NOw guys, I read this from goal.com:

Kalac — 5: Surely aware he could have stood his ground when conceding the second goal. Was powerless to stop the first and otherwise uninvolved as Sampdoria rarely got near him.

Oddo — 6: In the first half he was poor and was guilty of giving the ball away a little too much under pressure. In the second, when Sampdoria looked to contain their hosts, he was allowed to flourish going forward and put in some good crosses, even though nothing came from them in the end.

Nesta — 7: As assured and composed as ever, sweeping up many a mess in the first half. Could have got a higher rating had he not been slightly at fault for the second Sampdoria goal, not showing enough strength to make it harder for Delvecchio.

Kaladze — 5: Most definitely was not good enough when it mattered. Allowed too much space for the opener and was in complete disarray when the second Sampdoria goal was netted. Afterwards he was largely untested and put in a good shift, but he will know that his poor start was costly.

Jankulovski — 3: Absolutely dreadful. Far and away the worst player on the night: he gave the ball away on countless occasions and was caught out of position several times in the first half. Was substituted for the unremarkable and aging Giuseppe Favalli, which says it all.

Gattuso — 6: Lacked sharpness and was sloppy in the first half but went some way toward redeeming himself in the second period, where his dogged determination paid dividends and didn't allow Sampdoria any respite. Unlucky not to score a scorching equaliser in stoppage time.

Pirlo — 7: Played with more enthusiasm than we're used to seeing, especially in recent times when he has looked so jaded. Was all over the park, making runs into the left channel and played some sublime passes. Tested the keeper and defence once or twice with his crosses and shots, would have scored higher but was also wasteful at times and, uncharacteristically, didn't produce an end product.

Ambrosini — 6: A solid performance. Was unlucky to be substituted when he was, as at the time, Gattuso was playing worse, but no doubt Carlo Ancelotti had the fans in mind when deciding against substituting Rino. Ambrosini put in the effort, but the demands put on him going forward were too great, as he simply lacks the offensive prowess.

Kaka — n/a: Showed a few good touches and at the very point he was injured he looked like tearing away on one his trademark counterattack runs. Very unfortunate to go off so early on — scores were level when he did — and he certainly needs to have a period of prolonged rest and perhaps some form of surgery to rectify this long-term knee problem.

Seedorf — 4: Contends well with Jankulovski for most embarrassing showing of the evening. Can count himself lucky only three substitutions can be made otherwise his number could well have been up. A role model as a person and as a player, but tonight he well and truly lacked everything bar his work rate. His touch deserted him, and his timing was off; too many times he was reluctant to pull the trigger and ran into many a dead-end. When Seedorf plays well, Milan play well — tonight, Seedorf did not play well.

Pato — 8.5: Absolutely magnificent. All that can be said is, believe the hype. His touch and burst of pace caused Sampdoria problems all game. Even in the tightest of jams, he showed a Messi-like ability to run himself into space and create an opening. Floated in a brilliant cross for Milan's sole goal of the game and really deserved one himself, but didn't get a clear-cut opportunity.

Substitutes:

Paloschi — 7.5: A very promising performance. Like Pato, his dribbling and pace caused Sampdoria many a problem, and he headed his goal home well. Lacks the strength on the ball of the Brasilian, and drifted out of the game for periods in the second half.

Gilardino — 6: A good showing. His presence was most definitely invaluable to Milan as he provided some sort of focal point for the electric Pato and Paloschi to work around. Individually, as is often the case, he was lacking. His touch was not quite there and he couldn't create any chances for himself, though it cannot be stressed enough that he was put between a rock and a hard place, coming on to play against such a crowded defence.

Favalli — 7: At 36, he was more assured, more composed and even more alert than Marek Jankulovski, the man he replaced. Giuseppe Favalli — renowned for being average — put in a good performance tonight and showed tenacity when it mattered. Saw an absolute belter go just wide, which would have been quite a sight had it gone in.

I highlighted the worst (Janku and Seedorf) that didn't seem to have received the hammer here, while Gilardino, according to goal.com, didn't play that bad. Another surprise is Favalli, which none of you mentions.

Glad to see Paloschi & Pato doing well!

I think we have enough cry for new management, new players, new whatever. Shrug it off and let's move on. We have complained enough (or not enough?) and all the best we can do is to support the team, at least until the end of the year (i.e., May).

The judgment day will then come.
Yeah Jeff, i totaly agree with you. Let's support our team to the rest of the season and then to see what will be.

Seedorf and Jankulovski weren't fit for the game.

I wouldn't blame them (who showed great committment in difficult circumstances ), but Carlo who risked to play with unfit players.

I will support Milan but i've really had it up to here when the players or coaches after losses say the same thing.

"The possibility of working for the entire week to prepare Sunday's game gives surely more certainty ahead of the game, therefore we must take from yesterday's game the positive things that were there and look ahead.

I want Carlo to step up and say hey its my fault im the coach im the guy who picks the 11 and im the one who subs and my game plan sucked today im sorry.

Goal.com Ratings Are Rubbish!

Great site but the ratings are silly. I read like the site but there ratings are rubbish and so are there team of the weeks, its all random sometimes they say a player played great , and you watch the game and see they play rubbish here is an example . last week roma v milan

Oddo 6 – Awful before the break with unconvincing defending and disappointing crosses, but far more assured in the second half and gave a superb assist for the goal. Less to blame for the late mistakes than the rest of the back line.

THEN here is the team of the week from that game.

Massimo Oddo (Milan): Brilliant game by the full-back who also assisted Kaka for the Rossoneri's opening goal.

i watched the game he played ok , no way in best team of the week

your thoughts?

This guy seems to have a switch button. Last week he switched his #10 role on, and the next week switch it off. But the latter case happens much more often. The same thing goes with Pirlo, he finally played well tonight after what, a month??

Without sufficient support from the flanks, the way we're playing relies heavily on Pirlo-Seedorf-Kaka. When one of them is out injured, and the other mistaken the SS for a jogging track, then we're in big trouble.

Seedorf is just nothing without Kaka around... and Kaka uses Seedord well during attacks, passes the ball to Seedorf so that he holds it up a bit, and gets the ball back and continues his attacks...

Why Milan had such an appalling 1st half? Milan is almost a 1 man 'kaka' show, and we were set up to play with Kaka, then he got injured and Milan just did not know how to re-adjust without him...

Seedorf IMO cannot be the leading man, but plays the supporting role behind Kaka to perfection...

Our problem is nothing new, we had all season long last year, is just that Kaka had an out of this world season (winning all the awards says it all)... We are just looking at delayed results/outcomes from last year...

So there's no point of us pointing out the problems over and over again... everyone has seen it for almost 2 years, some might have different versions, but if you look at it, it points back to the same problems...

I'm pretty sure that Milan management too knows too well about it, and I would want to believe that they had an extremely good reason for not being able to act on it...

For now, best thing to do his cross you fingers, pray for lady luck and if there's any Milan fans that knows any voodoo, it's a good time to cast some spells... Cause Milan needs every good damn thing at this moment to get to 4th place...

I can't wait to get this season over... and if Fester doesn't do anything, i'm going to buy a plane ticket to Milan HQ, and throw rotten eggs at them all day long...

Janku - Maybe i can accept was due to his fitness, he just came back from it, so it may be a valid excuse.

But why not play Bonera in the center and push Kaladze of to the left rather than risk injured Janku.

Honestly, I don't think it's a fitness issue, he's just out of form, and honestly, has never been comfortable at left back for Milan (only has handful of great games). I think at Udinese he played left mids (only sometimes playing left back for NT)

Seedorf - I totally disagree if his poor game is related to fitness. He played a good game against Roma just a few days ago, and lasted 75 mins. I don't see how in his 2nd game coming back from a lay off, that his game suddenly becomes so poor.

Again, it's freakin obvious to fans, Seedorf plays 1 great game and 20 sh1tty games after, and from history, we shouldn't be surprised. This was his Inter-days issues as well - inconsistency.

Btw, please tell all our italian buddies not to buy a single god damn season pass for next season... not until the management fix our problem!!!

Like in Malaysia, everyone was not happy with the goverment, then everyone went and voted for the opposition... and the ruling goverment had the worst results in 50 years!!! Well, heads are starting to roll in my country....

That's how we make our voices heard... we can have 1,000,000 pages in this forum... it's not going to matter at all...

Pirlo should be excused for his poor performance recently (not today obviously). Like with Kaka, he has been overused due to lack of any other options, and basically the amount of matches has grinded him down to the ground. If we had the squad everyone realize we dont have, Pirlo wouldve had occational rest and would not have the same horrible performances due to tiredness, and Kaka would not go out with injury every match since he couldve gotten the rest for his knees that he needs. I hope Kaka either gets a long rest now or they decide to operate on him, cause frankly risking his future like we have done lately is just irresponsible. If the choice is risk Kaka or end in 5th-6th, then lets go UEFA cup!
