How do you get to Athens from Milan?

What's the best way to get to athens from Italy, other than flying direct to athens? Are there any ferries from eastern Italy to mainland Greece?

I think there should be ferries from eastern Italy,but I think the best way is to arrive in Bari(south Italy) from there you can get Ferries going to Athens more often.
