I was against this purchase at once, but now I'm for it.
Yes, we're playing great, and yes a player like Cassano doesn't actually fits a team spirit Allegri has made here, but Milan is not just winning but playing entertaining football too. And it's became symptomatic that we're putting brilliant players to the side. OK, Ronaldinho didn't deserved anything more, because his behavior wasn't good, but Cassano is more serious and should fit in. Someone has put pictures of Savicevic and Baggio here, and Cassano is really the same type of player, brilliant technique, brilliant dribbler and brilliant vision. With Ibra, it's like two technically strongest players in the world at the moment, aside Totti and Ronaldinho when he wants to play. As for formation, I don't think Allegri will use Cassano as trequartista. Cassano is a type of player, if you want him to play as trequartista you need 3 midfielders who should cover enormous amount of space. Just like Baggio has had at Juventus, and Savicevic here in Milan. I remember that Capello used to sacrifice Donadoni for Eranio just to cover space left behind Savicevic, when he played trequartista (it was 1996, Baggio came to Milan and the only way to play two geniuses together was to play one of the as AM). The more likely is back to 4-3-3, with Cassano entering the middle. Something like "soft" 4-3-1-2. And at the end, here some short footage of Totti and Cassano team play. It's a rarely seen combination of two players with brilliant technique and footballing brain. A football brilliance that can only be seen in Serie A. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqSk1T1vxXA |
