rest of the games he played this season.. i think Kaka should play, but i really think Rui Costa will be far more useful than he will.. Maybe they should both play.. the Christmas tree formation might be used today, if we play possesion football, we can save energy more..
Tomasson should play as he also is finding his top form, and has scored in the last 2 games.. I also think Pippo should come on late in the game.
Crespo, i dont know..
Sheva.. he should come on late as a sub only if we are losing, if not, keep him ready for the PSV clash..

We also need to watch out for injuries.. damn, we also havent won in Florence in 10 years!.. but there's nothing to worry about, as this Milan side has broken all the records!

EDIT:: I just rememberd, Ambro, Maldini, and Kaladze are suspended.. maybe Pancaro will be given the green-light for the left-back position today..

hitman i think ur worrying too much... u can just replace the whole squad just like that... but ur right we need to be very effiicient, having dhorasso back would be really great but i think we should go for this formation vs fiorentina... the psv clash is easier i think since we should look to not concede any goals on the contrary to the fiorentina match.

vs fiorentina:

--------------------------------------dida----------------------------------------

-----cafu-------------nesta---------------------stam-------------serginho--------

-------------------------------------pirlo-----------------------------------------
----------------ambrosini---------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------seedorf----------------
-----------------------------------kaka-------------------------------------------

-----------------------shevchenko------------JDT---------------------------------

where dhorasso should get some playing time as well as crespo and costacurta hopefully

vs psv (we should look to concede no goals and play the counter attack which we perfected this season even without sheva):

---------------------------------------dida---------------------------------------

--------costacurta-----------nesta--------------maldini--------------kaladze------

--------------------------------pirlo/ambrosini------------------------------------
---------gattuso-----------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------seedorf/dhorasso-----------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------serginho-----------
-----------------------------kaka------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------shevchenko--------------------------------

with crespo coming on either to rest sheva or to partner him if we need to score goals, cafu to come on if park is exhausting costacurta or if we need some fast attacks, stam to help back in defence if theyre pressuring is very threatening

I'd bet you that both your formations will not happen

Ambro is suspended for Fiorentina game, and Cafu would be rested for the Fiorentina game. Carlo always rests Cafu for some reason.

If we play with Costacurta instead of Cafu in the PSV semi-final we are dead. We will simply be inviting them to pressure us all game. We need cafu to give us speed for counter-attackers. Also we need him to shut down their wings more. I really dont think PSV will be pressuring us more than the San Siro game. Carlotti is smart.

and man, are you serious? Kaladze again? Did you see how bad he played last game? AND WITHOUT STAM? Are you serious? and Serginho instead of Rui? Dude.........

Hey my dear buddy
If you keep saying that one player played bad just for sick for one game and dropped him for the rest of the year, then no one is going to make it through the year.

I realize that you are a die-hard Milan fan. So do I, and the rest of the people here (I assume). Does a player's poor performance solely his fault, or because of some other factors? It would be great if we can take other things into consideration except for looking at paper's rating.

On the other hand, don't you realize that Cafu's running on the right has caused us trouble at the back because he is always running? NOt that this is not a good thing, but there are a few chances PSV got simply because Cafu is busy on the right and forgot his defensive role. I'm not criticizing him here, but these are the things you may have not noticed. Another Cafu's fault, (if you want to know) is the scare we got around 10minutes when the ball SEEMED to slip through Stam but REALLY it's because Cafu who failed to create the offside trap...

A tricky match indeed. I remember Fiorentina gave Juve a ride some weeks ago, and with players like Bojinov, Jorgensen and Miccoli they definately have the players to make life hard for us.

I expect following lineup:

Dida - Costacurta, Nesta, Stam, Serginho - Gattuso, Rui Costa, Seedorf - Kaka - Shevchenko, Tomasson.

I think that Pirlo, Crespo and Cafu will be given a rest. Pirlo was clearly not match fit against PSV. This is an all important match, we will have to be equal with points when we have Juventus next week...

Hey why are u so critical of Kala?? Every player has their bad days and u shouldnt play him down just bcoz of 1 game. As a true milan fan, i hope you do realise that most (if not all) forumnites here were made to eat their words everytime they criticise a player's performance just based on 1 match. So be4 u join them, please think of how Kala had contributed to Milan and it is def not a 1 off thing.

It is better to play on a sat so that Milan will have a day extra to recuperate for the Champions league. It doesnt matter whether Juve knows Milan's result or not because ultimately, if our result by any way can have any effect on Juve, it will def be Milan's advantage as either they will be complacent and lose or will work harder on their zebra a s s to get a result (tires them out).
