Tony75. Abbiati is among the 20 best keepers in the world. The way he kept Juventus out of danger in the second part off 2005 was one of the reasons Juve finished the season as number one.

For me Abbiati is the most underrated keeper in the world. No question.

Valdes is still hanging around at Barca because he's a local yokel. The Barca fans aren't as amorous of him.
Is that right? My dad has been a Barcelona fan since 1977 and he loves Valdes.

Firstly, I think Buffon is definitely worth the 20-30 million euros or so that is suggested to be his price tag, as he is most probably the greatest keeper ever.

It's not just his ability to make saves that rates him so highly, but his technical and tactical qualities. He is very commanding and organises his defences superbly. If for whatever reason he can't hold the ball on his saves, it is almost certain the ball will be pushed out of the danger area (something which Dida is awful at). He is also good at taking crosses and most of all, is extremely reliable, rarely making silly mistakes, which for the confidence of the side and defence, is a massive boost.

If you don't believe he can make miracles, then I suggest you watch his Serie A debut against us, he single handedly got Parma a point, and to this day I've don't remember a keeper being able to survive such an onslaught, never mind one at 18 or so. Also this video shows some of his great saves

Dida has made some of the most spectacular saves I've ever seen, but Buffon offers confidence, reliability, stability and leadership, which Dida simply isn't offering.

I even think Buffon is the most spectacular. And on top of that he is a true gentleman and handsome too.

Yo dont piss me offf ok. I dont neeed any sources, i live 10 minutes away from the centre of Milan, and i see everythign that happens. I saw Ronaldhinos brother Roberto in he city last week. The only source i need is my head. If i do tell people something that i heard from a person, an internet site or news paper, before i post it, i always quote the source for example football italia. I wasnt the one who even brought up the valdez story, i just followed up on it, so maybe you should look a few pages bak on this thread and you will see ight, i dont wanna fight with anyone here, i keep the peace.

Yes, not up close, but from a distance, all the newspaper agencies were snapping pictures, so i couldnt get close, i was on my way to the gucci store, to pick up a pair of glasses, and down the street is the Melia hotel and confrence centre, and he was walking in there. I could only assume that it was to hold talk regarding Ronaldhino with Milan. So those rumours about his brother holding talks with Milan seem to be true.

OK, thx for your reply. If you don't mind I would like to ask another question, please. Before you saw Ronaldinho's brother in Milan had you ever seen Ronaldinho's brother before in the sense that you knew how he looked, so you could recognize him?

i hadnt seen him before other than that first time, but over the summer he was in Milan maybe 2 or 3 times. I really sense something is cooking. Yes i have seen him in person before though, so i know how he looks. i saw him in Barcelona, when i went to watch Inter-Barca match. he was sitting with the mangement in the stands. So i am certain it was him.

Dida has made some of the most spectacular saves I've ever seen, but Buffon offers confidence, reliability, stability and leadership, which Dida simply isn't offering.
And his true value can be seen this year when his team has a defense consisted of Zebina-Legrottaglie-Chielini and Molinaro. There's rarely a match without Juve's opponents creating between 3-5 clear chances and Buffon still kept 8 clean sheets. Also, it's worth mentioning that almost half of the goals he conceeded were from penalty kicks (saving penalties, or not saving them, is probably his only weakness).

Buffon is now 29 and this is his best year so far. He's finally in the perfect age for a goalkeeper, which is imo between 28-33, and i'm convinced that his best years are in front of him.

With the shaky defense Juve has Buffon is forced to rely on his own and he found himself one on one with opponent's attackers many many times this year. He was a winner in these duels in at least 80% of the case. Really incredibile. And Juve's defense started playing much better lately and more organized which is also partly due to Buffon and his organazing and leadership qualities.
Until you see the ball in the net you can't be even 50% sure that it's a goal, even if the shot is taken perfectly and from close distance.

Here's one example where i and everyone who watched the match saw the ball in the net. This is from Lazio-Juve, few weeks ago :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X_XE...eature=related

People used to say that Buffon brings 15 points at least. With a good defense in front of him it wasn't as obvious. But now it's more than obvious. Only in the opening 17 matches he single-handedly brought at least 15 points to Juve.

Why are we even comparing Dida to Buffon? It is really really insulting to the latter.

Let's just say that Dida's best days are behind him.

Tony29: That save is phenomenal.

As I see it he is also one of the best penalty takers. Take 2006 Berlin to begin with.

we still formally own oliveira...plus, the agents' role is to go around and talk with societies, so no surprises maybe roberto de assis was in via turati.

the important thing he keeps away from via durini --->

Buffon as far as my memory serves me saved a couple of French world class stars' penalty shots and was a big influence in the World Cup.

And that was just the final. He was rock solid in ALL the matches. My favourite moment of Buffon's WC was the save vs. Ukraine which no one other than Buffon could've saved. Not Zoff, not Zenga and not Pagliuca...
