The winter signing would be a utility signing... a back-up till we can get another someone else in summer. I heard we were linked to Domizzi at one point too...

Dainelli I heard signed an extension with Fiorentina in 2007... a 4 year contract extension.

We would have to get a free agent or a cheap transfer (7 million or less)...

yeah we dont reall need a defensive back up (unless injuries get worse)... bonera kaladze senderos r fine depth..... its the starters im worried about :-/

Once Nesta comes back... everything will be fine... but I see some need to invest in a new defender. We certainly invested for the future with regards to our midfield and attack. To a major extent.

The amount of depth in Milan's midfield and attack is extraordinary...

As far as Zambrotta I think he has at least 5 season left in him (he plays like someone 5 years younger than his age!), and same goes to Janku...

But... I see your point... maybe a young winger would be nice for the future...

Edit: BTW if you're all wondering... Pato has crossed the double digits with goals scored for Milan (including all tournaments, according to wikipedia), he has scored 11 goals [this includes his goal scored against Zurich]. I know wikipedia is right in this regard tho... that's 11 goals in 22 games...

i can remember them all, i look forward to the day when that isnt the case.
Once him and kaka get in sync (they never truly got a chance last year) everyone will fear them. I think there game compliments each other. It'll be better than a young kaka and sheva 4-5 years ago

edit: if u calculate he's played 179 minutes this year... 2 goals. I'll take that average...granted its a little too early to get into these things

Pato was hit by a bit of a morale problem earlier from what happened in the Olympics... and articles (mostly from goal.crap) were talking all sorts of rubbish about the guy... he recovered nicely. The goal against Zurich was the start. He was so happy when he scored that header today... that's what counts for me.

i think 5 years is a little optomistic but 3 is realistic (hard to imagine wingback not declining after 34) But anyway if u consider 38 game serie A season, plus europe which is another 10+ (unless u get bounced early... which we wont) and then international fixtures (dont see zambrotta being dropped from azzuri anytime soon) thats ALOT of matches for a player.... hence y clubs these days have more and more depth.
I dont really see it as a winter mercato 'need' but good young defenders will be priority of next summer i think.... a good young wingback of 22-24 who can rotate w/ zambrotta and relieve him, so we dont overwork him perhaps.


ps has anyone seen darmian play? ANY analysis on his playing style potential?

Oh I agree with you... in fact I was in favor of increasing the amount of depth in every part of the field. I called for an increase in depth for the midfield and attack before the summer transfer season. Even younger players (like Kaka) can tire and be worn down... the management did a fantastic job reinforcing those parts of the field, so I don't have reason to doubt them.

For example, Flamini as a reinforcement for Gattuso... f'ing genius... perhaps the best thing that management has done in years! The reinforcement of Ronaldinho for Kaka was also good... and if Seedorf is not playing up to par, Ronaldinho could take his place.

He played in the U-19 world cup tournament I believe... he was pretty solid... he's a potential to look at in the future. I've seen him play a few times and he's always impressed me... but I'm sure others here have seen more of him.
