He's a more classical attacking midfielder, if you watch Palermo, you will often see Pastore helping in defence, taking the ball in the midfield (in the side of his team). Technically amazing, fast, great passes, can score goals, he's on the way of the WC players (and it's his first season in Italy, he managed to become a key player of Palermo in few weeks) ...
