Is it time to break up our Team?

The CL final is over.

As I type this,I am wearing the 98/99 white Milan jersey. So sad but still very proud to be a Milanista.

Our defenders are old.

Billy-38
Costacurta-39
Pancaro-34
Serginho-34
Stam-33
Cafu-35
Nesta-29

Our strikers are ageing too

Pippo-32
Crespo-30
Tommason-29
Sheva-29

The 30s guys should go-this means the entire defence(first teamers and reserves alike)Build the team around

Nesta,Pirlo,Kaka,Rino,Sheva

Man,the Rossoneri needs a really extensive surgery in the summer...

Just to correct you, "billy" is Costacurta's nickname. He is known as Alessandro "Billy" Costacurta. There is no defender at milan called Billy

secondly, the last time did a major overhaul of the whole team, they ended up 10th and 11th places in two successive seasons. that's when they got kluivert, davids, reiziger and bogarde. be careful what you wish for - it may come true

ACMILAN1983 will become famous soon enough
Firstly, you put "billy" instead of "Maldini".

Now, the current side is already built around the players you mentioned (though Maldini is there too).

Simply put, we could and probably need to make changes in personal to replace those who aren't as effective or as useful as they were. Defenders are still fine and clearly this wasn't the problem last night, but some youngsters need to be looked at now.

The midfield could use some bolstering up, though the only one from the first team I'd consider replacing is Seedorf, as his inconsistency is becoming harmful at times now (its easier to say to replace him than to say how though).

The forwards will need some new faces, as JDT and Pippo aren't as effective as before.

I'm not saying buy a new squad by any means. However, we should continue our previous transfer policy and look to strengthen our weak points.

Put simply, no I don't think we need to break up the team and rebuild at all, but instead should be looking to strengthen our weaknesses (which at this point seem more mental than anything tbh).

Except Maldini is 36, not 38.

Yeah. Do not make a total makeover of Milan (that would definitely be disastrous)... sell a few players and buy potential ones. You might still want to keep your old soldiers for next season though but in the meantime prepare for a new generation of Milan.

Goalies:

#1 - DIDA
#17 - Christian ABBIATI
#12 - Valerio FIORI

Dida is 1 of, if not the best GK going around, a true asset to the team. Abbiati was once great, now he is average but I suppose as a second choice GK he is impressive, Valerio Fiore was garbage in the couple of games I have seen but 3rd choice GK isn't really a position that matters although maybe a young 3rd choice keeper would be a wise choice.

Defenders:

# 2 - CAFU
# 5 - Alessandro COSTACURTA
# 4 - Kakha KALADZE
# 3 - Paolo MALDINI
# 13 - Alessandro NESTA
# 26 - Giuseppe PANCARO
# 14 - Dario SIMIC
# 31 - Jaap STAM

With Costacurta retiring, I think we should also sell Simic and Pancaro and sign a couple of younger defenders. Kaladze might be good bait to get Crespo... Chelsea were after Kaladze at one point, not so sure anymore.
Stam,Cafu,Maldini and Nesta should definately stay at the club.

Midfielders:

#23 - Massimo AMBROSINI
#32 - Cristian BROCCHI
#24 - Vikash DHORASOO
#8 - Gennaro Ivan GATTUSO
#21 - Andrea PIRLO
#10 - Manuel RUI COSTA
#20 - Clarence SEEDORF
#22 - KAKA’
#27 - SERGINHO

Now, personally I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to sell Rui Costa, in all honesty when he first signed for Milan I thought he was going to be a hero, sadly he hasn't had such a positive effect. He has done a reasonable service for Milan but I think it is time for him to move on, Brocchi is not a bad player although if he left I wouldn't really care too much although he is a fairly good under-study for Gattuso. Dhorasoo should stay in my opinion, he has had little chance to shine for Milan but whenever he plays he looks dangerous and dynamic. Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo and Gattuso, Ambrosini and Serginho should all be at Milan for next season.

Strikers:

#11 - Hernan CRESPO
#9 - Filippo INZAGHI
#7 - Andriy SHEVCHENKO
#15 - Jon Dahl TOMASSON

Shevchenko should definately stay, still shocked at his terrible efforts this morning but everyone has a bad day. I hope Crespo is signed for Chelsea, he showed vs Man Utd and today vs Liverpool how good he is and how he can rise to the occasion. Inzaghi of 2003 CL campaign was phenommenal and I hope/think he will stay in the squad, hopefully next season he has better luck and doesn't have too many injuries. Tomasson should be sold, he scores a goal here and a goal there although I do not think he should be playing for AC Milan.

the defence has 2 be given a thought. milan present defence could play 4 one more season, in the mean time i think we should ready the new young players like MARZORATTI,PERTICONE who looked good against palermo. Who knows we may hav the new maldini or baresi waiting in the youth team of milan. The young players can also get gr8 knowledge 4m the present classy defenders 2 make them world class.

Definately, I think Simic/Pancaro should move on to give Milan some youth, even if the youth are only fringe players it will prepare them for the future.

i think the team should be gradually broken up.But that is waht happens to all teams anyway. The secret is to build on a winning team not a losing team.We do have too many older players. In Italian football clubs do not seem to like to have young fringe players in the squad preferring to loan them out to get some experience.Personally I think we should have young players in and around the squad training with the first team, getting to know the systems and generally just being part of things.Like last week they can even be involved in games as subs or starting from time to time.It is not easy to re-build in a big way the team should evolve from the current team.

Let's face it guys,we r chokers! We can't even hold a 3-0 lead for 45 minutes. It's a real disgrace. This Milan team will never b great as the Milan of the late 80's and early 90's.Those players had the will 2 win.To them it was a matter of life and death. This Milan team on the other hand is capable of producing freaks of nature.I thought Deportivo was bad. This was horrendous.Either they were complacent or just too stupid.

The team needs a serious make-over.Obviously we need 2 restructure our defence.I hope Costacurta,Maldini,Cafu,Pancaro,Simic,Seedorf,Brocchi,Dhorasoo,Tomasson,Inzaghi and Crespo leave.

No offence guys but most of them have done enough 4 the club. Some of them are just too old and warming the bench. We need an injection of youth. We have enough experience. We need a large squad 2 compete in all competitions.I hope Silvio and Galliani finally wake up their idea and start buying.

I hope Sheva dosen't leave. He and Kaka were by far the best players on the pitch

No offence to the Rossoneri but as a fan of Milan for 10 years,it irks me 2 c Milan lose when they have a seemingly unassailable lead.I wrote this out of anger and frustration. All i can say is we need restructuring and fast

i hope the club doesnt tihnk the way you do... i dont mean to be rude or arrogant but ur post is "stupid" by all means. look no one is happy about today... but if u think we should change 75% of our team then why not go and support another 'younger' team that wears red and black?

and how was sheva along with kaka one of our best players today? ... if anyone its maldini and pirlo along with kaka... the whole team played great and not one did badly, we didnt have luck on our side and the ref was **** by all means... but i would put sheva as our worst player today, im not attacking him, i love him more than anyone but he did not have a good game and when a player plays bad we shouldnt deny it just because of who he is... he was unlucky, everything seemed to go wrong for him, he had another offside goal ruled out in a final and it couldve counted again, and then he witnessed the luckiest save in the dying seconds of extra time from point blank... u get me superman and he wouldve wasted that penalty if he had was in sheva mental state.

i think that JDT miss from an open net should see him leave, i dont mind seeing simic and pancaro leave, same with brocchi and abbiati, i would like to see inzaghi leave as well. instead i would like to see us get jankulovski, gilardino, makinwa, crespo, pizarro and oddo.
we should stick to the same formation, and play jankulovski in seedorfs place, gila with sheva upfront, and makinwa and crespo should fight for a place in the starting lineup (its about time we have serious competition there, and with different types of strikers), we missed ambrosini today and he should stay, but if this happened again i think a player like pizarro would be useful, you would take out gattuso and play him instead, oddo would also fight for a starting spot and he should get alot of chances...

i know alot of you are unhappy, i would be the first to say so, but you cannot forget how the team played in the first half and for the 114 minutes even... in the 1st half i saw the best peice of football in a final in my whole life, just because we were unlucky and we lost in the end it doesnt mean the whole squad should change

please be logical
