Population (millions) China 1,300 India 1,087 United States 294 Indonesia 219 Brazil 179 Pakistan 159 Russia 144 Bangladesh 141 Nigeria 137 Japan 128 Does this mean we should focus on China or India? Brazil probably has the biggest ratio of population / footballers but only due to the fact that a majority of kids want to be good enough to get out of a poverty stricken country. I can't really comment on the best football schools, is it because of investment or just because they have very talented youngsters that go through these schools so it's just a matter of guiding them? Holland has a few good academies, with allot of investment from clubs, but they have dry spells of players when the raw talent isn’t there. You can’t school a player to be great when they don’t have the ability or potential, no matter how much teaching you throw at them. Personally I don't think we should concentrate on a particular nation just for a few said reasons. We are an elite club in the world, we should be going after the best players no matter what their nationality, as well as concentrate on developing our own (now so more than ever due to the new rules eufa are trying to implement.) If that means Brazilian players so be it, but don't limit our options. ![]()
