AC Milan veteran playmaker Rui Costa has leapt to the defense of young gun Kaká, as the Brazilian starlet has come under fire for a purportedly slow start to the campaign.

"He’s a champion whom Milan did well to buy in the summer of 2003," the #10 man told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I don’t think he is going through a difficult moment now, he’s making intelligent runs and working hard for the team.”

"There is always a time when the ball doesn’t go in.”

”I know as it happened to me when I didn’t score for a year, but you need patience,” urged Rui Costa. “It will be curious to read the judgments on Kaká when he starts scoring a few more goals, it will be different then - This is isn’t right."
