Well I'll hope... I'm not religious at all, but I'll pray lol.
Hey, I wonder how Guus Hiddink feels... you all know he's the coach of the Russian team... but he's Dutch. How does he feel about knocking his own country out of the Euro cup? I think one should do an interview (unless he has said something about this). He's very professional if anything... |

I read somewhere that Hiddink has some sorrows regarding dutch federation... dunno if that's true, but sounds interesting.

I'm SO happy that the Russians beat the Dutch it can't even be explained. If any of you visit the Soccer Pulse boards you'd see how the Dutch fans were talking about how Holland should have "rolled over for Romania to beat them so Italy would be knocked out" and how "Italy wouldn't have been so nice to them" etc etc and that they'd just beat us again in the semi-final. They didn't even make it that far...serves those fans right.

I think the point is they have more money than before and are more than capable of keeping their stars. The part about Messi or others not going there is history and prestige. If Milan comes calling you are more likely to choose Milan than Zenit. The issue is Serie A in general is not doing well so its less likely than before that a Serie A team will buy a Messi. |

so it must be pure a professional job. the winning of Russia would be taken as his personal achievement as a coach not as a Dutch. back to Euro 2008. wow.. Russia is surpraised me by playing like mighty lion or something brilliant match and very high value of entertainment of course. from start to end in this match the Russians were much better than the complacent Dutch players who again confirm the rule about teams reaching the peak too early always end up getting knocked out early. Holland again showed tonight that they miss that winning mentality when they reach the knockout stages. what is it to say about Arshavin, thought he looked a bit out of it early on but he played himself up as the match progressed and to top it off he delivered a world-class performance to break the Dutch. strong performance from the impressive Russian. completely deserved win for Russia and Hiddink who showed that he is one of the masterminds in modern football, but saying that Russia are now the favourites to win this tournament is still to premature and over the top.

To reply your second question, it's because these players are already incredibly rich, and going to a minor league, despite earning incredible moneys as wage, would make them earning much less. The big moneys come from sponsorships and contracts: going to Russian league would represent a failure in terms of image.

Can't wait for the game this afternoon! Let's hope Donadoni is smart and plays Cassano...rumour has it that Cassano might get benched. I don't think it makes sense but....it's Donadoni! The same guy who left DDR out of the first game.
My team: Buffon; Zambrotta, Panucci, Chiellini, Grosso; De Rossi, Aquilani, Ambro, Perrotta; Cassano; Toni. If Perrotta plays crap then bring on Di Natale and let Cassano play attacking mid. FORZA ITALIA! |

I'd like to see Italy win. I'm sorry, but I simply do not see Spain winning against Germany (who they could eventually go up against). I hope Cassano does play... he was impressive enough to deserve that. And definitely Aquilani... it's his chance.
Remember I'm half Spanish/half Italian... I hate this. I really don't know if I can get myself to watch the match... =/ |

Ref's stupid - yellow card for a ticky-tack foul and then misses two blatant fouls in the box against Spain. One was a shirt grab the other a hack, they weren't the worst fouls in the world, but the ref's perm-do annoys me anyway

crappy reffing.
Grosso stepped on Silva, clearly. But it shouldn't have been a penalty - as it was outside the box....
