@ nefremo...

i went to watch that incident again & many times... and while it is true that Seedorf made a brilliant pass to Oliveira who could have gone for goal... but Oliveira passed the ball to Gilardino... and now it seems you are unfair to Oliveira & blamin' him...

but as things stand... i don't wish to carry on any more discussions about Gilardino today... with you or rahul.acm... because it is wastin' my time & yours... i'm sure you have more important things to do... as do i...

Are you kidding me? 8-9 weeks???? Is it OK that Gila is not scoring like from the middle of the previous season, and playing just sh*t for that long???? It must be a joke! No goals in Seria A, no goals in CL for a lot more than 8-9 weeks!

RAHUL

You say the press and fans have targeted POOR GILA as a blaming object. Why is that? For no reason? Nothing happens with no reason.
If we sell him and he starts scoring for another team (which I doubt very much) - good for him...meaning that Milan was not his team and he wasnt our player.
And stop giving him more time... I personally do not have any faith in him, and honestly he doesnt deserve any faith.

You should go watch it again, and you will see that Oliveira shot the ball and the ball came off the keeper. You can see it the best in live mode as the replay showes it from Seedorf's view and you can't really see clearly what Oliveira does. (I am talking about the highlights here at the multimedia section)

No...I am not blaming Oliveira for shooting and missing and I never said that I blame him. So now you are the one making assumptions. All I said is that you are unfair at blaming Gila for missing but not Oliveira when Oliveira missed a great opportunity just a second before Gila did. I have nothing against Oliveiras effort.

You are right however....lets call it a day.

Oliveira deserves to be given some more time. Dont you think? Gila have got so much time, before he have started being judged...even now many people defend him. So its an unfair comparison. Why RO got only 8 weeks from you...in which he almost never started the game. Gila have been given a place in the first team immidiately, unlike RO.
But peace, anyway

I think RO has a fair bit of play really. In fact, i think the 3 of them have shared the responsibility well. I'm pretty confident that Gila will be on the bench for the game against Inter, and feature in CL.

I dont know about Egoistka and zZz, but I am not angry at Gila and want him to be dropped just for his lack for form, but actually ever since he arrived here I was never happy with what he contributed on the pitch. He did score 19 goals in Serie A last season and that is good whatsoever, but if you ask me really if he actually was of any use to the team I would say no. The only reason he got that many goals was because we had an unbelievable team with the best goalscoring record in the world in club football last year, that is the only reason why Gila got that much.

Right now there is no Sheva to take a few defenders away from Gila, there is no Sheva to assist, so the pressure is on Gila to perform, and as usual he crumbles under pressure. Im not blaming Oliveira for not being as good as Sheva, but im blaming Gila for not being able to do anything on himself. I just dont think he has what it takes to perform at Milan, its a psycholigical issue. As I said before and keep saying, I will give my final opinion on Gila by January. That is MORE than enough time to prove all his doubters wrong and if he doesnt, im afraid I will be the one leading the campaign every transfer window for him to be sold.

I'm getting pretty tired of all the anti-Gila statements here. Quite frankly, first and foremost, the guy doesn't deserve to hung over yesterday's performance, he did well, often contributing to the attacking build up. Yes, he missed a stunning opportunity, but considering how much pressure has been placed on him and the obvious lack of confidence he has, I don't really blame him. Borriello also missed chances about as easy, but I never saw any real complaints about him.

Fact is, Gila has a goalscoring record that not many have matched, and is young and contributes a lot to the team play, considering his position. In fact, from the statistics I've seen, he had the greatest number of assists last season of anyone (I think inlcuding penalties won).

Also, let's take a look at his record domestically, as in the last few seasons where he has established himself as a capable striker, he has a goalscoring record of just under a goal a game (his average throughout is career is roughly 1 every 2 games). So lets compare that to Pippo, who's a proven goalscorer, who throughout his career has managed goals on average something like a goal every 2-3 games domestically.

In Europe so far Gila hasn't managed to score, but bear in mind that last season was his first proper debut of playing outside of Italy. Pippo in this field does have a better record, as he started performing in Europe immediately. When you factor in Europe then Both Gila and Pippo have around an average of about 1 goal in every 2 games overall. To be precise, Pippo actually has a slightly better average, but the fact is we're talking about Gila who is pretty much matching a player who is argubly the greatest goalscorer of his generation. When you consider how much Gila provides for the team compared to Pippo, his overall contribution is actually greater than Pippo's.

Finally, Gila in the last 3 seasons has scored over 20 goals twice and 17 in Serie A last year. Pippo on the other hand, in Serie A, has only ever scored 20+ goals once in his career, and has only ever manged 17+ goals 3 times in his career.

Now this season, from day 1 in Serie A (I won't count CL qualifiers as Gila wasn't really available), Gila has scored 0 goals, Pippo has scored 2 (1 Serie A and 1 CL), Oliveira has scored 1 and Borriello has scored 0. Fact is, Gila isn't the only one underperforming for us when it comes to strikers scoring. However, for inexplicable reasons, he has the greatest criticisms against him.

There's one aspect about Gila which I have noticed is necessary for him to play at his best, and that is he must be the focal point of the attack, the target man so to speak. Since he joined, Shevchenko was the previous focal point (though due to his versatility though Gila had room to make a mark) and now Pippo is the focal point, which means Gila has to try and play more for others, a role that isn't really his natural position.

Quite frankly, at Parma before he was able to make his mark, I wrote off Gila. Not only did he make me eat my words, he has gained my support as he has proven himself to be a very good player who has a lot to offer. His statistics are almost matching up to Pippo's and in many ways, he has a lot more to offer than Pippo, who is undoubtably one of the best forwards of his generation, and argubly the best pure goalscorer of his generation.

So, Gila obviously has a good enough record to warrant a starting place. His performances haven't been great, but there are numerous reasons for that (playing unnatural roles for him and a clear lack of confidence, something ALL strikers go through at some point are just 2 examples). Maybe he should be dropped, but for who? It's not like any of our other strikers are doing particularly better, and personally I feel more confident that once Gila gets a goal, he will continue to really start shining than any other striker.

agree 100%
I rue the day he played so well against us when at Parma because that was all the 'evidence' our mamagement seemed to need to buy him
The guy is CRAP! While at Parma he wa Adriano's sub. His record tallies at Parma were also due to the fact that he took their Penalty kicks as well. He isn't that good, and that's the plain fact.

The guy has not scored A SINGLE GOAL FOR US IN EUROPE!!! NOT EVEN AGAINST MINNOWS NOT EVEN IN DRUBBINGS/ BLOWOUTS!!!

Does anyone thing that the coach at PArma was crazy for putting a younger less experienced Adriano ahead of him? NO! Adriano was miles ahead of Gila and he isn't even that great!

Finally its hard to score without Sheva, but Pippo has done his best so far and he's 33. What is Gila's excuse? The fact that he's out of position is an opportunity to prove his class. Sheva in many interviews refers to himself as a "winger" When Pippo was out injured he scored 24 league goals as a lone striker. when the other strikers came back he scored 17 as a support striker.
what has Gila done???

Gila doesnt have any lack in the form..he is 100 percent healthy and fit.

Oh, please, I hear it before every game for the past MONTHS...and still nothing is happening. I think Gila shouldnt even start the game with Inter. He just doesnt deserve it. Oliveira and Inzaghi so far are a lot better than Gila.

P.S. welcome

@ hitmannq8...

my point exactly... i have said many times i am not angry at Gilardino nor do i dislike the bloke... some people just can't get it into their head... or simply refuse to accept it...

and if you or anyone bothers readin' my posts... i've said many times... he doesn't deserve a startin' role in the team until he earns the right to... which literally means he should be dropped to the bench because of his lack of form... and only should he prove that he is capable... should he be rewarded for his efforts...

-----

lastly to the general Gilardino fans here... if you are sick & tired of readin' not so pleasin' comments about Gilardino... how come you guys are so keen to bash Oliveira & Inzaghi & Borriello just to make Gilardino sound not so bad? if makin' others sound terrible is the only way Gilardino can be made up to be not as bad as many have said... this is terrible... what next? blame Dida for not helpin' Gilardino in attack?
