He was one of our better players on the pitch until he was sent off with that challenge on Sissoko, which was completely uncalled for. I do not mean to crucify him for what he has done, but seriously, WHAT WAS HE THINKING???

he was thinking about taking the ball and making some sort of a short counter attack...?

i'm not saying that the tackle wasnt horrible, infact it was, and lucky for him that Sissoko didnt break his leg...

although Bonera got sent off because of that tackle, i still respect him for his performances vs Cagliari and vs Juve...

He did well, I would even say that he played greatly until this madness moment ...
This defeat can be given to him.

But with what he showed, I hope he'll get another chance to play like a starter, and if possible, like a CB with Nesta for example, not RB (it may be also because of that he did this terrible foul, normally, he's a CB, he's never in this position).

I think his intent was to get the ball (in a high intensity match) or at most foul Sissoko to prevent a counter, though I do think it was the former. He was off balance and simply seemed to dive for the ball in hope we could maintain our momentum, unfortunately it ended in a reckless and dangerous foul.

I think his lack of arguing over the red card, his apology and visiting Sissoko show he's sorry. He'll get his punishment, we have to accept it (as does he) and move on.

I think he can certainly be our No. 1 CB by next year. But I am not sure why does he have these moments. Last against Anderlecht he got dismissed for stupid error. He needs to pick himself up otherwise we might lose a great talent.

Most of our defenders are a lot more inconsistent than Bonera, and not only in terms of tackles...
I would even say that Bonera is the most consistent of them all

Hopefully now that he got this out of the way, and reflecting on it and how bad an uncalled for the challenge was, he has it out of his system. He isn't all that experienced is he? This is just another learning experience.

Yup, bad challenge, no question about it. But it's good to have a little bit of grit and aggression in the team. We have been too "soft" at times and it has cost us. Although no excuses for Bonera, he was clearly over the line.

I still believe in him and I still believe that he'll be the next leader in our defence...
