And as for the tactical aspect, well I can tell you that Carlo graduated his training course with absolute top marks (coincidentally btw. I know that his final task was to give an account of offensive movement/running patters in a 4-4-2 system), I've seen him change the course of a match to the better on countless occasions (most recently against Juve last Sunday), he has been praised from colleagues all over Europe (Italian manager of the season 2003/2004), his old mentor Sacchi has described him as one of the finest tacticians around. He has overcome challenges such as Hitzfeld's Bayern, Ferguson's United, Lippi's Juve, Capello's Roma, Mourinho's Porto, right there we're talking perhaps the 4-5 most winning coaches of the last few few decades. In the light of the above I believe your criticism of Ancelotti is one-sided, to say the least. P.S. as for Carlo being a "nice guy", I don't know him personally so I can't tell. As a player I do know that when he came to Milan in 1987 he was already a coach on the field, he was the kind of player Milan needed at the time, someone everyone would lean towards, a complete midfielder but above all a leader with great personality, for which reason I find it subjective at the best to hear people presume that he's a bad motivator (just by following this Milan side, whose greatest strength is the collective solidarity, week in week out should tell you otherwise). |
