Milan duo fight for Rodriguez

From Channel4.com:
------------------------------------------------------------

Milan and Inter are reportedly interested in Maxi Rodriguez of Atletico Madrid – even if he seems intent of remaining in Spain.

The paths of the two Milan sides have often crossed during this summer’s transfer market after the Nerazzurri won the duel to net Hernan Crespo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Rodriguez now seems to be a target for both teams again who would certainly like the Argentine international at their disposal this term.

The Atletico Madrid ace, who easily adapts to playing as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has however expressed his intention to remain at his present club under boss Javier Aguirre.

The Spanish club have confirmed contact with both Italian sides, but consider the No 11 as untransferable and may offer Rodriguez, who is currently signed until 2008, an extension.

The 25-year-old, who also has an Italian passport, is more than content in Madrid and is optimistic that his side can fight for the Liga title.

The South American grew up in the Newell’s Old Boys youth team and moved to Spain in 2002 when Espanol made a successful bid for his services.

He netted 15 times during his third campaign in the Liga and then moved to Atletico Madrid in 2005 for £8.5m.

Rodriguez made his debut with Argentina in 2003 after winning the Under-20 World Cup in 2001.

He was also part of Jose Pekerman’s squad at the 2006 World Cup where he scored three goals before their quarter-final defeat to Germany.
-------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not a big fan, but lets see what you guys think.

What do you mean behaviour Josh-Sheva ?

Maxi would be a good signing and would improve the squad. But it looks like he will stay at Atletico, he doesn't seem to want to move.

Certainly it would be a fantastic addition, he's just the kind of multifunctional midfielder I want, but I don't see our board displaying the necessary ambition to land him.

Well, we don't play with wingers and for AM we have Kakà and Gourcuff so I feel that money could be better spent elsewhere.

However, he is impressive and little sister can not have him!

Is it just me, or Inter realised that their transfer policy in the past sucked, so the they decided this year to copy our transfer format, I feel sorry for them

I keep seeing this in article after article and it really irks me. Milan did not make a bid on either player. Galliani himself said so. Yet the whole world thinks that Inter outdid Milan in the "race" to sign these players because the media keeps repeating it.

Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Anyway, I'd love to have Maxi Rodriguez at Milan. Helluva player.

I`m not so sure but I think that we did make a bid for Ibra even before Inter, its interesting that their first offer was rejected, afterwards they matched our bid and it was accepted by Moratti, and the thing is that he offered 4.5 mil euro to Ibra, and our board offered 3.5 mil euro to him. I dont know how true is this, but I remember reading it somwhere. And if its true I`m glad that we didnt get a player to whom 1 mil euro makes a huge difference. That tells a lot about his personality.

Maxi would be a great addition. Can play on either side of midfield and will give us much needed width and speed. Who knows, maybe Carlo can even convert him to an attacking right back.

Oh well, wishful thinking again. I'm just amazed that while every other club is strengthening themselves, we seem to be sitting back and chilling out. We're either being extremely overconfident about our squad or we're extremely smart and will pull some amazing transfers (for amazing prices, i might add) right at the end of the month. I sure hope it's the latter.

It's most definitely going to be the latter considering that our coach and management have noted that the team DOES need reinforcement.

I sure hope so Mystik. We will find out soon enough. Only about two weeks left til the end of August....Let's hope we have some signings already PLANNED OUT, otherwise things might not be so easy.

I mean behaviour as he punched Schweini in the back of his head from bad remarks...
