Deloitte's Football Money League

Deloitte have recently revealed their league table of the top 20 teams in terms of annual revenue. What you'll see is a list of the top 10, their position, their position last year, club name and then the amount they made.

1 - (1) - Real Madrid - £202 million
2 - (6) - Barcelona - £179.1
3 - (4) - Juventus - £173.7
4 - (2) - Man Utd - £167.8
5 - (3) - Milan - £165
6 - (5) - Chelsea - £152.8
7 - (9) - Inter - £142.8
8 - (7) - Bayern - £141.5
9 - (10) - Arsenal - £133
10 - (8) - Liverpool - £121.7

Until last year Man Utd had headed this table for 8 years in a row, but they still head another table which measures the amount of profit each club makes, amassing a figure of £49.7 million profit. This was the figure they earnt by June 2006.

The Ronaldinho factor for Barca is clearly helping them seeing as he's the number 1 player who generates the most money for his club. When you add that to their CL success, it's no surprise they are 2nd.

Real are still 1st, though i think this may change as they have lost Ronaldo and are set to lose Beckham, these guys are 2nd and 4th respectively in the list of generating income for their clubs and have been in the top 3 or 4 for many years despite their personal problems or lack of form.

Though Juve and Milan are in the top 5, it'll be interesting to see our positions next time around when you take into account the calcipoli scandal and all the knock on effects that has had, not to mention how ticket sales will effect the revenue if we have to play a number of games behind closed doors. However, with the hope that Ronaldo will still be as popular as ever, the income he can generate could save us, if not this year then for the following year. If we did get Ronaldinho aswell then that would be quite something in terms of revenue.

Naturally (as if it was a surprise) the Premiership is the richest league in the world with 8 clubs in the top 20.
