Wasn't the greatest of first halves..but Pirlo's goal was the shock we've been looking for all season. It truly woke us up. It sounded like the Bernabeu was full of Milanista's singing Ale Ale Ale Milan Ale. I knew at the point that we we were going to score and we did a few minutes later.

Awesome game from Oddo. Seedorf played the best match of his career today. Nesta and Thiago were fantastic, they showed us the art of defending (apart from that mix-up with Ambro that let Raul through). Zambrotta was horrible, if that penalty counted I think it would have been the end of Zambro in a Milan shirt.

Even after his goal though, I did not think Pirlo was great and he still is the problem in our side. We are predictable with him there. Ronaldinho was absolutely horrible today. He did a few good tricks but they were useless, my fav one was the Raul slap.

Pato can be better than this. He's gotta learn to be more precise and more decisive. He could have been the reason we lost today's game cause he missed quite a bit of chances. Regardless, he had a good game. Boriello's introduction did quite a lot for our game. I dont know if it was a coincedence that Pirlo scored soon after he came on, but Milan def started to play better after Boriello and the goal came.

I thought Zambro was fine other than the penalty. Oddo had an above average game. I still try Antonini out next Serie A game. Dinho has too go. He tries to do tricks all the time because that is all he has at this point in his career. And I love my Pirlo, and he woke the team up today.

Sorry to bring us down on this happy day, but if we had Gorky and Cisskho, we would be the best in Europe

What a performance this was! I still can't believe we beat Real at Bernabeu!

Not even in my dreams I believed that Leonardo is so brave. For fielding 4-3-3 with just one defensive-minded midfielder in an away match against Real you have to have BALLS. His push of Seedorf from left into the middle was as crucial for the match as was Borriello's introduction. Bravo, Leonardo.

Despite the win, one have to be fair and say that our midfield didn't protect defense well. That said, stop talking bull**** about Oddo is bad, or Zambrotta is bad, because considering how much protection they got from the midfield, our defense was HEROIC.

One other thing we should change after this match is that we have to stop calling Seedorf "Slowdorf". :-) This man at the age of 33 is anything but slow. Ronaldinho is slower.

We should continue using this system, but we need either Flamini or Gattuso because we lack a midfield cover. Ambro doesn't have the legs anymore, though I personally think that right now he's better player then Flamini who's not so calm and composed.

Seedorf didn't do THAT good IMHO. His shot was way way of.

Dinho's running set up Pato's 2nd goal. The defenders were absolutely fooled by Dinho's position and Seedorf's ball holding(as if he's playing in the 20th century).

We won this match purely because of my facebook profile picture. True story. I'll have to download it later because I had class but AMAZING result!

Didn´t read all the posts here, but one thing imo is being overlooked is Leo change of tactics in the second half, that imo won the game for us.

We were playing as always with:

-----Seedorf----------Ambro----

In the second half he changed to it to give Pirlo and Seedorf more freedom:

------Seedorf-----------Pirlo-----

That alone give a "partner" to Pato at the right, and liberated Pirlo to pair with Ronaldinho in the left. After that(and Pirlo early goal, for sure), we were much more dynamic in offense, and gave a lot of trouble to Madrid fullbacks...

It was even better, because Marcelo runs were causing trouble to our defense, and with 2 players to explore his back, he stoped to attack. And since he is above average defending, our work was more easy with PAto and Seedorf attackig his flanke.

I don´t like the way that Leo is playing Pato(right winger), just to try to save Ronaldinho. But I´m also tired of to see the agenda some posters here have against Leo.

He´s a rookie coach, and will commit rookie mistakes, period. But anyone that saw Leo analyzing a game(at BBC or here in Brazil), can see that he sees the game as few...

If it was Mourinho, Lippi or any Italian coaches to do this, these same people would have been here praising the guy as a genius. Ahhhhh the double standards

Props to Seedorf also, and for Dida to come back after the worst error that I saw in my life. Showed character to come back after that "thing".

Btw(who played knows what I´m talking about), it was clear that Milan players came to the second-half to save Dida´s skin. It always happens when we lhave a teammate that scored a own goal or when a GK do what Dida did...

We try even harder to not let our teammate bad... Book it

I just wanna see what all RM fans and Milan haters are going to say after this. All these days they were laughing at us and predicted that their "dream team" would have an easy night. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE MILAN !!

Seriously, Nesta has to be the smartest player on earth...He makes everything look so easy!!! If we had him last year, we would have been champions for sure..

One more thing, I have to praise Oddo, he was really good tonight...in all honesty atm, he is better than zambrota..he needs just to improve his crossing, which wasnt that bad tongiht.

Great post Brasileiro, I agree that it definetly was much better when we started playing Seedorf and Pirlo infront of Ambrosini. Ive said it before and I'll say it again, Pirlo really works best on the left side of the midfield these days. There's simply not enough movement in front of him when he's playing in front of the defence, this coupled with the fact that he seems to have gotten worse at passing really gives terrible results. I don't know how many times he tried the same pass to Pato, sometimes it worked, but then Pato was completely isolated with the ball on the left hand side.

Leonardo said that he originaly wanted to play a 4-3-3, and I do think it's working pretty decently at the moment, at least when Pirlo is not playing as a deep lying midfielder as you mentioned. The team, doesn't seem that accustemed to it though. The problem most of the time was that we'd be having Ronalidnho, Pippo and Pato lying on the line of the offside, which resulted in there being to much space between the midfield and the attack, Ronaldinho in particular, but also Pippo needs to drop back more often and help the midfield to close the space.

I do think though that Pato is good on the right. If you look at the goals he's scored this seasons and the chances that he's had, most of them really came when he was at the right side of the attack and Ronaldinho or Seedorf passed the ball across the defense to Pato, like it happened today. Ofcourse playing on the right hand side means that he can't go into the field and shoot as effective (even though he does have a good left foot), but on the other hand, it reallly helps him when he has to finish the passes that he gets from Pirlo/Ronaldinho.

Ofcourse he is a striker, but I don't think he works well in a two man attack with Pippo/Huntelaar. Him and Borriello could be pretty good, since Borriello is a really good ball player actually (Although he's poor goal scorer), but if Pato should play in a two man attack, then it really should be with someone like Robinho or Kaká who he can play of off, and who moves as much as him. The alternative in the 4-3-3 is ofcourse that he plays as the striker, which I thinkwould be fine, but who'd play on the right then?

Anyways, nice observation about Dida, it's pretty much the same thing that happened against Roma.

I liked coming home from minor surgery and seeing the score. At first, I thought I was mis-reading it...but no. Excellent. I'm even reading that Oddo played well. Miracolo.
I'll have to watch the replay of the match before commenting, but if this will be the result every time, they can repair tendons in my knee every Wednesday!

Just watched a replay of the game. Beautiful result. To be honest the team was nowhere in the 1st half. Pirlo's goal was the difference...brought back some life to the boys...but it shouldn't have gone in...beautiful, powerful shot by Andrea but the goalkeeper was caught asleep....should have had it. In fact all 3 first goals were a result of goalkeeper error. " Goofy"/Ronaldinho did come alive in the second half and made a difference. And Pato...what can you say!...so sure, so confident....never a doubt on both shots. Seedorf did flick a beauty to him for the winner and played a great game. Nesta...terrific. Happy for Dida after that error..he did make some great saves.
Maybe this win will change things for the boys in league play...a real confidence booster!
